Something Old

Happy Wednesday!  Today I am sharing my creation for the Frilly and Funkie Challenge "Something Old".  The challenge is hosted by Jenny and she describes the challenge as:

"I'm sure, like me, there will be lots of you who love all things vintage and enjoy nothing more than discovering old and unwanted treasure at thrift shops and junk markets. The challenge this time is to use something old either as the basis of your project or as an addition to your vintage or shabby chic creation."


This challenge had me digging through my assorted collection and I came across a bag of dominoes. 

I decided to play with creating domino charms.  They can easily be drilled with a little hole to hang on a pendant or turned into a domino book cover. 

I created three different ones to try out a few different ideas:

 I painted the surfaces with white paint.  I then used the blue distress oxide to coat the surface and then embossed with clear embossing powder to create a pretty blue background.  I then stamped the seahorse with some letters using black ink on tissue paper. I decoupaged it to the blue background. After that I embossed the edges with a gold embossing powder and finished with a smattering of crushed gold glitter.

Next up was an art deco domino.

 I stamped the image on white cardstock using black ink. I then added a little highlight with watercolor pencils and a waterbrush. I then sealed the image using versamark and multiple coats of clear embossing powder.

For my final I went back to my favorite butterflies.

I was pleased with my little collection of dominoes and will think of how to build them out in a necklace or into a book.
