Home, Sweet Home

Howdy!  It's Funkie time at the Frilly and Funkie Challenge blog!  The talented Sara Emily is hosting our challenge called "Home, Sweet Home".   She describes the challenge as:

"Whether your house is grand or modest, neat or messy, there's no place like home. Houses get bought and sold, but home stays with you forever. For this challenge, I would like to see how you interpret what home means to you on your vintage or shabby chic project."

I decided to mix it up with different stamps and things for me that represent home into a collage of ideas.

I started with a scheme to represent our physical home with a touch of bricks and colors.   The background is covered with gesso and then with stenciled bricks in crackle paste.

I pulled out the house dies and cut a lot of them. (They will be showing up in future posts for sure!) I had fun using a variety of stamps and colors to make them pop.

The various elements are just stamped, sponged, and layered.  Each element was selected to represent our family and home.

Hop over to check out the rest of the design teams beautiful inspirations of Home Sweet Home.  Get inspired and join us in the challenge!

The winner will earn the chance of a Guest Designer spot at Frilly and Funkie, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. And there are Top 3 Badges for three further outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Suzz, oh to be a butterfly on your craft room wall, where the magic happens! I adore this card, starting with the brick background and working through each creative layer! The pops of red with the otherwise neutral palette is so eye catching. I particularly love the ball chain embellishment. What a charming make! Sending hugs! Sara Emily

  7. I love the bleached driftwood look of this - so pale and elegant with those hits of vibrant red to warm it up. Brilliant collaging in 2D and 3D - just fabulous!
