Stair Step Card

In continuing my cards for my class I created a few more using different folding techniques. This one uses the stair step fold. I love this fold especially to create different layers.
I left the oval blank for the class to select whatever sentiment they wanted.

I also wanted to use the same folding technique used on Lin's card. So I sized it down and used two Memory Box cards to create this:

When opened it looks like this:

I also have a hidden reason for making all these folded cards. I am going to host a challenge during the 2 Peas Winterfest which is happening at the end of February. These are going to be the samples for my challenge.

Coloring with Copics

Yeah for the Saints!

My son had a volleyball tournament this past weekend and I had a little down time between his matches. (They lost most of their games but played well)

I had stamped a bunch of little girls to practice coloring with my copics. When I was finished with the coloring I decided to create cards from the girls that I thought turned out enough to put on a card. :)
Here is my series of girl cards. I am going to send them off to the Cards for Kids Drive that Jennifer McGuire is hosting. (Except the first one as my DD saw the little girl before I placed her on a card and asked to have her. I made the first card for Tanya.

I was struggling to do something different and had an idea to put her on a swing.I made one blond girl and probably could have done a little more blending on her hair.

Last but not least a sponged background to blend the purple and yellow combo.

Hope you enjoyed my ensemble of girls. The stamps are all Hero Arts and the little girl is from the Hero Arts Sparkle Design You're the Best. The pattern paper is Basic Grey and the cardstock Bazzill.
Have a lovely Monday!

Hero Arts Challenge - Month of February

The Hero Arts Blog Challenge this month is either flowers or St. Patricks Day. The flowers is pretty easy but the St. Patricks Day takes a little more thought as there are no St. Patty's day stamps from HA other than the sentiment. Here is my take on that part of the challenge:

I used the heart flourish stamp with green ink to simulate the clover feel. Having said all of that about trying to come up with a St. Patty's Day card take a look at Heather Maria's card here. It is gorgeous and she used poetry about Ireland in her card.

Makes me want to go back to the inking board and try again. Unfortunately... Going to be a busy day with a superbowl party, church and picking up and dropping off kids. Have a lovely day and stay dry and warm if you are in the midst of the snow!

Moxie Fab World Taintor Challenge

Cathy at the Moxie Fab World had issued a Monday Moxie Fab Challenge to create a card in the style of Anne Taintor. The challenge was to create a card with a sassy saying to go with the vintage picture. I hunted down some advertising pictures from post cards and used them to create three cards. I apologize up front for some of the humor. It took me much longer to come up with something for the sayings than to create the cards.

The first card was from a postcard and has part of the sentiment on the front:

and the rest on the inside: (I know I don't look this good when I go grocery shopping!)
The next one I tried for a long time to come up with a different expression but when my father laughed at what I had put, I figured it wasn't too bad. Although he did say it depended on who I was sending it to.

I have a few friends who go fishing with us and I think will appreciate this, as we have all had a few fishing stories...
The last one took the longest to come up with a saying and we all had different ideas and I ended up with this:

Well this was definitely a challenge and something very different for me...

Have a lovely day!

Tag Tuesday # 37 - Touch of Red

Louise's challenge this week is a tag with a touch of red. I am feeling a little lacking in creativity. I created two tags and felt like they were something I had done before. So I apologize if they look familiar.

Here is the first tag. I loved the touches of the white gel pen on this.

The fringe is some really fun crepe paper ribbon that Louise sent me as a RAK. Thanks Louise!

The second one shows how bad my sewing skills really are as that is faux sewing and it reflects how my real sewing looks, when I do sew! :)

I hope you are having a lovely week. I am excited as my girlfriend Lisa was at CHA and we will be getting together tomorrow and I can chat with her about her adventures.

I have a few cards I created for the Taintor challenge at the Moxie Fab challenge that I hope to share sometime this week still.

Thanks for stopping by..

Travel book

I decided to create a travel book inspired by the tag I created for Tag Tuesday. The stamping overlays was so much fun, I thought why not create a little book that could be used to journal, capture tickets or other odds and ends and hold small pictures.

This is my book and it was so much fun to stamp in multiple colors and ideas. The most fun was to see which stamps I had that I could use to create the different pages. I tried not to re-use any stamps in the different pages.

The cover was created using one of my favorite stamps from Hero Arts (map stamp) and one of my new favorites from Memory Box (Create, Discover, Explore).

I stamped on the reverse side of each page.

I left a little room for writing notes. The next page I added a pocket and I purposely stamped the script background unevenly to allow for a faded look. Can I just say how much fun it is to not stamp perfectly! :)
The back of this page was a mix of stamps but I loved how the dark blue damask looks like wallpaper. That was another bonus of this was getting to try some different things with my stamps and see what I would like to use again!

The next page I finished and decided I wanted to add a pocket. I already had this stamped piece but I had cut out a circle for the tag you will see on the last page. I decided to use it anyways as it reminded me of a knot hole.

I created a tag to showcase the pocket. The last page of the book has a layer because someone meaning me... doesn't know how to check her sentiments before she stamps them. So when I finished the page I stamped the sentiment upside down.

This also has a pocket to hold other mementos. The back of the book looks like this:

Would you believe that I would once again stamp my sentiment upside down? Yep!
Well I am not going to list all the products I used in this project, but if you see something you want to know, drop me a line and I would be happy to look up which set/stamp it was.
I hope you enjoyed my travel book.
Have a lovely day!
