Happy Wednesday! The new Funkie Junkie Boutique Challenge is all about the Valentine! The challenge is called Funkie Frilly Valentine! Janna is hosting and she has asked us to create a frilly or funkie valentine.
I was inspired by paper bag hearts! I had a lunch bag sitting on my desk to be recycled and decided to hand draw some hearts and cut them out.
After I had those paper bag hearts I just started playing with mediums and ended up here:
I started by taking the paper hearts and spraying them with a mix of pink distress stain spray and antique linen. After that dried I splattered with some white paint mixed with some water to thin the paint. I let that dry and embossed the entire heart with clear embossing powder. It gave the paper bag a beautiful translucent effect.
After that I pulled out the beautiful gold leaf metallic effect from Prima Marketing. This was embossed into the hearts to add a beautiful gold effect.
I paired up the various hearts and created backgrounds using layering stencils and distress inks.
I hope this has you inspired to share with us your Funkie or Frilly Valentines! Come join us in the challenge! The overall winner will be offered the chance to be a Guest Designer at a future date at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the drawing for the chance to win a $25.00 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. There are also Top 3 Badges for three additional outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team.
Thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteSuzz, your inspiration makes never ever fail to WOW me!! I may not comment much(whether or not my Google behaves) but you can be sure I always check in to see how you’ve put your projects together!
This one is more my “box” with the neutral tones I love so much!! Those tans & browns have a start way back in my life as horses- majestic, commanding, & beautiful. The circles are a truly Valentine touch, reminding us of Love being a never-ending circle.
Such a WONDERFUL work of inspiration using a plain old paper bag; beauty from ashes!! ❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful creation! Love the idea of upcycling paper bags to make a project. The gold splatters add a lovely touch of elegance.
