Just My Type

Hello!  Welcome back!  Today is Funkie Time on the Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog.  The Funkie side of the team is sharing their delightful and awesome projects for the current challenge: "Just My Type"

The current challenge is hosted by the extremely talented Jenny and this is how she describes the challenge:

"As a trained touch typist I love vintage typewriters. I love the way they look and sound and the font they create. For this challenge create a vintage or shabby chic project and include a typewriter, typewriter keys, typeface."

I knew right away I wanted to use the Stampers Anonymous Inventor 1 stamps.  I pulled out a ledger book in my stash to decorate to capture notes and measurements for a project I have going on.

I inked up some white cardstock using the Ranger Distress Oxides (Antique Linen & Ground Espresso).  I splattered, sponged and sprayed water to get a mixed distress effect.

I then used the ledger stencil to add a hint of brown ledger lines over the background.  I dug into my extensive collection of ephemera and found this lovely lady who reminded me of a secretary and a fantastic catalogue card from the library.

I stamped the old fashioned type writer over the back of one of the cards and layered them into the background.

I stamped the space bar along the bottom and then cut out the letters from the typewriter stamp to add as glossy letters.

On the inside I used the wallpaper pages to add a hint of colour and pattern.

And on the back side I continued with the library them and stamped the dates and columns and overlaid them with some pretty remnant rub-ons.

Now I have a fun little ledger to capture my notes for this project which is both functional and whimsical!

  1. Suzz, this is such a great project! I love the vintage color palette...it really ties all the elements together. Your inky panels are dreamy, too! What a treasure that old card catalog piece is! Wow! You will be inspired to come up with new techniques just so you can pull this beauty off the shelf and enjoy it! Such a clever, beautifully made way to present this challenge theme. Like everything you do, I love it!

  2. Suzz, you really knocked this theme out of the ballpark with your amazing vintage ledger! I love a project that is both beautiful and useful, and you have certainly pushed all my buttons with this one! I just love how you've used that typewriter stamp--one of my absolute favs! Great vintage coloring, too! Love this! Hugs!
