She describes the challenge as:
"A haberdasher is a person who sells small articles for sewing, such as buttons, ribbons and zippers. For this challenge create a vintage or shabby chic project including items found at a Haberdashery."
I was inspired the thought of buttons and threads. I was thinking about Halloween and the finery a witch would be wearing for the holiday.
All it took was a little snip snip and I had some wonderful witch boots. I stamped over them with a text stamp and then sponged them with a nice coat of black soot distress oxide. I laced them up with some string (died to coordinate) and tied them off with some fun buttons. I then decided they needed a shiny coat on the tips and the heels. I masked them off and sponged versamark. (I did this after the dye ink had set for awhile. If you can't wait you have to heat set the dye ink before doing this or your black embossing powder can stick elsewhere. :)
The hat was something I drew up after looking online for some inspiration. I wanted it to look a little bit like the sorting hat in Harry Potter.
I stamped the background with a different stamp from the Etcetera stamps. The backrgound is a mix of orange and black inked Halloween stamp.

The witch that gets this outfit is going to be very fancy indeed with all the wonderful embellishments. Love how you used the skates to make her boots - super clever.
ReplyDeleteClever and so well done!I could use some "witchy" boots like that! Lol!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a witch who will be stepping out in style! I love the way you repurposed the skates die! So clever and such fine boots! The hat is amazing and creepy and wonderful with all those spiders clustered up on the hat band. So whimsical and fun and like everything you do, beautifully made.
