Golden Dreams

Hi!  Long time no see...  Time just keeps slipping by... I am back to share a card for the current Frilly and Funkie Challenge - "With this Ring".

Cec is hosting the challenge and here is how she describes it:  "It is wedding season so let's create vintage or shabby chic projects that celebrate the big day. Your creation might be a card, a gift, a decor item or something to keep the memories of the special occasion."

I originally was going to create a groom's card with rich textures and vintage images but just got my order from Frilly and Funkie and couldn't wait to play with some of the goodies.  I decided to create a card for the Flower Girl as a thank you.

I ordered this fun stamp from Carabelle called Celine and I love her attitude and I thought she would be the perfect addition to a Flower girl's card.

I started with this beautiful new paint from Art Alchemy called Unicorn's Hair and painted through the stencil a smattering of gold.  I then continued on and painted Wendy's circle stamp and stamped that over the dots.

I stamped on some script and the word dream using black archival ink after the paint had dried.  I die cut a butterfly and painted it gold.  I waited for that to dry and stamped over that as well with some text.

The girl was stamped on white cardstock using black archival ink. I then cut her out using my detail scissors. I added touches of glitter to her using a fine tip glue pen and then sprinkling her with the glitter. The butterfly and the word dream also received a glittery finish.

I had so much fun playing with my new toys. I hope you are inspired to play along with us in the challenge!

At the end of the challenge the team will choose their top four picks. Our first place winner will be invited to join us for a Guest Designer spot here at Frilly and Funkie. Three additional talented participants will receive badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and adheres to the challenge guidelines will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique!

Happy 3D Birthday!

Happy Sunday!

I wanted to share a card I made from leftovers from my last project with the butterflies and tiny tattered florals.

After I finished my canvas with the butterflies and flowers,  I cleaned up my desk.  While cleaning I  found the long strip of cardstock with the negative images of the flowers I had cut out.

I thought what a pretty strip of paper.   I decided to use it as a stencil and laid it over another piece of cardstock and sprayed a mix of yellow orange and red.

The beauty of that was I ended up with two strips of cardstock one with the sprayed flowers. (I haven't used it yet) and the other the die cut strip with a mix of flowers.  I decided to take that and cut off a section and foam dot it up onto a white cardbase and voila a card!

All I had to do was stamp a sentiment and add some seed beads as the centers and add a sentiment to the inside.

A different angle to show the shadowing of the cut-outs.

Have a blessed sunday!

You're My Inspiration

It is time for another Funkie DT share for the current Frilly and Funkie Challenge "You're my Inspiration".
The wonderful Nancy is hosting and here is how she describes the challenge:

"Simply find any type of image or photo that inspires you to create a vintage or shabby chic project. Please post your inspiration image on your blog along with your project, and tell us what it is you love about it. The inspiration image does not need to be included as part of your project, just on your blog post."

I have a confession to make... I love reading magazines... I don't mind browsing on line but there is so much I love about snuggling in bed flipping the pages of the magazines and getting ideas.  I keep a sketch/art journal by the bed and as I see an idea that inspires me I sketch, write or sometimes tear a page out and stick it in the book for later inspiration.

My art today was inspired by one of those sessions. I was looking in through the Stampington's Somerset Summer Studio Gallery and I saw this canvas from Donna Salazar.

I loved that she had so much negative space and yet it was so beautiful with the edge of flowers.  I put that aside along with a few other projects that I want to try from this issue.

I spent some time layering in paint in the background followed up with stenciled texture using the crackle embossing paste. While that was wet I misted with brown and pink sprays. I let that drip and dry before adding my verse.

Then the butterflies and flowers were misted with antique linen and dipped in distress oxide worn lipstick for hints of pink.

The butterflies were stamped in brown ink with lettering and labels.  I added a smattering of old buttons and sponged the edges of everything with brown dye ink.

I hope this has you thinking of your inspiration so you can come join  us in the fun!  At the end of the challenge the team will choose their top four picks. Our first place winner will be invited to join us in a Guest DT spot here at Frilly and Funkie. Three additional talented participants will receive badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and adheres to the challenge guidelines will be entered into a drawing to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique!
