Vintage Valentine

Hi!  Time for another wonderful challenge at Frilly and Funkie!  The Challenge this time around is hosted by the fabulous Maggi and she has aked us to share a Vintage Valentine.

"It's sweetheart time and what could be more fun than creating Valentine's for our loved ones? For this challenge we want to see vintage valentines in vintage colors like pinks, blues, purples. No bright red please. Show us your vintage side with vintage colors and images. If you need some inspiration, click here to link to a great vintage color palette."

I started with a vintage heart tin.  I decided to layer in some images over a sweet piece of wallpaper.

I stamped the Elizabeth Barrett Brown poem over the background.  I then added the splattering of paint along with the fun couple  from the paper dolls.

I died the pearls, flowers and seam binding with pinks and brown hues using Ranger Distress Inks and Alcohol Ink (pearls).

I just layered in the image with foam squares and then added the flowers and ribbon.

I then got inspired to create a farm-house inspired valentine.

I started with the fabulous Prima Farm-House Papers and used that to dig out my sentiment from the remnant rub-ons.  I took a little license with the sentiment to make it cow appropriate. :)

I hope you are feeling inspired to join in the fun at the challenge.  The winner will earn the chance of a Guest Designer spot here at Frilly and Funkie, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. In addition, the Design Team will select three further outstanding entries and those creators will receive a Top Pick badge to display on their blogs!

Thanks for stopping by!

Inspired By

Welcome to a New Year!  I am sending you all blessings for a happy and blessed New Year!  The new challenge on the Frilly and Funkie Blog is "Inspired By" and hosted by the talented and creative Cec.  Here is how she describes the challenge:

"I don't have access to quality craft classes locally so I spend time online to learn new things. For this challenge I want you to create a vintage or shabby chic project inspired by or using a technique or tutorial that you have found online. You must provide a link to the site that is inspiring your creation and please do not make a direct copy of anything you found."

I like to use my magazines to look at different ideas but I also enjoy using the Splitcoaststampers forum with their awesome tutorials for new ideas.  I used the Double Diamond Fold by Joann Jamieson as my inspiration.

What I enjoyed about this fold is it stands open by itself beautifully and gives many surfaces to cover with different prints or stamped images.

After you first open it up it will look like this. I added a belt and a change so it looks a little messy but if you decorated with flowers or bits on each side it would look just as lovely just like this.

When it is fully open it give a whole other view!

This is partially open  and again has a fun view with different angles.

Closed up and ready to send off.

The winner will earn the chance of a Guest Designer spot here at Frilly and Funkie, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. And there are Top 3 Badges for three further outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team, because choosing just one winner is so hard!
