I have a few cards created for anniversaries....

My first card was for my hubby on our anniversary:

I wanted something masculine and had picked up some veneer at the flea market with him. 

I die cut a few hearts from the veneer. Stained it ink with a touch of pink paint.  I stamped the words from the Simon Says Stamp Exclusive set using Ranger Archival Ink.

My second card is for my in-laws anniversary:

I cut the opening and stamped behind it with the damask.

Trick or Treat Tag?

How about a little stamping an stenciling this week?  Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge.   is playing with stencils and /or stamps to create something. I had a cool background left over from some playing I did with stencils and paints.

One of my favorite things is to use up my excess inks, paints or sprays on the craft mats onto leftover cardstock  This background was a combination of leftover ink on a stencil. 

After I used the stencil with the spray I flipped it over and placed it onto a leftover remnant of cardstock. I then kept placing it onto the same piece of cardstock. 

I added a little dripping of yellow spray mist.  I then let it dry and used the same stencil to add white embossing paste for texture.  After all that I added a hint of paint around the edges.

I used the dauber to add a touch of paint around the edges.  While it was still wet I spritzed it with water to allow the paint to soften.

to add he images I used a combination of stamping the images directly onto the background and where the texture was to bumpy I stamped onto tissue paper and used decoupage to apply it to the tag which gives it a transparent effect to allow the texture and color bleed through.

Be Yourself

I am in love with this stamp.  I think she looks so prim and yet she has her fun party hat and wings. I decided to play along with the Vintage Journey and colors of Autumn.  This tag uses the autumnal colors and is inspired by Tim's tag

I was playing around and ended up here.

I added a layer of wendy vecchi embossing paste with a stencil. After it dried I stamped script over the embossing paste.

I stamped the image several times to get the stamped background and cut they pieces out to give a layered effect.  

She was placed over tissue tape.  I added a touch of filmstrip with a few labels.

Glittery Shimmery Birthday Celebrations

Hello Monday!  I have had a busy week and sorry for the no show on my blog.  I do have something really fun to share and a technique because this week we are rocking the techniques at Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge.   

How about some bling and I mean really shimmery really messy and really glittery?

Don't look directly into the Luxe it will make it hard to see... :) 

I have to tell you I am in love with the new Stampendous Luxe mixes.  I spent quite some time playing around with the luxe on  a few different cards.

I started on these cards from backgrounds that were splotches of Dylusion sprays with a touch of painted on dots and circles. 

So my technique this week to share is a glittery cascade of bling!

I took some really good glue (Zip Dry)  and smeared it along the top  of my cardstock. I also dragged it downwards to create drips.

Then I pulled out that magical luxe and poured it over the surface. (Make sure to have something to catch all the extra goodies behind it so you can dump it back into the container.)

After that you press it onto the glue with your fingers and shake off the excess. I didn't like how my drips looked so I rubbed them off and just left the top half full of glue.  If you miss any spots or want more of the mica you can always add dots of glue over the glitter and add more mica flakes.

I loved how this one turned out although my girls like the other ones with the color better.

STAMPTEMBER

Happy Monday!  Today is a special day because all this month Simon Says Stamp is celebrating Stamptember!  That means that there are special guests, tutorials, and new Simon Exclusive Releases!  The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge design Team is hopping today sharing all kinds of cool projects!  The challenge this week is to use a Simon Exclusive product on your project!

For my project I decided to share a technique called Joseph's Coat of many colors.

I wanted to do something fun that I hadn't played with in a while.  I am going to walk you through the steps and then I will show you a few different projects and pieces I created in my crafty session.

First up you get to create inky backgrounds. you can choose to use what every you want to ink it up. I used a mix of mists and color sprays to create my backgrounds.

The great part is you can keep your leftover inks mopped up on white cardstock and save for a rainy day where you can try this out. The backgrounds need to be completely dry before you move onto the next step.

The next step is to pick your stamp that you want to use.  This works better with solid images. I started with a line stamp but you can decide when you see the different results.

Start by stamping your image using Versamark Watermark Ink and then coat with clear embossing powder and heat it up and create your resist.

Next up the magic starts to happen.  You pull out a black dye ink and an applicator to sponge on the black dye ink. I also sometimes will directly apply the ink pad onto the paper to get a complete coverage.

You can start to see the resist peeking through.

I continued to cover the entire image and all around it with the black ink highlighting the resist areas.

To clean it up at the end you need to buff off the excess ink with a paper towel, kleenex or clean applicator.

 Here is the finished piece before I trimmed it out.

 My second background used a lighter mix of colors and a solid stamp. (A lovely Simon Exclusives set)

 This is the finished panel after I added some splatters of white over the surface. I distressed the edges.

 I wanted to show a few other samples using a background stamp:

 You can also choose to just ink up the background with a darker color and not use black.

All About Love

Howdy!  I am back to share a quick misted card.  I was looking for a sentiment for another project and noticed the layout of the stamps on the clear set and thought what a pretty graphic. (Simon Says Stamp - All About Love)

 I just inked them up on the packaging and stamped it on white cardstock.  I added spritzes of different colors. (Heidi Swapp Color Shine)

I then decided to cut out one of the hearts and pop dotted up and then added a layer of white paint sprayed over the surface.  I finished off with a few gems.

Such a quick card and I will put away for Valentines Day or a wedding shower.  I like my wedding cards to be a little more elegant. :)

Tim's Tag September 2014

Tim's Tag September 2014 is my inspiration today.  He has some fun techniques he is sharing which had me playing around with my alcohol inks.

Here was my first tag which used tim's technique but I came back over with the stencil and a purple alcohol ink over the front.

The image was stamped first and then the rub-ons were applied.  I punched out a series of butterflies.

My second used a stencils with the stripes: 

 I liked the effect of the wood grain and ended up creating a more masculine tag although I had the butterflies ready to go so they ended up on my tag. :)
