Happy New Years Eve!

Happy New Year's Eve!

Time to reflect on the year.  I appreciate all my followers and the people who leave me comments. I realize it takes time out from your creating when you stop by!  I know coming to my blog can be a bit of a surprise every time as I like to mix up my genres and types of projects.  I picked projects from over the year that I enjoyed either from learning something new, personal reflection or just fun!

Last year in January me and my fellow Hero Arts Hosti had a blog hop.  These ladies are all the best and so sweet and kind and talented!  I am proud to be part of this group of wonderful artists.  I created this card for the hop and loved the various layers and texture.

My next project is one where I tried something new with embossing paste and embossing folders.

It also gave me a chance to journal a bit about changes happening in our lives with our kids getting ready to leave the nest.

I was lucky enough to join in on an resin challenge to create with the clock and I don't play with resin that often and really enjoyed how this turned out!

My next project was another new adventure for me..
I created a little cherub using putty and the embossing powder.  I loved the way you could replicate an old button or figurine!

This tag is one of  my many times playing with Acetate and Paint this year... There is a tag on Pinterest that I love that is acetate and uses paint spectacularly and I think that is why I keep trying!

The next is one of my many grungy projects for this year. I just love that dragonfly and I finally made a pinecone rose!

I also dabbled this year in a few layouts and I love this one of my dad with my youngest:
The yellow seems so non-traditional for the cold weather months but works because of my dads sweatshirt.

While we are on the subject of yellow another yellow misty project featuring one of my favorite subjects:  the bird...
All yellow and golden mixed media wall hanging..

The next two projects was a collaboration with Stampendous and DreamWeavers.  I struggled at first but when I pulled out some canvas it all seemed to fall together.

This card had me thinking of how could I frost my flowers with embossing paste...

The embossing paste took the color and glitter so beautifully and the Penny Black stencil was the perfect fist with this project.

I spent a good part of my year coloring these sweet House Mouse Designs for Stampendous.

I have to say they are the cutest images and a lot of fun to color and design for.  Something very different for me but I really enjoyed it.  The buttons are made from a original button that I used that putty to create a mold and then poured liquid gold embossing enamel from Stampendout to create.

My sea witch was a mix of die cut flowers and paints, mists and the hidden image of the witch in the grotto under the sea.

I made lots of tiny tags this year as they are so quick and fun to assemble a mix of images in a small space.  All stamping and sponging!

My daughter's birthday card which I loved but she would have liked something a little more appropriate for a teenager. :)

I was blessed to be on the DarkRoom Door team this year and love their stamps.  I had fun creating projects with all the fabulous new releases and this is one of my favorites:
I don't even remember how this came about but I think it involved a bunch of scraps that I had laying on my desk top and the masculine card that became from that was one of my favorites.
I made a series of cards from this Hero Arts stamp which was easy to do as it is so beautiful. The watercolor stamps are in my favorites always and some of the first stamps I started inking up.

This fall inspired canvas started with a pile of die cut leaves and grew into a canvas.

The Simon Says Challenge was to create an ornament and these vintage skates had been calling my name for awhile and I couldn't wait to create an ornament.

Another layout featuring an old photo of my youngest with a few words form our favorite book.

And tags, tags and more tags... Sorry about that but when time was short creating tags was my way of being to express myself and play along in some fun challenges.

Hope you enjoyed my long review of the year!  I wish you and your loved ones the happiest, healthiest, and  blessed new year!

Fleeb

Hi there!  I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.  We had a lovely time and are still all home and enjoying family time.  Unfortunately my BIL and his girlfriend lost her longtime cat over the holiday.

I wanted to do something for them and happened to have a photo of their cat which I used to scrap a page for her.

I still would like to add the years in white below his name and am waiting for my BIL to let me know when he was born.

I searched on pinterest for a few ideas of what I wanted to do with the photo and was quite pleased with the end result, and I think she will like to have this memento  as well. My DH is going to get a frame.

Thanks for dropping by.

TIme of Wonder

Day 23!  I went a little different path today with a yellow and coral misted background.
I love the pretty blend of colors and decided that the white rub-ons along with white embossing powder would bring another layer of light to the soft pretty pastels.

The stamp is Hero Arts and the rub-ons Idea-ology - Holiday Remnants, The mists are Heidi Swapp Color Shine.

Happy eve of Christmas Eve!

Christmas PostCards

Another oldy but goody for Day 22!  I love this Stampendous collage stamp with the bird.

All I had to do was stamp it and add some color.  I trimmed it out with some Ric-Rac and a rusty old heart.

I colored it again with my favorite STAEDTLER Karat Aquarell watercolor pencils.   Maybe that will be my New Years Resolution to rotate through my coloring choices (watercolor pencils, distress inks, copics... :)

Christmas is coming!  Everyone is home and we are enjoying some time together between everyone running off with their friends!

Christmas Finery

Day 21!  It is flying by quickly... I love the displays where they create a tree all full of peacock feathers and the colors associated with a peacock.  They are so beautiful together.

When I was searching my stamps for birds I remembered this gorgeous Peacock from Stampendous and decided to layer him over some beautiful Christmas pattern Paper.  I added the Idea-ology remnant of the Merry on top but the Christmas was trailing off the paper already.

I colored this with STAEDTLER watercolor pencils with just a touch of white gel pen highlights!

Wishing you a blessed Sunday!

Joy to You!

Day 20 and I went into golden overload on this tag!
I had the gold out from another project and decided to use a golden background and add a doily and add gold to that and kept going.

The stamp is from Impression Obsession and he is a chickadee I believe. He is also supposed to be holding a candy cane. I always stamp him and trim away the candy cane.

Happy Day 20!   I have mounds of wrapping to do but my shopping is complete!

Dreaming of a White Christmas

Happy Day 19th!  These are my favorite types of inky projects... Soft inky background a tree and some birds...

This is going to sound crazy but I actually am dreaming of a white Christmas.  We have a cold spell happening right now and I wouldn't mind some nice fluffy snowflakes before Christmas. (Not too much of course!)

I am getting nearly ready for the holiday and just a little bit more preparations!

Have a beautiful Thursday!

Final Funkie Junkie Twelve Tags of Christmas

Today is my last project inspired by Linda's Funkie Junkie inspired wonderful #12 tag from her annual twelve tags of Christmas. The challenge is being sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique

Here is how my tangential thinking works and how my project is inspired by Linda's beautiful window scene.

My first thought was Ohh... Look at the wood grain... than it was what a beautiful window scape and what windows do I have.  Then back to Ohh... Wood grain...

So I started my woodgrain background which turned into a bunch of backgrounds that I adored.   Then I thought about the layering of the window and the scene behind it and thought I have a set of dies with hearts and overlapping frames for the hearts from memory box.  So Linda's see through window inspired the layering.
Of course I didn't end up using the layering or the see through I originally thought I was going to instead snowflakes became my layering and it turned into a card instead of a tag. Thanks Linda for all the inspiration!  I had fun playing along with you every week!

I lost my day 18 tag that I wanted to share for my 25 birds of Christmas but I had a tag from my mini journal that I forgot to share which I loved so here it is as a step in for my Day 18 tag.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Season's Greeting

Day 17!

I loved this beautiful paper (from Authentique I believe) that I created a second tag with different hints of color in the flowers.

I added a bird nestled in the flowers with a touch of music.

Happy Wednesday!

Beauty of the Season

Another one of my favorites today from my 25 birds of Christmas.  A little more shabby chic and a touch of homespun charm with the gingham ribbon.
The birds are Stampendous.  I colored them with Staedtler watercolor pencils and cut them out to pop them up.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!  I am getting so close to my vacation!  I can't wait for long days full of family time, inking and maybe catching up on some projects around the house that don't get that much attention! :)

Parisian Holiday

Day 15!  I am not ready that is for sure!  I have been out buying gifts, decorating and doing lots of holiday activities but our first family get together is on Sunday and I am not fully prepared.  I will need to get in some serious gift wrapping this week.

This tag was inspired by the tissue tape from Cavallini  & Co. which had lovely French images and birds. I mixed it in with some stamping and a few embellishments.

A Parisian Holiday!

Snowy Snowy Trees

The Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is anything goes! Perfect for any of your last minute tags, cards, gift wrapping embellishments..

I was inspired to create a Christmas card with a lovely nighttime color and decided to layer in a series of trees and then finish it off with vellum overlay.

I used a brayer to apply the layers of color from darkest to light.

I die cut the birches and stamped wood grain over the trees and sponged the edges.  I had to cut a bit more of the ground to make it the width of the background.

I applied a little versamark along the bottom and sprinkled on a mix of snow like embossing powder and heated it up and added a few extra white pieces across the surface and heated it from underneath so it wouldn't blow away.

I then stamped the sentiment and deer and embossed them with brown embossing powder.

Products: Memory Box - Birch Die, Stampendous Spoonful of Snow Embossing Powder, DarkRoom Door Wood Grain, Simon Says Exclusive Stamps - Holiday Greetings, Brown Embossing powder, Ranger Distress Ink - Vintage Photo, Versamark Watermark Ink, Ranger Distress Ink - Mustard Seed, Memento - Paris Dusk, Lilac Posies, Rose Bud, Vellum, Brayer

Come join in all the fun and play along for a chance to win a $50 gift voucher at Simon Says Stamp.

Peace On Earth

I love how this turned out.  The teal and silver together and the touch of softness.

I stamped the background using the new Darkroom Door Eclectic stamps - Snowflakes and splattered a hint of silver on the background.  The frame was embossed in silver.  I  cut the bird and inked him up in blue.

Products: Darkroom Door - Eclectic snowflakes, Memory Box Bird Die, Idea-ology Holiday Remnants, Sizzix Die, Ranger Archival Ink

Joy, Hope & Wonder

A slow start.. today... I have all my tags done but finding them in all my photos is another thing...

The colors didnt' photograph today the way I had hoped but I had a lovely minty green along with coral to give a pretty alternative mix of reds & greens.

I stamped the background with a background stamp of stars stamped in the light green. I colored the stars in with coral/pink and outlined them with white.
I stamped the bird on the branch (Stampers Anonymous - Visual Artistry)  I stamped the bird again and popped him up.

I added the sentiment (Penny Black)  one of my Christmas favorites.  That's it for today. Tomorrows is beautiful if I say so myself. :)

On Ice

These little penguins are out in their Christmas finery.  I provided a crown on Mr. Penguin with half of a snowflake and Mrs. has a glittery gem necklace.

There is a tulle tuft on top but it is hard to see in the photo. The background is stamped with Ranger Archival Ink - Rose Madder using Memory Box - Vintage Christmas Words.  The images are from Penny Black - Nature Walk.

Yeah Friday again and the weekend!
