Live, Laugh, Love

It is time for an anything goes challenge at  Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.   Which means link up your projects and you will have an opportunity to win the 50$ Gift Voucher!

I recently received the Indigo Blue Live Laugh Love and it was the inspiration for my card

I stamped the background with a scattering of tiny leaves.  I then stamped the flowers multiple times onto white cardstock and cut them out to create a layer of flowers.

The dragonfly got a second layer of wings from tissue paper.  The center of the flowers were textured with a touch of crushed glass glitter.

Birds in Spring

I love how the first real sign of spring for me is the birds in the early morning.  When I see the first robin I know the weather is starting to change.  Even though we still had some snow this week I have seen the robins and know it is only a matter of time that we will start to get warmer weather.

This was a quick card created with a background I had stamped previously using paint.  I stamped up the images from the new Indigo Blue set.

I colored my bird and leaves with STAEDTLER Karat Aquarell Watercolor Pencils

The background is Artistic Outpost - Janes Countryside.

Have a lovely day!

One More Tag

I am back to share one more transparent tag!

I started with a painted background of white and yellow paint over a stencil onto the acetate tag.  I decided to pull off a bit of the paint by using the baby wipe after the paint had dried.  After that I took the Tim Holtz stencil to apply a layer of the Eye chart with black embossing paste.

I stamped the women from Kudzu Kafe onto the Acetate tag using Ranger Archival ink.  I stamped  be honest onto a piece of clear acetate using black stazon ink.  I cut it and applied it to the bottom corner.

I backed the tag with a piece of white cardstock misted with blue glimmer mist.  I stamped the Kudzu Kafe onto the blue tag using black ink.

Thanks for stopping by!

Peeking Through

How about a transparent challenge?  This week at  Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge   we are showing off projects that are inspired by the idea of transparency.  I decided to play with a series of acetate tags.

My favorite was the tag with a coat of paint which I distressed and creating little windows into a second tag that was hidden behind the acetate tag.

I painted the surface of the acetate tag with a coat of white paper. I then distressed the surface to remove some of the white paint with a baby wipe.  I hen laid the honeycomb stencil over he surface and applied a coat of white embossing paste.  I left the stencil on and spritzed over the embossing paste with a hint of blue glimmer mist.

To add a hint of something underneath the tag I glimmer misted a piece of white cardstock and cut it to the shape of the acetate tag.  I stamped the sentiment on the misted background using brown ink.  I repeated until the surface was covered.

I attached the acetate tag to the cardstock. I then stamped the sentiment on acetate using black StazOn ink. I cut it out and attached it to the surface.

I spritzed tissue paper with glimmer mist to create my flowers.  I folded it like a fan and stapled the bottom together and spread out the top to create a fan effect. I then attached them to the tag with staples.  I gave them stems with brown hemp.

My next tag was a masculine version of the acetate tags:

Then I played with a text background to a flowery tag:

This next tag actually was a backing to an acetate tag and I loved the soft effect of the painted text:

I had fun trying all different kinds of effects using the acetate tags.  If you have any questions on any of the tags you can drop me a line and I will be happy to explain!

Here is the big list of products I used while playing with my tags:

Butterfly Dreams

I just received two new stamps texture stamps from Darkroom Door yesterday so I had to play!

See that peek of polka dots?  That is the new Texture Stamp Dots.  I love the size of these stamps and the edges of the image are uneven allowing for background texture.  :)  The new stamps inspired my layered art!

I stamped the other new stamp Texture Stamp - French Script onto tissue paper which was misted with orange glimmer mist.  I crinkled the paper and added distressing with brown dye ink.

I stamped the dots onto a piece of brown paper bag and on a piece of cardboard painted with white acrylic.

I added a piece of gauze misted with brown ink.  I misted white cardstock and stamped the Eclectic Butterfly,Eclectic - Fancy Flourish, Wordblock Journey, and Collage Butterfly Garden stamps.  I then cut them out and arranged all the pieces in layers.

Have a lovely Thursday!

Baby

Howdy!  I can't believe it is Wednesday already. I have been playing around with different projects and struggling a bit with finishing projects.  I wanted to try tape transfers of old photos as I had seen a project that was beautiful using a transferred image.

I had a few pre-printed photos that I had scanned and copied onto cardstock. I pulled them out and used packing tape to cover them and then rubbed off the back of the paper with baby wipes.  I laid the baby wipes onto the cardstock and let it soak in.  I then rubbed off the cardstock using my finger.

I had taken a page from a book and cut it to the tag shape.  I painted the surface with a touch of white paint.   After it had dried I placed my baby image onto the painted background.  I stamped the butterflies in blue ink and cut them out and attached them with the little crystals.  I stamped the sentiment and cut it out and placed it along the side.

Lucky Treats

Happy St. Patty's Day!  The challenge this week at  Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge    is all about Luck!  Since today is St. Patty's Day I thought I would share a treat holder  that can hold a few pieces of chocolate gold candy.
When my kids were younger we would always talk about trying to catch a leprechaun.  We never caught a leprechaun but he always left a note and a treat for the kids.  I thought it would be fun to create a little posy to hold treats in that could be hung on the door handle.

I also created a little rosette featuring a wee couple.

Finally a second posy with a different shaker image with a sweet girl.

Birthday Celebrations

Hey there!  I spent some time on Sunday playing with a new stencil and stamp combo from Heidi Swapp.

I stamped the script over the background and then sponged brown dye ink over the stencil.  I added a touch of watercolor pencil around the edges of the stenciled image and added a touch of distressing around the edges.

Birthday Pup

I love this little Mo Manning illustrated Penny Black birthday dog.  I decided to pull him out to create a card for my niece using the Mojo Monday Sketch #335.  She is working with dogs every day and I think she will enjoy this.

I colored the image with STAEDTLER Karat Aquarell watercolor pencils and paired the image with Authentique Paper.

Have a great Friday!

Starry Birthday

March is a big birthday month in our family.  Birthday cards are in big demand so I have been trying to make up a stash.

I was playing with another project where I had a few different stars cut out and wanted to mist them in blue.  I decided to get the excess by laying them on another scrap of cardstock.  That ended up being my background on this card.

After I cut my background down and added stamped stars with a few star gems.  A quick and easy birthday card.

Have a happy Thursday!

A Weathered Voyage

Tick Tock!  Time for another challenge at  Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge    and this week is about time.

I had just received the Wendy Vecchi Art Parts - Artful Shrine which inspired thoughts of a dome clock.

I started by applying Versamark Ink over the surfaces of the pieces and heat embossing with Aged Gold Embossing Enamel.  I also cut a coordinating circle frame from cardboard which recieved the same treatment.

After everything was covered I inked up the woodgrain stamp with versamark. I then heated up the embossing enamel and pressed the stamp into the embossing enamel.  I repeated the process until all the surfaces were covered in textured gold.

I pop dotted the pieces together to create a layered effect.

I stamped the images using a mix of inks and cut out the pieces out to place along the bottom. I also created my clock face with numbers, clock hands and stamped the ship in the background.  Of course after I finished my clock face I realized I should have turned the numbers around on the bottom. :)

Voyage

It's March 1st which means time to play along with the March tag from Tim Holtz.

As you can see I was trying out Tim's smudge technique with the fully inked and the shadow stamped version.

Here is my finished tag:
I went a different route. I loved the birds and nature theme from Tim and can't wait for my new stamps to ship so I can play with them but decided to use a Stampers Anonymous Travel Away set.  I haven't inked up this set and was glad to play with them on my tag.

I added a hint of color on my images using STAEDTLER karat Aquarell watercolor pencils.

I used Ranger Distress Inks - Fired Brick for the red images and Memento - Jet Black for the black images.  I also used the Visual Artistry The Journey and Stampers Anonymous Classics 1.

Have a lovely Saturday!
