Mellow Yellow

How about some bright yellow sunshine?   Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge  this week is Mellow Yellow!  I was excited to play with yellows. 

I think I have been overdosing on the Stampers Anonymous bird.  He has been out on my desk quite a bit lately.

I decided to take an old wood plaque (green) and paint it to a lovely yellow color.  I painted it white with gesso.

I added a layer of Embossing Paste through the honeycomb stencil.  Then layers of yellow mists with a few coats of a darker yellow mist to provide shading.

I stamped the rulers using a gray ink and distressed the honey combs with a touch of brown dye ink.

Then a nest of ribbon died yellow, ruler stamped on ribbon, and raffia.  I added a few eggs in the nest.

I first finished my plaque and walked away to think about what I could add and I decided a branch full of flowers.

Outside I went to get a branch to add to the background.  I misted up tissue paper and cut layers of flowers and put them together on the branches.

Butterflies are in the Air

Welcome back for the final day in the Maya Road and Stampendous blog hop! Remember to go leave some love along the way for opportunities to win prizes.

I took a canvas tag book and turned  it into a wall hanging:

I spent the longest time playing with the hanger and trying to get it into the right shape. :)

I painted over the surface with Gesso.  I stamped music across the background with a few other postage stamps.  I stamped the butterflies on tissue paper and colored them with STAEDTLER Karat Aquarell  watercolor pencils. I then used Americana Decoupage to apply the butterflies.

I accented with the Maya Road ribbons and trims.

Christmas Mini Album

All this week the Stampendous Design Team is hopping with the Maya Road Design Team!  There are fun prizes and tons of inspiration.  Head over to the Stampendous Blog or the Maya Road Blog to find out who is hopping every day.  Make sure to leave comments along the way for a chance to win one of the prizes!

I started with a chipboard album.

I started with a coat of white paint and added texture with a woodgrain stencil.  I applied silver embossing paste over the stencil to create a wood grain effect.

I then stamped the stampendous birds using water resistant ink on white cardstock.  I colored the images using watercolor pencils. 

I accented the covers with burlap trim, twine and mini roses.  After I finished I decided to add snowflakes in the background.

Just Celebrate

How about a little red, white and blue?  Ranger Ink posted up a fresh summer color palette and I used that to inspire a 4th of July card.  July has quite a few birthdays in the family and many of them happen right around the Fourth of July.   This will go off to one of our nephews for his birthday.

Tag Day!

Tag Day!  Tim shared his May tag yesterday and I had to play around with the techniques this morning. I ended up creating two different tags.

My first tag;

 I loved Tim's technique of adding the clear stickers onto areas of the tag to resist the ink applied.  I didn't have too many of them in my sticker drawer so I used a few Christmas ones.  I added a few rub-ons.  I then stamped the Statue of Liberty and New York from the DarkRoom Door - New York Volume I set. I added highlights with the white gel pen. The background is distress stains.


I created a second tag: 

 I used a mix of rub-ons and clear stickers. I love the effect of the clear stickers as they keep it white.  I didn't have enough on hand to play around more. I used a mix of October Afternoon and Maya Road Rub-ons on this tag. I stamped the flowers form DarkRoom Door Garden Greetings.  I used my new Distress Stains (Thanks Lisa!) to ink up the background. 

I ripped my second tag!  I was trying to put a pearl brad in the dragonfly (Artistic Outpost) by piercing it with my stylus and the tag ripped right off.  ARGH!  I just taped it back together to finish photographing it. But I had fun and learned a few things along the way.

Mini Album

Happy April Fools Day!  I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!  Today is another fun Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge.  The challenge is NO RULES!  So create anything this week and join in on the challenge for an opportunity to win a $50.00 Gift Voucher at Simon Says Stamp.

I recently acquired the Jenni Bowlin Mini Album clear stamps and couldnt' wait to create a mini-album using these stamps. 

The front image is so lovely that all I did was mount it on embossed cardstock sponged in a coordinating color. I colored the images using STAEDTLER watercolor pencils.   I added a Studio Calico wooden bird inked to match.

 

I stamped the frame on multiple pieces of white cardstock for each of the pages in my mini-album.  I also created a mask and reverse mask by stamping the image on copy paper and cutting the center of the frame out.

I created mats for each of my pages by cutting white cardstock for each of my pages and embossing them with different embossing folders.

I then selected coordinating quotes to go with my images.  I also picked a background for each image and quote.

Get Sketchy #58 - Challenge and some Pumpkins!

Happy Tuesday!

 I am in a circle groove.  Saw this sketch from Get Sketchy Challenge #58 and loved the circles and lines.

Can you see the lines and circles in my spiderweb?  I was thinking how to incorporate the lines and circles from the design and the spiderweb caught in my mind. The spiderweb is a Hero Arts cling and it is a really nice size spiderweb stamp.  The baby spiders and sentiment are from an Inkadinkado set. The Big spider is from a Hero Arts Designblock and I used it to get the shape and then colored it in.

I already was thinking Halloween because I created these fun Chipboard pumpkins Sunday and shared them over on the Outside the Box blog.

These pumpkins are glimmer misted, sponged with rusty hinge and black dye ink.  They are stamped using versamark or versafine black onyx  and embossed using clear embossing powder or zing orange embossing powder. The stamps are Memory Box Spooky Collage and Halloween Collage.  I also used these really fun Clearsnap design adhesives which are in the shape of the spider and web and are rub-ons. They are double sided adhesive so I can stick them on the project and then use glitter, flocking, foil etc.  Very fun. I used the Clearsnap black charcoal glitter to add the accents to my spiders.
