This card started from gauze that I had pulled for another project. I never got around to using it for the other project but decided I would distress it with some brown dye ink. The brown dye ink was smeared onto my craft mat and spritzed with water until a nice puddle of brown ink was there. The gauze was thrown into the puddle and smooshed around until it was a lovely shade of brown. After that I decided it looked like something you would see on the bottom of the ocean floor and that inspired my card.
I set it aside to dry. I then took some little shells and covered them in versamark and used my craft tweezers with the rubber handle to dip the shells in Stampendous Aged Bronze Embossing Enamel and heat embossed them. While they were still warm I quickly dipped them into the Gold Glass Glitter.
Next up was to stamp the beautiful Stampendous Mermaid and color her. I added some Mica Flakes to the bottom of the scales and colored them with copics to give a greenish copper color.
The background was stamped in brown using the Stampendous Calligraphy Sampler on white cardstock. The surface and edges were distressed with brown dye ink.
The gauze was attached to the background with white kraft glue and while it was wet the crushed glass glitter and mica flakes were sprinkled over the surface.
The main image was mounted onto ivory cardstock sponged with brown dye ink.
