Shine Brightly

Hello!  I am back with a card featuring on of the new DarkRoom Door photo stamps that are just being released.

The lighthouse stamp was one of my favorites from the new release. I always love a beautiful lighthouse and the stories that go with them.  I created two different cards using this stamp.  The first card I used tissue tape on white cardstock to create a textured effect.  I stamped over it with black ink and then embossed with black embossing powder. 

I then sprayed the ends with black distress stain spray to create the dark frame around the tissue tape. It also added a little speckling over the edges which gave more light to the main image. 

After that I used watercolor pencil to add a hint of color to the image.  I was pleased it actually took the color and allowed me to smear it around a bit.  

For my second card a completely different take on the same stamp.

I stamped the image on white cardstock using black ink and then heat embossed it again. I created a mask of the stamped image so I could stencil the sun burst over the image.  The stamp comes with the lovely black frame around the image.  I inked up the image in the previous card  partially to avoid most of the frame.

Technique Remix

I have been playing with Tim's May 2016 Tag techniques.  I did a little remix of his techniques and blended a few for my tag.

 I started with covering white cardstock with tissue tape. I then cut a heart shaped piece of my tissue tape out.  I used the texture die to cut the flourishes into my heart shape. I attached that to another heart shape cut from white cardstock.  I then stamped across the background with test.  I added various pieces of tissue tape.

Here is my tag before my embellishments.

I added a layer of embossing paste with the flourish stencil over the tissue tape and stamped background.   After the embossing paste dried I sprayed with a mix of distress stain sprays (Pumice Stone, Antique Brass) and Heidi Swap Color shine (Cherry) to get the soft colors.

Chapel Road Artstamps Blog Challenge - Masculine Altered Project

The challenge this time at Class Act is to create a masculine altered project.   I went digging through my pile of alterable items and found a paper mache box. 

I tried to create the feel of a chest that has been sent around the world.  I asked my DH what he thought and he said "Oh that is nice, you could use it for a jewelry box." LOL!  So much for what I think is masculine. :)

The base was painted with acyrlic paint (white). I let that dry and then pulled the orange dye ink across the surface which looked like grain in the wood. After that it was a mix of stamping and tissue tape.
The straps are made from leather strips and the buckles are from Zutter. I added a row of brass accents along the sides to add a little touch.

The stamp sets used for the project include: Wonderful World, Find Your Way, and Scribe.

On the way to the Market

I stopped here... and here... before finally arriving. :)

Do you ever find you start with something and it takes you a few tries to get there?  Well... I had this Santa image stamped and colored on my desk.  I saw the wonderful sketch #66 from Kazan from 2S4Y and decided to combine the two. Here is the output of this little crafting session...

Before that version was this version which was sitting on my desk since last night and this morning I took a long look at it and thought the proportions were wrong. So I re-sized it and cleaned it up. (Off popped Santa and the gems to re-use on the new card.)

And in between those cards was my original stamped Santa and his card.  

The good news is that I ended up with two Christmas cards to send out! :)
