Christmas Wishes

Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge is getting us ready for the holidays!  A tag, gift wrapping, card or any other holiday inspired project will do...  I had some lovely speckled ink left over from another project that had me reaching for my vintage Santa stamps to stamp onto the inky background. 

I was working on another project which was consuming a lot of black, gold and white sprays and after I splattered my project I had many little dots left over.  I just laid my white cardstock into the spots and repeated until I picked up all the extra ink.

I then stamped Santa on the background.  Added a touch of color to his cheeks.  I found some of the ideology remnants in my stash and rubbed them on. A hint of sequins and a quick holiday card. 

Onto my second project for today... I was inspired to create a series of holiday tags bird inspired and I decided to create a series of tags leading up to Christmas.  The project overall was a lot of fun and made me realize just how many bird stamps, stencils and misc embellishments aviary inspired!

I stamped the background using a coral ink and smeared the surface with white ink which made it much more pink.  I love these owls and he made a great start to my Day 1 tag!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to my U.S. friends.  We have a big day of family planned today, unfortunately some of the family has the flu so we will see if anyone has to stay home. 

I wanted to share my tag inspired by Linda's latest masterpiece Tag #9 in her 12 tags of Christmas sponsored by her Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Her tag is all elegant black, gold and vellum... I bet you want to see it!  It is gorgeous...

I am in love with how this turned out.  Thanks Linda for the inspiration! 

I stenciled the background with gold embossing paste I used the new Prima Crackle paste and I wish I had used Wendy Vecchi's only because of the effect I was going to. I am definitely going to play some more with the crackle paste.

I then waited for it to dry. I hate wait time. :)  I then sprayed ranger distress spray (soot) over the surface and let it dry. (Okay I helped it along with the heat gun)

I stamped the Hero Arts stamp over a sheet of vellum and then embossed it with the Ranger Embossing Powder Queens gold. (One of my all time favorites).   I didn't want to make the rosette that Linda made (But you really should see it as it is fabulous),  instead I decided on a vellum poinsettia.  After I positioned the flower in the bottom left I decided to use the leftovers to make a smaller version in the top right.

Then I decided a black tag with gold lettering would finish it off.  

I send joy to you on this Thanksgiving day and I hope you are spending it with loved ones.

Shimmery Wreath

I can't remember if I shared this previously but I thought I would share it now.  I created this awhile ago to show off the new Stampendous leaf dies and my new favorite Stampendous Luxe Mica/Glitter mix.

I die cut the leaves and embossed them with a mix of the black/gold embossing powder and then added a whole 

I cut a wring of cardboard to hot glue them onto and then twined in some shimmery tulle and finished it with a black bow. 

The end result was a shimmery elegant wreath.

This card started with a shabby chic & sewing theme based on  the Vintage Journey All Sewn Up. .  I had all these ideas running around in my head and I definitely didn't end up where I thought I would.  The inking on my die cuts are

I started with the Darkroom door chicken wire background stamp stamped in gray.  I die cut the dress form and weathered clock and inked them up with a mix of cool peri and gray inks.  I added a little heart die cut from an old quilt.

I died the rosettes to match and added the cherish.  I decided it still needed something and added the angel wings which I am not sure whether I like.  In real life this is very soft and pretty but didn't photograph that well.

Sparkling Santa

I am enjoyingg some time to actually play in my craft room and have been out looking for challenges to inspire me.  I found a challenge called Cardabilities which has inspiring art and sketches and the Mixed Media Card Challenge which gives me a chance to mix up my textures on a card and more inspiration.

 I love these vintage Santa images and I probably have about 4 different stamps Vintage St. Nick.  This one is from LaBlanche and worked well with the sketch.

 I stamped him with Archival ink and colored him with STAEDTLER Karat Aquareall watercolor pencils and a waterbrush.

I added a splatter with a mix of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Patina and Ranger Spray - Silver.  The Joy to You is an old stamp from Hero Arts stamped in Ranger Archival Ink. I layered in a few stars, feathers, and some swirly branches.

Be Merry

Tag #8 for Linda's Funkie Junkie 12 Tags challenge sponsored by her boutique the Funkie Junkie Boutique.  She has a charming homespun Christmas tag this week.

 I was thinking old fashioned Christmas and had the Graphic 45 School Days paper which had me stencilling letters and rulers.

 A hint of Ranger Distress Spray (Barn Door & Walnut Stain)   and a lovely deep red. 

The next step was to find some adornments I added some snowflakes and stars to accentuate the tag.

 The stamps are Indigo Blue and Artistic Outpost - Snowy Woods.  The snowflakes are Stampendous dies which are fun because you can layer them to get solid or outline snowflakes.  Sponged with a touch of Aged Mahogany and Vintage Photo.  The tiny snowflakes are punches.

Love You All the Way to The Moon

Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge this week challenges us to the moon.  I knew that I was going to scrap a page with with my youngest.  One of our favorite nighttime stories is the book "Guess How Much I love you?"   This started a nightly tradition of saying how much we loved each other.

We always tried to top each other and I loved that she came up with all the way to baby Jesus star and back.

I had a fantastic time creating this layout and loved how the page turned out even before I put the words and the photo into my moon.

The background was started with a mix of embossing paste applied over a star stencil.  I let that dry and then came back in with a shimmery gold mist sprayed over the entire surface.  I cut out a large circle to use to trace my moon in with watercolor pencil. I used a waterbrush to soften the edges.

I also cut a series of stars using a variety of dies which I then stamped with script.  I popped some of the stars up and left some layered under.   I added a touch of shadows with a blue watercolor pencil.  I added a mix of sequins in the background.

I printed out the words and cut them up to frame the circle. along with the image which worked in hanging off the edge of the moon.

Silent Night

Today's post was inspired by a challenge but I ended up not following the challenge. :)  I loved one of the DT Members beautiful project and I wanted to play along so here we are...

The glorious tag created by Gayle that inspired me is here.

I love that she used pink for Christmas.  Mine is a brayered background using a pink Stampin up ink pad over stenciled and embossed with clear embossing powder.

I die cut the Sizzix deer and Memory Box wreath from white cardstock. I added a sentiment from a very old Hero Arts stamp.

I love the white and pink combo... I see a series of cards for the holidays being made in pink! :)

Oh Deer!

A beautiful texture of monochromatic beauty is my inspiration today from Tag #7 - Linda's Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas sponsored by her Funkie Junkie Boutique.  I also was inspired by the Card Concept Krafty challenge which I definitely am the shabby chic style on this one!

 Linda's tag is full of beautiful monochromatic texture.  I am seeing so many new dies that are so pretty and I am getting very tempted to buy them.  I am improvising with one of my favorite dies (Sizzix Deer)

I painted a kraft envelope with white paint.  I then layered on tattered rose, vintage photo, gold distress stain, tea dye, and picket fence distress spays to cover the background and he pine branches.  I embossed the envelope an deer with an embossing paste called Wood Icing that is a neutral color.  

At the end I added a sponging of white on he surface of the embossing to bring forth the embossed layer.

Skating Along

I am skating along this week for the ornaments challenge at  Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge.   

I have had the fabulous skate die cut and been wanting to play with them because they bring back fond memories of the heating house where we went in to have hot chocolate after skating on the lake.

We always anxiously awaited the light on the house to change to green when it meant that it was safe to skate on the lake.  

I cut multiple layers to my skates to achieve a dimensional pair of skates which can be attached to a package and then hung on the tree as reminder of the gift.

I cut a pair of cardboard skates, metallic skates (2 pair) and white cardstock (2 pair).

After I cut them I then stamped the floral pattern on the white cardstock and sponged the edges.
I then assembled them so I had front and back covered with the stamped outsides with a tiny hoop from ribbon on each skate.   To finish them I took two needles and white thing twine and sewed up the two pieces together. I added a few Christmas Bells to dangle on the skates and tied them together.

Golden Christmas SeaHorse?

I'm baackkk!  I have been working on a project which I haven't even finished that is going to be a feature in december on my blog. Looking forward to sharing it with you!  Today I took time out to play inspired by Linda's Tag #6 in her 12 tags of Christmas sponsored by her Funkie Junkie Boutique. 

Linda's tag is a monochrome of golden browns and I took that to the golden extreme!

 I used up my Heidi Swapp Gold Lame Spray on all the pieces.  I paired that with the Ranger Distress Stain (Brass).  I was liberal with my Stampendous Crushed Gold Glass Glitter.

I die cut the seahorse and sand dollar and starfishes from the Sizzix Tim Holt Die.  I colored them with the spray. 

I stamped the background with the Impression Obsession cover a card stamp with brown ink.  I took a few felt snowflake colored them with the distress stain and added a touch of the glitter to sprinkle over the surface.

Silvery Snowflakes

Lovely transition from Saturday's silvery stars to today's silvery snowflakes.   The challenge this week at  Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge   is the good old times.  One of the things I love about Simon Says Stamp is that you can find a variety of stamps including some oldies but goodies.   I decided to look through my stamps for some of the my favorite older stamps that Simon Says Stamp has in the store to showcase.

I also wanted to try something new using embossing paste.  I wanted to make an impression embossing paste using my stamps.

My first thought was to cover cardstock with the silver embossing paste (Wendy Vecchi) and cover the embossing paste with clear plastic wrap.  I then pressed my favorite Hero Arts Snowflake designblock into the paste covered by the plastic wrap.  My thought was to let it dry and then pull the plastic wrap. Of course I was too impatient and pulled it off too early and pulled up some of the embossing paste.  A messy example.

Round Two:

I sprayed my paper with the shimmery gold spray first and then a thin layer of embossing paste.  I inked up my rubber stamp with versamark ink and pressed it directly into the embossing paste and pulled up the stamp. Voila a beautiful shimmery silver background.  I set that aside to dry overnight. I immediately cleaned my stamp to prevent any embossing paste from staying on the stamp. It looks just like the faux metal technique. Very cool!

Next up I went for an uneven application of embossing paste and stamped into it.

I started with a misted background using the blue spray.  Let that dry and then splodged on some embossing paste.  I stamped it again with the same stamp. After it dried I pulled together a card.

I tied the tulle around the background.  I die cut the rosette die from white cardstock.  I then embossed it with silver embossing powder. 

I added the Merry Christmas tag and embossed the edges of the stamped sentiment using silver tinsel embossing powder.

Butterfly Frames

Tim's November Tag inspired a few different projects for me. I am sharing two today and saved one for next week.  I loved the idea of the die cut in the corrugated cardboard with the embossed image inside of the opening.   I don't have a coordinating embossing folder with the die but I do have the beautiful Memory Box outline die and then the overlay butterfly die.  That had me thinking of faux embossing and inspired my tag and card. 

I ended up playing and ended up with a tag and a card.  I used Ranger Distress Sprays (Marmalade, Mustard, Bronze, Soot) to create my background colors.  I then die cut the overlay from the same background and sponged it with brown on one and sprayed in black the other.

I cut the outline of the butterfly from corrugated cardboard.  I layered the pieces together and added the sprinkling of the distress sprays including the white picket fences.

I finished my tag with wood button covered in Tim Holtz Tissue paper died to match.  I added a few rub ons from Idea-ology.

Silvery Stars

I am back with my tag for Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Tag #5 hosted by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

 Linda's tag is stunning. I didn't have the stencil she used so I had to try a variety of methods to get to rays in silver. I ended up using an embossing folder and silver paint. 

I used Wendy Vecchi silver embossing paste on the stars and while it was wet I sprinkled it with Stampendous Silver glitter to give them a shimmer.
