Shades of Brown

When I saw the Simon Says Stamp and Show a Bit of Brown I was inspired to create a card using shades of Brown.  I combined the Paper Players 100th challenge (Use a previous Challenge-I chose Summer) and the Fashionable Stamping Challenge -Nature.

 My favorite type of card... My flowers, butterflies, distress inks, resist and sponging all bundled into one card. 

I stamped the Hero Arts flowers using versamark and brown versafine ink first.  Than I heat embossed using clear embossing powder.  After that I sponged Ranger Distress Inks (Walnut, Vintage Photo, and Antique Linen) darkest to lightest moving up the card. 

I added the Verses Rubber Stamps Sentiment - Flowers in Bloom by stamping in brown ink and to make it pop more I embossed using Stampendous Brown Embossing Powder.

I finished off with of course... Butterflies and twine! :)

Sail My Ship

The Fashionable Stamping Challenge is all about nautical.  I knew the new Artistic Outpost quotable from Louisa May Alcott was the perfect quote to use for this challenge.

I spent many a day reading Louisa May Alcott and the same books over and over.  I was very pleased that a quote from her was included on the Quote and Quotables plate.

I pulled out the lovely Beyond the Sea plate and some fishnet to coordinate with the sentiment.  The background is a glimmer misted sprayed over fishnet on white cardstock.  Stamp the music using brown ink over the misted background. Sponge edges with brown dye ink.

The lighthouse was stamped using black ink and colored with watercolor pencils and an aqua brush.  There was sponging of the dye ink over the background. I added the ship in the background from the Huck Finn plate. 

I do think I went a little overboard with the birds. LOL!  But once I started I had to balance them out! :)

Portrait in Time

Greetings!  I saw the Simon Says Challenge Stamp and Show today and saw it was to create your own background which is one of my favorite things to do.  I also mixed my elements to meet the bingo requirements of the Fashionable Stamping Challenge. I immediately pulled out some background stamps and started to play.

The background is created using a combination of the Music Score background and the Jumbo  Cling Holly Hock stamped over the background.  Both were stamped in brown ink.  The flowers were colored with a touch of glimmer mist using a waterbrush. I accented the centers with bronze glass glitter.

The edges were embossed using Aged Gold Embossing Enamel.

The focal image is the Cling Plume Portrait framed out in a Tattered Angels Timepiece frame. I actually embossed the frame with the Stampendous Aged Gold Embossing Enamel a few different times and then stamped in it while it was warm using the music background. Love how it textured the frame!

The sentiment is stamped inside a stamped tag. Distress Tags, Rose Branch Border

Let's try this again. :)  Simon Says Stamp and Show anything Goes, Fashionable Stamping Challenge - Monochromatic +1, and yeah!  Tim's 12 Tags.

I feel much better about my tag today than my card yesterday.  Yesterday's card needs something else but I couldn't think of what so I moved on. 

Tim has decided to make his 12 tags a monthly tag. Here is Tim's Tag.

Here is my tag:

I had seen this beautiful tinsel at Michael's in the spring section.  Yesterday it was on sale for 40% off and the end of the tinsel roll had this adorable cupid image on both sides. So I picked it up and brought it home and popped those images off the sides. :)

That was the inspiration for my tag.  I glimmer misted canvas tape and stamped the Verses How Do I love Thee on the tape in black ink.  I used that to form my frill around my image.  I applied the beautiful tinsel around the edge.

The background on the tag is the same Verses Rubber Stamp stamped in versamark and heat embossed using clear embossing powder.  I then sponged on Ranger Distress Inks - Victorian Velvet over the surface. I added a little watermarks with some Perfect Pearls Misting.

The Love sentiment is Memory Box.  The flourish is from Hero Arts and is stamped using Ranger Distress Inks Vintage Photo.

Masculine Birthday Card

 I combined the lovely sketch from Mojo Monday #228, the monochromatic +1 color challenge from the Fashionable Stamping Challenge and Anything Goes at Simon Says Stamp and show to create a masculine birthday card.

 I started with the shapes/layout from the sketch and started pulling out stamps to create backgrounds on my shapes. I mixed in the Hero Arts stamps to create the backgrounds.  The main sentiment is from Verses Rubber Stamps - Happy Happy Happy.

The monochromatic is supposed to be blue but it is more gray and my plus one was the pop of orange.

Butterflies and Brocade

City Crafter Challenge this week is to show the inside and outside of your card.  I paired the challenge up with the Fashionable Stamping Challenge #18 - Butterflies or Bugs.

 I took the idea and made a window card.  So the pretty inside can show on the outside. :) 

Here is the front of the card on an angle so you can see the frame is lifted which will hopefully protect the butterflies in transit.

I didn't put a sentiment or verse inside yet. I will add something when it goes to it's final destination. :)

The background is created using that beautiful Brocade Background stamp from Our Daily Bread and the Butterfly Bush is from the Faith set and the sentiment form the Simple Things Set.

I used Walnut Stain Distress Ink and added a touch of pink watercolor pencil to the butterflies. Blended with a waterbrush.

The background is stamped multiple times using the walnut stain dye ink and smeared with white acrylic paint.

I punched the border and added a strip of the background to the inside to highlight the punched border. 

The sketch is from Wee Memories Challenge.  This is Jenny's last challenge and I was happy to play along one more time.

Butterfly Love

I love my butterflies. I was happy to pull out my new ODBD butterfly sets and make a card for the Fashionable Challenge #12 - Anything Goes using your New stash and the Moxie Fab World - Cool Tools Week - Die Cutting.

I started with a background created on a 8 1/2" x 11" piece of white cardstock.  I stamped the background using ODBD Honeycomb background  using Ranger Archival Ink Coffee. I inked up the stamp and then used a baby wipe to wipe off portions of the stamp before stamping to give an uneven effect on the background.  After I finished stamping the entire surface I sponged white acrylic paint across the surface.

The background was cut and distressed with a distressing tool and brown dye ink. Stamp the butterfly flourish using Versafine Toffee and Ranger Archival Coffee ink on the background.  Stamp again on a another piece of the honeycomb background.  Stamp the butterflies using the gold ink and overlay the details with the brown ink. Die cut using the butterfly dies.  Stamp the sentiment using the brown ink. Cut and distress edges.

The butterfly dies, stamps and sentiment are all part of the ODBD Gods Love.

Think Lovely Thoughts

The challenge at Fashionable Stamping Challenge is Travelling.  I thought why not Peter and Wendy?  They certainly traveled a great distance to NeverLand. "Second Star to the right and straight on til Morning".

I used the Artistic Outpost Loverly London plate and the Artistic Outpost Neverland  to create a view over London with Peter and Wendy talking about flying as the levitate over the city.

The city was created by stamping the image multiple times and coloring with a touch of watercolor. Then I layered the images and pop dotted them to give additional depth. After that was done I trimmed them off to conform to the edge of the circle.

The main images were stamped using black archival ink and colored using watercolor pencil.  They were cut out and pop dotted onto the background.

We are just starting to wind down on the holiday festivities and getting in some fun family outings. Also sneaking in some stamping time with some good friends!

Steampunk Love

 

I mixed some steampunk with a little love. Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge this week is Steampunk and the Fashionable stamping challenge is Tags.  I mixed them together to make a Valentines Tag. 

The little heart and clock is from the Artistic Outpost Oz Collage.  The banners and clock are from the Artistic Outpost Whimsical Melange plate. 

The background recipe for the tag and hearts: 

1. Spray yellow and pink glimmer mist on manilla tags. (2 different ones)
2. Emboss using embossing folders. I used a mix of the gears, bingo, and numbers folders. 
3. Smear embossed area with versamark watermark ink pad. 
4. Heat emboss using Aged Gold and Aged Silver embossing powders from Stampendous. 
5. Edge the hearts with black marker. Edge tag with black cardstock.

The banners received a similar treatment but instead of a embossing folder they were stamped with the clock face and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.

A new Fashionable Challenge

A friend shared a new challenge blog called Fashionable Stamping Challengess and this week's challenge is lace or ribbon. A perfect challenge for me. :)

The stamps are the lovely Stampendous Rosehips stamped using Coffee Ranger Archival ink.  The flowers are colored using watercolor pencils.  The main circle image is coated in clear embossing powder.
