Sweet Plum

This week at Simon Says stamp and Show we are sharing our favorite ink pads. One of my many favorite ink pads is the lovely Sweet Plum from Memento.  It wasn't easy to pick a favorite. Much of my inspiration is driven by color and I have a large selection of ink pads.

I decided to create a background by inking up the craft mat with the lovely plum color and spritzing it with water until it was liquid and dragging my cardstock through it.

After the background had dried I cut it to size. I then stamped the flowers up either side using a gray ink.  I added a touch of shading with gray watercolor pencils around the edges and a touch of purple around the edges.

I died seam binding to match by the same method as the background. I used the same ink on the craft mat with water and dragged tissue paper into the ink. I let this dry and then stamped script over the surface with gray ink.  After this was dry I die cut two butterflies from the tissue paper. I wanted a glossy finish on my butterflies and I inked them up with versamark watermark ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.

I accented the butterfly with two stickpins and a charming gem.

To finish off the card I added a banner with the sentiment on the top and mounted the image onto a white cardbase.

Those rich deep tones blended out with the lighter tones of plum are just gorgeous. I also love your embellishments. You always have such gorgeous projects! <3 Candy
