Life is What Happens

I love playing with embossing paste and the challenge this week at  Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge   
gave me a chance to try out something different this week.

My first project turned into a canvas inspired by the fact that we have one child off at school, the next one looking at colleges and the youngest turning into a teenager this year.  We are getting closer to that empty nest so I used that to create a canvas reflecting that.

This canvas started with embossing paste and an embossing folder with some tissue paper.   I used beeswax to attach the nest made up of lace, gauze and twine.  I also coated my bird with a layer of lace and bees wax.   Here is a close up of the background before I layered the images onto the canvas.

My second project I turned into a card:

Here are the step by step on what I did:

I painted a piece of cardboard from the back of a pad of paper with white paint.

I took white embossing paste and smeared it onto the background in an uneven pattern. 

I misted tissue paper with two shades of colors.

I placed the tissue paper on the wet embossing paste.

I then placed the embossing folder over the tissue paper on the embossing paste and brayered the surface of the embossing folder.

I repeated the process on the other side.

After I finished I let the embossing paste dry completely.  I then trimmed off the excess tissue paper. 

I then smeared white acrylic paint across the raised surface to pop the texture.

I used this same process on both the canvas and the card with different colors. You can see the Dylusion's spray picks up the white paint and tints it.
