Sailing

It's funky time again over at the Frilly and Funkie Challenge!   Kathy is the host for this challenge which is.... "By The Sea".   She describes the challenge as:  It's summertime, and our minds turn toward the shore where we find sparkling sands, delicate shells and refreshing breezes.  Let's take a virtual beach trip by creating any kind of vintage or shabby chic project that features a nautical or beach theme and color palette.

I was thrilled to hear the challenge was Sea inspired as I have been wanting to create a sailboat forever.
I decided to create a journal page for my sailboat after I realized how big my boat was becoming when designing it!  :)
I started with creating a few panels for my sails and using a mix of mini stencils and distress inks to sponge on patterns.  I added stripes of black ink to make the sections pop.  The number was a masked off section of the numbers stencil.

The boat was stenciled with weather stripes on a grayish blue background.  I added layers of water with stamped text on white cardstock torn and layered to emulate the water around the boat.

What better sentiment than the Impression Obsession sentiment by Yvonne Blair for a sea inspired challenge.

Don't forget that the winner of the challenge will earn the chance of a Guest DT spot at Frilly and Funkie, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. And there are Top 3 Badges for three further outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  5. Suzz, this is just so fabulous! I don't know where the start...the background....scrumptious with all those lovely shades of blue and the stenciled stars...makes my heart happy. The sails on the boat...wow, wow, wow...so much fun and so beautifully composed. The waves...how perfect! And then you topped it all off with a magnificent sentiment. This needs a frame!
