Trick or Treat

A little of both... I am sharing the trick on how to do his fold on the Simon Says Stamp blog and I hope it will be a treat for you! The challenge this week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is to create something that is a treat.
I wanted to share a fold that I used on a card a long time ago which is very popular on pinterest and thought is would be fun to re-visit it with a Halloween theme.

This card is being sent off to my son with a treat inside.  I used a wonderful mix of Halloween goodies including: Stampers Anonymous - PoisonousPaper Artsy - Hot Picks 1205, Ranger Distress Sprays - Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Salty Ocean, Tim Holtz - Idea-ology - Apothecary Rub-Ons

Beauty of the Season

Good Day! I had time to ink up yesterday inspired by Linda's Tag #4 and her challenge is sponsored by her Funkie Junkie Boutique.  I am working on her next tag as well and can't wait to share that!

Linda's tag had such a lovely old fashioned Christmas.  I started with the stencil in the background in a bundled sage. From there I loved the soft greens I just continued and only added in the browns. Linda's tag had a sweet tag on top of the tag which inspired my little scene.

Products: Ranger Distress Inks - Walnut Stain, Bundled Sage, Ranger Archival Ink - Potting Soil, Memory Box - Deers, Artistic Outpost - Midwinter, Artistic Outpost - Home, Tim Holtz Stencil - Holly

Have a fabulous Tuesday!

Confirmation Cards

We just celebrated my youngest confirmation which was a lovely mass. My poor DD had to wait for me to finish her card a day late.

I ended up with two versions and shared them with her.
I wanted to take the pink off after I finished but I knew she would like a pop of color so I used the neon inks and the flower is much closer in color to the ink than the way he picture reflects.

The stamps and die are from Our Daily Bread Designs. They have a wonderful collection of christian based stamps and the perfect collection to use while creating my card.

I hope your week has started off well!

Joy

Yeah it is Thursday and we are almost rolling into the weekend. :)  I have to say I think this is my first holiday card for this  year.  I have made some tags but not a card yet.

I created a whole piece of cardstock using the Darkroom Door Eclectic Snowflake stamp.  I painted it with white acrylic paint and stamped it on the white cardstock. I repeated the process until I had the whole paper covered.  I let that dry.

I pulled out a mix of Ranger Distress Sprays and started with Iced Spruce.  I didn't like the color so I kept adding in sprays until I got a lovely dark gray background.  After that dried I splattered with the white, blue and silver sprays.  You can't see it in the photo but the silver is gorgeous dew drops in the light.

After that I cut it into multiple pieces to use on cards and this is the first one cut at an angle, distressed around the edges and accented with the Darkroom Door Wordstrips - Yuletide.

Now I have a few more pieces of this lovely background to play with.  Have a wonderful Thursday!

Beach Treasure

How about a little summer?  The weather has definitely gotten very cool the last couple of days.  I was happy to ink up a pile of seashells and color them.

I used a touch of embossing powder to make my image pop because this was stamped over a painted background.  I started with neutral colors in the background which I thought would be perfect for the shells.  After I stamped I embossed with brown embossing powder.  I then colored the images with STAEDTLER Karat Aquarell watercolor pencils.  I used the Darkroom Door new Shells Background Stamp and the words are from the DarkRoom Door Seaside Wordstrips.  I had fun picking out which words to  use on the card.

My final touch was the mixed twine with a poinsettia. Yep... I cut off a few of the poinsettia petals to try to make a starfish. :)   There is a little bit of sand glued around the edges but difficult to see in the photo.

Well I hope I warmed up your day a bit and took you on a little sea-side break.

Toodles!

My Wish For You

Happy Tuesday!  This is a card which was made for my younger sister's birthday which is coming up shortly.  I decided to play with Gold Leaf as she has some beautiful paintings she created using gold leaf which inspired me.

I ended up with a piece of art larger than a card because of this cool stencil from StencilGirl which I laid down and applied Wendy Vecchi translucent embossing paste.  After I applied it I waited for it to dry for a short time.

After it started drying and and laid gold leaf sheets over the paste and let it dry. Once dry I brushed off the excess gold leaf. I covered the paper with Ranger Distress Spray Peacock Feathers.  I then just added the beautiful sentiment from Verses Rubber Stamps.  I think she will enjoy the effect of the gold leaf on the stenciled paste.

Anything Goes!

The  Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge   this week is anything goes!  I made myself a challenge of using the same few sets of stamps to create three different ATC's.

I used some leftover pieces on my desktop of inky backgrounds to jump start my ATC's.  Sometimes the ugliest little scraps can turn into something you enjoy creating.

My ATC's feature the dashing gentlemen from the DarkRoom Door  Dashing.

I finished with a tag ATC:
After I finished my trio I wanted to ink up one more of the dashing gentlemen so I pulled out another scrap of green misted background and created one more ATC.

Snowflake Wonder

Tag # 3 for Linda's Funkie Junkie Twelve Tags sponsored by her Funkie Junkie Boutique
Linda's tag has beautiful swirling snowflakes.  I used what I had on hand to try to emulate the loveliness of her tag.

I used a snowflake embossing folder to create a soft background with Ranger Distress Ink - Saphire blue.  I then die cut and punched some snowflakes to layer on the top. I stamped the Memory Box sentiment on vellum and cut to fill and added a touch of lace.

I tried a few other colors and a mist on the embossing folder.

But didn't get a chance to finish making them. It was a pretty busy week here.  Looking forward to some downtime and crafty time.

DominO

The  Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge.  is featuring the letter O for October.  I was thinking Halloween and Dominoes.  I decided to create a little domino book featuring some spooky images.

I started with a metallic cover for the front and back and around the edges I used a gold tape with a touch of inking to distress it. I used a few silver beads for my feet.

The full book one more time:

I sprayed cardstock with a mix of gold and brown sprays to get the color on he backgrounds.  The metal pieces are aluminum foil embossed with an embossing folder.  They are painted in black with a touch of gold and silver paint all mixed in.  I sanded the surface at the end when it was dry to showcase the original silver underlying.

Leafy Inspiration

After making my leafy canvas I needed a quick birthday card for my dad.  I saw this cover on one of the home magazines with this gorgeous blue glass jar with the fall leaves sprays sticking out from the jar.  I kept that image in my mind and decided to do a play on the blue background and fall colors again.

I started with the weathered clock which I sprayed with the brown Ranger Spray and distressed with a hint of the Hero Arts white ink pad.

My dad was pleased with his card and that is the main thing. :)  I was tempted to put something in the background but kept it simple for him.

The leaves are Sizzix tattered leaves and mini leaves.  The paper is from the Tim Holtz Wallflower pad of paper.

Have a lovely Friday!

Rustic Christmas Tag

Tag #2 from Linda at The Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas sponsored by Linda's FunkieJunkie Boutique.

I was inspired by the checkerboard pattern on the bottom of Linda's tag and started think Little House on the Prairie Christmas.   I tried to think of alternative stamps to use because I don't have the pretty Wendy Vecchi set of images.  I just received he new Darkroom Door Brushed Christmas Vol 1 which had a tree (inspired by Linda's tag) and it looks like wood grain.

I used the DarkRoom Door Weathered Stripes and criss-crossed them using Aged Mahogeny Ranger Distress Inks.  The ribbons and flowers were died with Aged Mahogeny ink.  I outlined the tree using STAEDTLER Karat Aquarell watercolor pencils.

I inked up some beautiful lace from the boutique using the ranger distress sprays (also from the Funkie Junkie boutique) I cut it apart and used the top strip to outline my stripes.  I used the scallops to create a clam shell type of arrangement topped off with a flower.

Falling in love all over again

I admit it Fall is my favorite season.  I love crisp days, apple picking, corn mazes, and warm and fuzzy slippers.    Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge.  is all about falling in love... I took my inspiration from Fall.

I am obsessed with die cut leaves and putting together arrangements with the leaves.

I die cut a series of leaves in different papers and used them to create a fall canvas.  I cut the leaves from text book pages, veneer, paper and white cardstock.

I used a stencil to add a layer of embossing paste on the leaves.  I then used Ranger Distress sprays to add my autumn colors. I sprayed burlap with brown and shredded it to add some tendrils.

My canvas is a mix of mists and embossing paste over a burlap canvas.  I added a coat of gesso to the canvas before applying paste and sprays.  I then added a piece of chicken wire ribbon.

Products:  Sizzix Leaves, Sizzix Mini Leaves, Ranger Distress Sprays - Wild Honey, Mustard, Fire Brick, Walnut Stain, Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Turquoise, Gesso, Burlap, Stampers Anonymous Tiny Words, Tim Holtz Bubble Stencil, Tim Holtz - Measured Stencil

Christmas Tag #1

Tag #2 inspired by Linda's wonderful Twelve Tags of Christmas - Tag #1 .   Her challenge runs from now until December and is sponsored by her boutique The Funkie Junkie Boutique.   Her beautiful tag used the traditional greens and reds with a lovely mix of holiday images.

My design was inspired by  different bits and pieces from Linda's tag I used the colors the tag on tag layout and some of the stamps.  The background was sprayed with the new Ranger Distress sprays which I just splurged and bought for myself from Linda's boutique.  The boutique has them listed at a sale price which was a great deal.  A lot of the boutique's items are on sale all the time!
