Bold Watercolor

It's time for Stamptember at Simon Says Stamp! 

 That means lots of fun, stamping, guest designers, techniques and new products!

To kick that off the Simon Says Stamp Monday DT are doing some bold stamping  this week at  Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge.   .I decided to experiment using a soft watercolor stamp to see if I could achieve a bold statement with the soft stamp.

I used a variety of mists, inks, Pan Pastels and stamps to create different effects with the flower.

I used the Pan Pastel applicator and blended a variety of the colors on the stamp and spritzed it with a gold glimmer mist and stamped it.  I the applied the same layer of pan pastels with a touch of mist to the script.  The sentiment was stamped with ink.

This flower was inked up with watercolor markers and spritzed with the same gold mist and stamped. 

This one ended up being my favorite and it is a mix of pan pastels and stamped splatter in the background with ink.

I loved the series of cards and the effect of the pan pastels with a hint of shimmer from the gold mist.

Journal

I have been busy lately with my day job and having little time to craft and also feeling very uninspired because I like to think about projects and when I have so little time and too tired I have a hard time creating.  Then I saw Julie Fei Fan Balzer Art Journal Every Day Challenge  which challenges you to spend 10 minutes a day in your journal.  Well I have ten minutes and if nothing else it gives you a chance to try out ideas, thoughts, techniques or just express how you are feeling.   I decided to use that for my inspiration and pulled out my journal.

You can see I actually started two pages but ended up only finishing one side:

Hinged ATC

A Vintage Journey's Challenge #13 hosted by Allison is ATC's.  I pulled a few more of the scraps (I know my scrap pile is huge!)  and started with a few misted backgrounds. I knew I waned a hinged ATC with a door.  I used the dwelling as the doorway to the destiny.

 When you open it up you see the destiny to your dreams.

I used a variety of Visual Artistry and Stampers Anonymous stamps and Ranger Distress inks to distress the edges.

Sea Horses

There is just something about sea-horses.  After seeing all the pretty sea-horses out in blog land I ordered the die and got busy cutting a bunch of them out.
 

I also had a new stencil from Memory Box that I love because it is a mix of stars and circles. I decided to use that with orange dye ink on my sea-horses.  I then created a mixed media background to put them on with a mix of mists and embossing paste.

The sea-weed is a pretty die from Memory Box misted with yellow and green and just a touch of mica flakes in the background.

Love, Dream, Wish

I have to admit I love the feel and look of kraft.  The neutral background spawns all kinds of ideas and this week at  Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge   is witch-kraft.   I happened to have a paper bag sitting on my desk and was inspired to use this as the base for my project this week.

The sweet girl was brand new and sitting on my desk and I ended up stamping her and using her on multiple projects.

A quick coat of white paint to create a backdrop.  I then used up some different scraps to layer on the bag including a leftover misted background with some white paint.  I stamped the image on a pink inspired background.  I stamped her using a kraft inspired ink and added some fun accents.

I even gave her a little bench to sit on with a pen nib. I have to admit I have been using the Simon Says Stamp sequins quite frequently and they are my new obsession.

Splatter

Hi!  I decided to play along with the Card Concept Challenge #17.  The colors were very inspiring and I like the fact that the challenge lets you pick your style to play along.

 I did to clean and graphic cards.

 I played with a mix of lime green paint and gold glimmer mist. Once it was a nice watery mixture I used a paint brush to splatter the paint in the corner of a white card.  I laid down a strip of cardstock down first to leave the room for the sentiment.

The other card was splattered with a toothbrush to give a more splattered effect.

Work in Progress

Howdy!

I snuck in a little time in my studio this morning.

 First an update on the little houses.  I added some DarkRoom Door sentiments to them. 

 I used acetate to stamp them on and then attached them.

 Still working on what images I will use but I like putting the acetate on as if I don't like them or want to reposition I still can.

I also created a quick card using the Wallflower paper from Tim Holtz.

I wanted to use some of this pretty paper and this was a quick and easy card which also boosts up my birthday cards to send out!

Anything Goes this week at  Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge! I am still working through my backgrounds and scraps to put together into different projects.  

This came together pretty quickly with a few scraps laying around my desktop.

I started with a mix of paints rolled onto a gelli plate. I wanted to use neutral earthy colors and a touch of gold.  

I created several backgrounds with the mix of paints on the gelli plate onto white cardstock.  I stored them away in my background file.   When I was looking for something to play with I pulled out one of the backgrounds.

 I added a few different pieces of paper tape in random areas of the background. I then stamped the wordblock over the background.  I used a stencil to add a layer of embossing paste and painted it with a touch of light yellow paint.

From there I decided to cut a piece for my card.  Now for the fun part... I left it on my desk scratching my brain trying to figure out what to use it with.  A few die cut feathers fell on the background. and that is when it all started to come together. 

I stamped the buck using brown ink and cut him out.  I stamped the compass on a wood button.  I sponged the feathers and added a touch of script.  I applied crackle glaze over the feathers and the button.

Today

I was in my studio this morning and I had three different projects going at once.  I got this project to his point and really loved what it looked like and decided to stop as I am not sure what I want to do next.

 I had die cut these houses (Impression Obsession Die) from some painted scraps.  I then added a layer of Hero Arts White In swiped down the front to add a white washed effect.

I pulled the Weathered clock scraps (Die cut from some more painted backgrounds) and cut them up to fit onto the backgrounds.

I added stamping in the background using Darkroom Door Texture Stamps (French Script, Floral).

I sponged on some white acrylic paint over the weathered clock die cut and around the edges.  I mixed a touch of blue watercolor pencil on the die cut.

Now I need to decide whether to make a house with the four sides, a mini book or a trip-tych. I will post updates as I continue on this creative endeavor.

AO ATB

 Happy Friday!  Another long week for me. I squeezed in a little time this morning to create an ATB. I had high hopes for this little box but not sure I got quite the effect I intended.  I created this for the Frilly & Funky ATB challenge sponsored by the Frilly & Funky Boutique and the Artistic Outpost Monthly Challenge.

 I love these figures from AO and I mixed two sets and they started the design of my ATB.

 I used the Wallflower Paper from Tim Holtz as the base of my box and my clocks.

Tiny Grungy Tags

The Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge is  all scratched up!  I saw the word grungy and I knew I wanted to distress the edges with some brown dye ink.

I love my tags and decided to use some blank tickets and just parse out bits of different stamps and create little mini tags.

I had fun pulling out the various sets to find images to place on the stamps.

Who can resist butterflies?

I have been wanting to use this pear stamp and never had the chance.

This lady also never was inked up before so I was happy to put her on this tag.

I loved giving him a rainy background and the quote is perfect with the image.

I waned to show what a difference a touch of color around the edges can make:

I think the sponged brown adds depth and creates a highlight which draws the eye to the main image.

TIme Flies

Based on my big cleanup yesterday with my scraps I decided to use some of the scraps I die cut. I used the Sizzix village shapes and turn them upside down to create tags. My theme is inspired by The Vintage Journey Time Flies Challenge.  The DT is extremely talented and inspirational.

I turned my shapes upside down and layered them together to form a mini book.

Anniversary Cards

This morning I decided to clean up my desktop and cut some shapes.  Sometimes when I am lacking in my mojo just cleaning up my desk and putting things away makes me feel like I accomplished something.  I pulled out my big shot and my pile backgrounds and cut away while watching several old murder mysteries.

This card came from a messy piece of gray/black glimmer mist on a piece of cardstock.

 I needed an anniversary card for my SIL & hubby.  I die cut a series of hearts from the scrap.  I cut them and set them aside. 

The design was inspired from the card below. Sometimes I end up with pieces that don't work with the card I am working on and that is what happened with this.  I ended up adding a fine mist of pink glimmer mist.  

When I decided to create my card I actually had another card pieces cut waiting to be used.  I had cut two pieces on an angle to use as a top layer.    I created this card first and used the same effect on the first card.

This uses a new stencil from Memory Box with the Wendy Vecchi Silver Embossing Paste. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Exclusive set called Beautiful Words.
