Silvery Snowflakes

Lovely transition from Saturday's silvery stars to today's silvery snowflakes.   The challenge this week at  Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge   is the good old times.  One of the things I love about Simon Says Stamp is that you can find a variety of stamps including some oldies but goodies.   I decided to look through my stamps for some of the my favorite older stamps that Simon Says Stamp has in the store to showcase.

I also wanted to try something new using embossing paste.  I wanted to make an impression embossing paste using my stamps.

My first thought was to cover cardstock with the silver embossing paste (Wendy Vecchi) and cover the embossing paste with clear plastic wrap.  I then pressed my favorite Hero Arts Snowflake designblock into the paste covered by the plastic wrap.  My thought was to let it dry and then pull the plastic wrap. Of course I was too impatient and pulled it off too early and pulled up some of the embossing paste.  A messy example.

Round Two:

I sprayed my paper with the shimmery gold spray first and then a thin layer of embossing paste.  I inked up my rubber stamp with versamark ink and pressed it directly into the embossing paste and pulled up the stamp. Voila a beautiful shimmery silver background.  I set that aside to dry overnight. I immediately cleaned my stamp to prevent any embossing paste from staying on the stamp. It looks just like the faux metal technique. Very cool!

Next up I went for an uneven application of embossing paste and stamped into it.

I started with a misted background using the blue spray.  Let that dry and then splodged on some embossing paste.  I stamped it again with the same stamp. After it dried I pulled together a card.

I tied the tulle around the background.  I die cut the rosette die from white cardstock.  I then embossed it with silver embossing powder. 

I added the Merry Christmas tag and embossed the edges of the stamped sentiment using silver tinsel embossing powder.
