Red & Rustic Christmas

 I was so happy to see the Tuesday Trigger from Moxie Fab World.  I had entered into the May Arts Deck the Halls with Burlap Monthly challenge.  They send you a few yards of ribbon and you have to create a project using them.  While the beautiful ribbon works perfectly with the lovely Moxie Fab trigger.

I started with creating banners using the lovely red stripes.  I sponged the edges after I cut them to add a little more fraying and distressing. The background is stamped using Hero Arts Old French Writing.  Distressed with a brown dye ink. Placed on a kraft card base.  The flowers were a pretty color but I wanted the red so I glimmer misted them with a nice red color. I created faux leaves with the burlap ribbon and tied multiple bows using the green and natural twine. I finished off the card with mini banners with the Christmas sentiment.

Treat Yourself

The Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger this week is a delicious treat.  I saw the picture and immediately knew I wanted to pull out my alcohol inks and see if I could capture the yummy colors in this treat.

I ended up with two cards using an  alcohol ink background:

The second card uses a smaller piece of the same background:

Now I bet you are wondering what was the inspiration photo was that was food related. :)

The background on the cards was a combination of Alcohol Inks - Butterscotch, Rust, and Caramel. How appropriate that two of the colors were ice cream toppings. :)

The sentiment is from Verses Rubber Stamps - Happy Happy Happy - BB0431-D.  I am happy happy happy that I just added two masculine birthday cards to my stash. Always need more of these. :)

Tuesday Trigger Thank You

I love the blue and white prints in the beautiful Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger. They inspired me to create a quick thank you card.

My middle DD is graduating tonight from Middle school and wanted a few thank you cards for her teachers. (Although she did not like the flower on this card and it was rejected. :)

The background is stamped with versamark and clear embossed. The blue was sponged onto the card starting with darker blue dye inks on one end  to almost white on the other end.  The sentiment and background stamp are Hero Arts.

Baby Buttons & Bows

The City Crafter Challenge this week is hosted by Linda and she has set the challenge to baby, buttons and bows! The Tuesday Trigger - A Citrus Celebration at the Moxie Fab World this week has the sweetest cupcake liners in lime green with polka dots. Combine those two things along with the mad hatter rabbit from Alice in Wonderland and this is what you get:

Recipe: 

1. Spray green and blue and yellow glimmer mists onto white cardstock. 
2. Stamp Artistic Outpost - Wonderland Collage using Ranger Archival Ink
3. Color image and background using watercolor pencils and blend with water brush. 
4. Spray Prima flowers with green glimmer mist. 
5. Stamp sentiment (Amuse) on same background. 
6. Die Cut Fleur De Lis Rectangles Spellbinders. Cut out center to create frame.

Moxie Fab - Trigger Tuesday and Spooky challenge

Cath over at Moxie Fab World offered up a spooky Trigger Tuesday and featured a spooktackular post challenging us to create a spooky card.  Both of these fit into my need to create Halloween cards for my kids.

Here is the inspiration photo for Tuesday's Trigger:

As soon as I saw that tombstone I thought of my cute graveyard stamp. (cute and graveyard?) Anyways I was inspired to create a window card with the graveyard stamp on the inside and out. But my favorite part is the flying bats and sentiment.

Usually when I make the Halloween or any holiday cards for the kids there is one card they all want. I am thinking this might be the one.  :) Anything interactive is something they always love.

Moxie Fab World - Tuesday Trigger - Lipsylicious

When I saw the Moxie Fab World - Tuesday Trigger from Cath this week Lipsylicious:

Which was this picture

Lip Glamour from Oprah.com.  I love the rich colors and the rows of lipsticks.   Now in parallel with that I have also just received a RAK from Savannah. Go check out her fun blog HERE.  Love what she creates as well as being a super sweet friend.  She sent me a wonderful Ippity set called A Little Buggy along with some other fun items. Thanks Sav!

Well the Buggy set along with those lipsticks got me to thinking... :)  Here is what it inspired:

I used the flower (I think?)  from the set and decided to do lollipops in the warm tones of the lipsticks. I stamped with a rusty orange, deep red and  plum edged with brown. I then cut out all my flower friends, glossed them up and added glitter! (Thanks Cath and Sav I will be wearing that glitter today all day! :)

Guess what song I have been singing all morning?  "We represent the Lollipop kids, the Lollipop kids, the Lollipop kids" from The Wizard of Oz.

I will be back tonight to share the next PDCC colors. (Which by the way, I was really close to using this weeks colors on this card and didn't even realize it until I was finished)

Immediately I was inspired by the colors and the textures and even the blocking.  So here is my take on the card.

I shared my card with my kids and asked them what they thought. There were general thumbs down across the board.  This included the 5-9 population, 10-13 population and the 13 to 15 population. LOL!  They did say it looked like the inspiration photo after I shared it with them.  The other issue they had, was it was too simple. (They know their mom's detail filled style) So I added the sparklies to represent the handles on the doors. :)

I will say that making the pieces was just a pleasure. I was embossing, creating faux metal, and distressing and using lots of fun colors! I even have some other pieces that didn't make it onto the card which inspired new ideas and techniques.

Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World - Mapping Color

Cath at Moxie Fab World provided a fun inspiration photo for the Tuesday Trigger.

Immediately I thought of using up some scraps and creating a very simple, clean card. (Not that I didn't struggle with all that white space!!!!)

Here's my take on the trigger. I envisioned it with just the strips of paper with some stamping but ended up adding the stars to add some depth. I am going to dig out my stamp that says You are a Star and use it on the inside.

Moxie Fab World - Tuesday Trigger

The Tuesday Trigger on the Moxie Fab world was selected by Maren B. Here is her inspiration picture from Pottery Barn.

Now you would think.... that if you had 3 porcelain plates purchased at a discount store with the intent of stamping on them..... that you would have had an Ah Ha moment when you saw the trigger....

Unfortunately some of us take a little longer. :) I love these plates I picked up and just this morning did I remember that they were sitting there and that they would look lovely with a similar idea.

The best part is I have had this poem from Verses which works perfectly with the image.

The hardest part about this project was finding something to put my cling stamps on that fit in the center of the plate. It only took me 5 failed attempts before I decided to look for a circle surface for my cling stamps. (glass jar top)

I stamped using my StaZon ink which takes nicely on the surface. If you make mistakes you can wipe it off using the StaZon cleaner. I don't have a sealant over my stamped image, so this will be a decoration only.

The verse in case you can't see it clearly is as follows:

Hope is the thing with feathers

that perches on the soul,

that sings a tune without words

and never stops at all.

Tuesday Trigger - Moxie Fab World

Wow! Two challenge entries in one day... Only because I am on vacation this week could I create two different projects within a day of the challenges. :)

The Tuesday Trigger Challenge on the Moxie Fab World was created by Kazan Clark and inspired by this picture from Coastal Living.

Here is my take on the trigger:

Love the inspiration piece that Kazan created and I probably might try another card which emulates the clean and simple lines. But this morning the inspiration hit to try to capture what inspired the room design.

The background stamp is the new Hero Arts Silhouette Grass. I stamped it in the Versafine Toffee stamp. (I am loving this color more and more) The grass is shaded with watercolor pencil to make it pop on the background. I sponged the background with the Adirondack pool color. The shells, birds and dragonflies are from a new Hero Arts Clear Design set Antique Engravings. The sand is sponged using a dauber and then I added texture and colors using a textured sponge.

The sentiment is from Cornish Heritage Farms Joys and Sorrows.

A whirlwind of fun...

I have a couple of exciting things to share:

First... Finished this card last night after playing with my spellbinders die cut and some fun Memory Box stamps.

I had seen a gorgeous and I mean stunning card on Yvonne's blog here: http://yvonne-anabelle.blogspot.com/2009/11/serendipity-november-challenge.html. I have this stamp too and am re-inspired to use it for my Christmas cards. (Will share if and when they are created).

I used the same Fleur De Lis die cut and cut 12 from a Memory Box card which I had stamped with a Memory box flourish stamp in Stonewashed dye ink.

The flowers are Memory Box - Black Eyed Susan E422 stamped in versafine black onyx and colored using watercolor pencils. I used the same colors on the butterflies (memory box - periwinkle B1181)

I sponged the outer circle to give it the orange-yellow effect to match the butterflies and flowers.

Second exciting news:

Tim Holtz started his 12 days of tags today... So much inspiration in techniques all jammed into 12 days. Also he has wonderful prizes so go check that out. I think I am going to try to play along as it fits in with the HA blog challenge this week and Louise's tag Tuesday challenge too!
