Smear, Splatter, Splash

A little smear a little splatter and a little splash had my mojo going this week for the challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show.  Do you remember when the Electric Company show would end and they would say and today's show was brought to you by the letter "S".  Well Today's challenge is brought to you by the letter "S".  You interpret it anyway you want.  A song can inspire you, a technique, a person whatever starts with "S" you choose.

I started my project with the thought of making a big splash.

With that thought in mind I pulled out the Distress Stains and cardstock and started playing with the stains on my craft mat and lots of water which was spritzed and sprayed all over the colors.
I made several pieces of paper with a mix of the three colors and picked one of them to cut it to a tag size.
I stamped the flourish along the left side using a lovely teal colored ink. I then stamped the fern in the same color over on the right. I added a bit of text in the background using a green ink.

I stamped the fairy using black ink and colored her to coordinate with the butterfly stamped in teal. I took a clock face and painted it with the same colors to blend. I added a few metal corner pieces painted white

The wings on the fairy is inked up with versamark and heat embossed with a crystal embossing powder. The sentiment was stamped onto vellum with versamark. I heat embossed it withe embossing powder.  I painted the reverse side of the vellum with distress stains. This gave a nice touch of color behind the white embossing.  The tulle was painted with acrylic paint and the ribbon with the distress stain.

I added a touch of white embossing enamel around the edges.

  4. Wow! I love this. There are so many incredible details and techniques here yet they flow effortlessly (seemingly -- I know it took a great deal of effort) into a cohesive piece. That is talent and incredible artistic eye. Fabulous tag.

  5. Suzz...this tag is just gorgeous and I knew it was yours without even seeing who had created it. You have such a knack for stamping and over stamping! I love the colors and your design. That distress stain colored background that you started with is so pretty and you just continued to enhance it with each flourish and fern leaf! The little fairy is darling. Love the sentiment and how you've stamped it on vellum and then colorized the back. Just a lovely tag! <3 Candy

  9. The title of your post would indicate something "sloppy," but oh this tag is anything but that!!! It's beautiful, Suz! I haven't made anything for more than a week, but I'm inspired. I have so many of the stains, but have used them only 3 times.
