I'm Seeing Silver Stars

I promised last week to share my second pocket tag inspired by Linda's tags.  I held this tag after I realized yesterday's tag had silver stars on a blue tag too!

When you open up the inside you see there is a little pocket for my tag:

This was given to one of my daughter's friends for her birthday so I added the sentiment of wish big.

The front is fairly plain with just the silver trim and a smattering of stars.

The background is a mix of leftover spritzes on my craft mat.  I always like to soak them up onto cardstock to be used on future projects.   I added a metal foil trim which was embossed with chevron.  I embossed my brads with silver embossing powder to match.  The twine was painted with Ranger Distress Paint - Silver to coordinate.  The stars are from a Heidi Swapp stencil and Wendy Vechhi Silver Embossing Paste.

Linda has one more pocket tag on her blog made of silvery colors and I can't wait to have a play with it.  So you will be seeing one more folded tag this week. :) Have a wonderful New Years Eve!

New Year's Resolutions

We are sharing glittery ideas this week at the  Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge  to celebrate the New Years!  I took that idea and created a New Years Resolution inspired tag shimmery with metallic stars.
The background is a glimmer misted background with touches of Dylusions white spray spritzed across the surface. After that had dried, I stamped the inspirational quote using blue ink.  I stamped clocks across the background in a soft shade of gray.

I die cut stars using a combination of dies and Ranger Foil Sheets.  I then embossed them with an embossing folder.  I randomly attached them across the surface along with clear gems.

I sprayed crinoline with the same glimmer mist and accented with gems.  I tied the crinoline on with twine and stars.

Thank You Pocket Tag

Hello! I have been busy playing every day but forgetting to post my projects.  Linda's tag challenge has been extended with two bonus tags.  I was playing around with her bonus tag #1.  The challenge is sponsored by her boutique The Funkie Junkie Boutique
I loved how Linda folded her tag and framed it with the metal trim.  I spent quite a bit of time reproducing that effect. I actually ended up with two takes on this but will be sharing the other later this week.

I used the metal strips, white cardstock, an embossing folder, Stampendous gold glitter, Petaloo flowers, Hero Arts sentiment, Ranger Distress Stain, Ranger Distress Paint, and Memory Box deer.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wintry Decorations

The  Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is taking a holiday break from challenges but the Design Team is sharing wintry ideas to inspire your creativity.

I took a close up of the decoration so you could see the sweet wintery butterfly hiding in the branches.

I had a fun time with my two sisters creating this hanging for the front door.  My sister went out into her yard and gathered a variety of branches, pine cones, berries and dried flowers.  I decided to paint all of the pieces with white acrylic paint.  After they dried I was able to add silvery glitter onto the branches.

I sprayed tulle with silver gray glimmer mist to create a bow at the top of the decoration.  I covered my pine cones with craft glue and put them in a Ziploc bag full of silver glitter and shook them up to coat them.

I decided to create my wintry butterfly by die cutting a butterfly from metallic cardstock and painting it with glue and covering it with silver glitter.

Holy Family

Merry Christmas!

I created this card inspired by Linda's The Funkie Junkie tags week #11 tag sponsored by her store The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Linda's tag is stunning with it's pop of white against the beautiful greens and blues.  I wanted to achieve the same effect and thought wouldn't it be lovely to give that white halo around the Holy Family on their travels after the babe was born.

More Christmas Cheer

I have been so busy creating that I have a little stockpile of Christmas projects to share before Christmas arrives.  This one was another card popped into the mail earlier this week and should arrive in time for the holidays.

Another one of my Gelli Plate backgrounds.  You can see I was using the blues and tans still on the plate.  I used Paper Artsy Fresco Finishes (Irish Cream, Mermaid) with the Tim Holtz Stencil.

I sponged brown dye ink over the ruler stencil in both corners to add more movement. :)  I then stamped the Penny Black stamp in the top right corner.  I colored this with STAEDTLER Karat Aquarell watercolor pencils.  To help the birds pop more I did two things.  I heat embossed them with brown embossing powder while the ink was wet.  I also then shaded around the image with the brown watercolor pencils.  I take it back I did three things I also added white highlights in the darker areas.

After that was done I added a the sentiment on a coordinating background paper and a little touch of the holly and some burlap and ribbon.

Now off to the store to pick up groceries!

Happy Saturday!

Christmas Time

Christmas is rapidly approaching.  I am almost all set... Just a few more visits to the grocery store for Christmas Dinner goodies..  I had a few more Christmas cards for my crafty buddies that had to be made.  I made this for a good friend.  She always uses these sweet children from the Artistic Outpost Think and Wonder plate.

I have been busy creating background using the Gelli Plate again.  This background was a mix of tan and blue paint and a beautiful flourish stencil.

I followed those colors into my ribbons, and images.  The sentiment was stamped with a teal blue and heat embossed with brown embossing powder.  The sentiment is from the Artistic Outpost - Snowy Woods.

I hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Golden Christmas

I am catching up to Linda and her Holiday Tag challenge.  She is on Tag #12 and it is a beauty! Her challenge is sponsored by her store The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Usually with the tags I am inspired and end up playing around and trying new things. This time I actually went back and re-read her instructions because I loved the effect she had on her tag with the gold touches.  I actually made around 5 tag attempts with this and this was the closest I got to hers.

My first few attempts I ended up with the tag being completely gold.
I used the following products:  Wendy Vecchi Gold Embossing Paste, Ranger Queens Gold Embossing Powder, Ranger Distress Stains - Tarnished Gold, Versamark Watermark Ink Pad, Ranger Archival Ink - Coffee, Hero Arts stamps, Penny Black - Joy Sentiment, Dylusions - White Spray, Tim Holtz Stencil

Have a wonderful day!

Angels

I thought since I shared my other ATC's for the challenge I should share my shabby chic ATC's.  The second swap I signed up to participate in was a Shabby Chic Christmas inspired challenge.

This swap used digital images instead of stamping.  The only stamping on these is the backgrounds or the sentiments.  I found my angels on Pinterest and printed them out to use on my ATCS.

The sentiment is from  Stampendous.

I embossed white cardstock and sponged it with pink dye ink to frame a few of the ATCs. The shape is die cut from a Memory Box Arch die.

My next one used the same resist from yesterday's post but sponged over the background in pink.

The sentiment is one of my favorites and is from Memory Box.  The snowflake is Dazzling Snowflake from Hero Arts.  The glitter is Stampendous.

This last little girl was the first ATC created but I wanted to go softer and more pastels so the remainder were done in pinks and blues. :)

Hope you are having a lovely Advent.  I am getting ready for my long vacation for the holidays and so thrilled to be off from work for a few weeks.

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Cheer

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week is the final challenge in 2013. The challenge this week is an easy one, all you have to do is use a stamp!

This worked out with perfect timing for me, as I am part of an ATC trading group and one of the challenges was a rubber stamped Christmas.

I decided to play with a resist technique on the backgrounds of a few of my atcs.  I stamped the beautiful snowflake with versamark and embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I spritzed over the embossed background with a shimmery silver glimmer mist.  After it was dry I used an iron and placed the embossed background between two pieces of white scrap cardstock. I heated up an iron and then ironed off the embossing powder.

That allows you to then stamp and put ink on the embossed area.  I stamped the little scene using black ink. I highlighted it with the Signo Uni-Ball white gel pen.
For this ATC I used the same resist on the background and then stamped over the surface using gray ink and a music stamp.  I then stamped the bunnies on white cardstock using black ink.  I then added a hing of gray to the bunnies using the same mist.  I then added a touch of fluff using white fun flock.  I stickled the star and tied a little twine on the bunny.

I stamped the fun santa on white cardstock.  I added a touch of script around him in the background. The washi tape made a fun border.

Ballerina Christmas

You will never guess what I am posting today... Ahem... Another tag... I am all caught up with the tags from Linda's The Funkie Junkie Christmas Tags Challenge.  I am saving one of my projects for her tags for Christmas day as it is perfect for that day.  This is  my tag inspired by Linda's  Week #9. Her challenge is sponsored by her store The Funkie Junkie Boutique and I know she has great prices on her products in the store.

Linda's tag has these beautiful shades of blue and soft snowflakes in the background.   It inspired me to create a snowy background tag.   Of course than I had to improvise a little. :)

The background of the tag is a mix of stamped Artistic Outpost snowflakes in versamark which were than heat embossed to create a resist.

I then dragged gray ad blue dye inks down the surface to give the effect of wood grain.  I wiped off the excess with a tissue to make my snowflakes pop.

I finished with a few spritz of the Dylusions white spray.  I stamped the Artistic Outpost music across the surface in gray ink.

I then looked around for bits to decorate my tag.  I found this beautiful glittery snowflake and decided to stamp the ballerina form the Artistic Outpost Picture Star and make her the focal point of my tag.   I love this image as it reminds me of photos of me and my sister in our first ballet class. (I think the only ballet class for me. :)

I created her outfit from tulle and tinsel.  I added some shimmery flowers and tinsel.  The feathers were added because it needed a little something behind the star.

The Joyeux Noel had to be applied because the first time I stamped it was crooked!!! After of course everything else was complete. :(

I have to say this is one of my favorite tags in a while. I might have to make an ornament just like the feather and snowflake with the little ballerina.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Tags and more Tags

All week the Stampendous Design Team and the Clearsnap team are hopping and sharing inspiration. Today is the grand finale on the hop.  I have been busy making tags and ended up with another tag to share for today's hop.

I received a beautiful ink pad from Clearsnap - 5 Color Ink Pad with several colors of ink on the inkpad.  I used it to create the stripes on the background.

I then stamped the Stampendous Cling Winter Birds using the brown ink onto the tag and white cardstock.  I heat embossed them with brown embossing powder.  I colored the birds using the STAEDTLER Karat Aquarell Watercolor Pencils and a waterbrush.  I cut the birds out and pop dotted them onto the branches on the tag.

I stamped the background with the Chox brown ink and the Stampendous background stamp.

For all the fabulous inspiration hop along:

Happy Christmas

Hello!  I am back with another a tag inspired by the beautiful tag from Linda at The Funkie Junkie Christmas Tags Challenge Week #10. Her challenge is sponsored by her store The Funkie Junkie Boutique

I followed the design of Linda's tag.  I switched out the background using the pine branch from the Artistic Outpost Snowy Woods plate.  I inked it up with the Ranger Distress Ink - Forest Moss spritzed with Perfect Pearls Mister.

I took the beautiful wood frame and embossed it with Stampendous Aged Silver Embossing Enamel to give a silvery finish.

I misted ribbon with Bronzer mist to give a dark bronze color to the ribbon.  I died the other ribbon with the Ranger Distress Ink - Forest Moss.

I painted the center of the frame with silver paint mixed with white paint.  I then stamped the sentiment from the Snowy Woods plate using black ink.

I stamped the bird from the Birds of a Feather plate using black ink and painted with the same dye ink.
I added a touch of moss under the bird which was misted with the same bronze mist.

Here is the full tag:

There is still time to play along in Linda's tags challenge. She has extended the timeline.  I have a few tags to catch up with so there will be more tags showing up on my blog. :)

Have a lovely day!

Christmas Gifts

I have been shopping and wrapping this weekend. That fits right into my project this week for the
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge  to use tissue paper.   I love using tissue paper on my projects. Tissue paper is a great way to apply a stamped image on a variety of surfaces.  I always save the tissue paper from gifts to use for my projects.

I decided to use a pencil case to create a box that can be used to store pens/pencils and a great gift box for a teacher's gift.

Here is an angled shot showing  how the box opens up:

I started with the chipboard pencil case which I covered in white and yellow paint. I then added a touch of tissue tap around the edged of the box.

To cover the top I stamped the image on tissue paper with black water resistant ink.
I colored the image with watercolor pencils and waterbrush.  I partially colored this image to show you how the images look colored on the tissue paper.
I then painted the backside of the tissue paper to make the colors pop.  If I wanted them to be translucent and pick up the color behind the image I would have left off the paint.

I then applied them to the box with a decoupage medium on the box and over the tissue paper after I applied it to the box.

After the image dried I added a touch of white paint around the edges.  I then stamped the numbers around the edges using black ink. I am using this to wrap up a gift card.

Products:
Paper Artsy Fresco Finish - Haystack, Snowflake, Crackle Glaze Indigo Blue - Dancing Children, Decoupage, Stampers Anonymous - Stuff to Say, TIm Holtz - Idea-ology Tissue Tape, Ranger Archival Ink - Black, Signo Uni-Ball White Gel Pen, Seam Binding Ribbon, Glimmer Mist - Blue, Pink, Waterbrush,

Poinsettia Tag

Time for Tim's December tag... He whipped up a pretty poinsettia using the frosted film.  I have had some frosted film for awhile and hadn't had a chance to play with it.

I used the inspiration from Tim to create my tag:

I started with white cardstock which I cut into a tag shape.  I then applied Ranger Distress Stain - Gold over the Tim Holtz Stencil randomly to give a textured background.  I added a few spritzes of bronze mist. I also stamped script in the background using Ranger Distress Ink - Walnut Stain.

After everything was dry I stamped the Postcard stamp using the Ranger Archival Ink -Coffee and heat embossed with brown embossing powder. I also did the same with the Penny black sentiment.

I created my leaves using Acetate and frosted film. I applied alcohol ink over the frosted surface to get the green color.  I stamped script using StazOn Ink after I applied the alcohol ink.  I heated them up to get the shape.

The Poinsettia is tissue paper misted with Dylusionals with frosted film applied to it after it was dried. I then embossed the leaves with an embossing folder.  I applied a touch of white paint and Ranger Distress Paints - Gold to the edges.  I die cut them from the Sizzix Susan Kremertz Poinsettia.

Have a wonderful day!

Flourish

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week is to show off with a flourish.  From stamps to stencils, filigree to embossed, or a fancy swirl any flourish will do.

I decided to play with my Gelli Plate, inks and a beautiful flourish embossing folder and create a card.

To create my background:

I painted the Gelli Plate with a mix of brown and a plummy paint.  I pressed an embossing folder into the paint and pulled some of the paint off the plate. I then placed the cardstock on the gelli plate and got a lovely soft effect.

I then spritzed the remainder of the paint with water and pulled a second print.

After that I picked one of the backgrounds to cut as my background on my card. I then stamped the image using brown ink and heat embossed using brown embossing powder.

I painted a few flowers to match my background for accents.  I then mixed in some flowers, paper buttons, and heart accents into the background.

Products: PaperArtsy - Pansy Fresco Finish, PaperArtsy - French Roast Fresco Finish, Stampers Anonymous - The Girls, Acanthus Embossing Folder, Bella Blvd White Feathers, Prima Flowers, Prima Parfait Flowers, Brown Embossing Powder, Ranger Archival Ink - Coffee, Prima Distressing Tool, Gelli Plate, Memento Sweet Plum, Ranger Distress Paints - Gold, Ranger Distress Ink - Vintage Photo, Melissa Frances Lace Trim, TwineMelissa Frances Chipboard Paper Buttons
