Tag Tuesday on Sunday - Christmas In July Colors

Louise's challenge for us this week was to create a tag using Christmas colors (green and red) but not a Christmas card.

Here is my tag:

Recipe:

1. Stamp Artistic Outpost Beyond the Sea - Lighthouse using black pigment ink.
2. Smear Ranger Crushed Olive on craft mat and paint ground using water brush.
3. Smear Ranger Distress Inks Fire Brick Red on craft mat and paint light house using water brush.
4. Mask light house.
5. Stamp background using Beyond the Sea - Song using black pigment ink.
6. Stamp Sentiment onto Ivory Cardstock and cut into pieces.
7. With mask still in place. Smear Adirondack green & light blue paints across sky.
8. Versamark entire tag and clear emboss. Repeat 3 times.
9. Bend and fold tag to get cracks in embossed surface.  Smear brown dye ink over surface and into cracks.
10. Go up into kids bathroom and cut a piece off the draped fishnet in corner behind door. :O
11. Attach cut fishnet to top right corner of card and leftovers from that to ribbon.
12. Pop dot and attach sentiment.

This was very fun to create. I am going to have to put it on a card to send out because I love the fishnet effect. :) Don't worry the fishnet still looks good in the bathroom as it is all draped and not hanging where you can tell it has been cut.

Tag Tuesday Challenge # 59 Hearts

Louise's challenge this week is hearts! 

This tag was inspired from this lovely metal heart. It was a lovely RAK(thank you!) and I was very excited to be able to pull it out for the challenge.

The heart is embossed using Queens Gold  Embossing Powder.  The image is from my new Memory Box stamps (Elemental Damask). Love the effect on the rusty metal heart.

The background is stamped using Versafine Vintage Sepia using Memory Box Vintage Scroll.  The edges are sponged with versamark and embossed with the gold embossing powder.

The bird is stamped using Versafine Vintage Sepia and sponged with Dusty Concord.

Tag Tuesday Challenge #58 - Summer

Louise's challenge this week is summer. I apologize up front because I must be in a rut because I finished my tag and realized I used the same colors as last weeks tag and my card from yesterday. (Either that or I haven't put away my inks!)

I have this beautiful set of stamps from Artistic Outpost called Bloom and Grow that I have been wanting to ink up.  When I thought of summer I thought of our summer flowers.  Marigolds are one of our hardier annuals that we grow in the summer. They don't mind the heat and last all summer beautifully. They are so cheery and sunny! I decided to use the seed packet stamp and accent it with a few butterflies from the Hero Arts Engravings stamp set.

The paper is yellow pattern paper. I stamped the words using versamark and clear embossed. I then sponged the entire surface using Spiced Marmalade with a little touch of cocoa! :)

Tag Tuesday Challenge #57 - Postage

Louise's challenge this week is to use Postage on the Tag.  I really wanted to play since I made a tag last week and didn't share it as it didn't work out the way I had planned.

I actually used some postage from a package that Deborah sent me from Canada. I had some lovely stamps from Indonesia that I was going to use but these worked with the colors better.  The bell and Forever are from a package of stamps we purchased. They include a large sticker that emulates the stamp and I cut it up and used the images.

The train image is from some Graphics 45 paper that I purchased with tags. I loved the colors and decided to create a coordinating tag. I started with an ivory tag and added red, orange and brown distressing to emulate the Graphics 45 paper.  The map is a Hero Arts stamp which I love and don't get to use often enough.

I also wanted to share a card I made for the Card Patterns Sketch and for the Cards Blog challenge this week.  I unfortunately missed the deadline for the Card Patterns challenge. :(

This is for my youngest DD birthday. She has a July birthday and thinks any red, white and blue card for the 4th of July is for her. So I like to make her a card with the 4th of July mixed in.

Sorry I haven't been around to visit. I have been having issues with my wrists due to too much typing for work, so I have been taking a little of a break from commenting. I will try to get around soon!

Tag Tuesday Challenge # 55 - My Favorite Things

Louise's challenge for  this week is to use your favorite things on your tag.  Here's my tag:

I had too many favorites to fit on one tag so I focused on a few of them:

• Lace (Love the look and feel of the lace)
• Techniques. Love playing with techniques and had a good friend over and we played with shaving cream and the backgrounds on this tag were created using the shaving cream techniques.
• Twine (This keeps sneaking onto my cards and tags)
• Birds or Butterflies - Since I started with the sentiment on this card first I went the bird route. :)
• Distressing - Love distressing!
• Memento Rich Cocoa and/or Versafine Vintage Sepia
• Embellishments - definitely hooked on pearls, buttons, gems...
• Text - Love the look of the text on the backgrounds.

This was a fun challenge and I hope you enjoyed a few of my favorites.

Tag Tuesday # 53 - Music

Talk about challenging... Louise's tag challenge this week is music. I felt like my daughter looking for her weekly show and tell. :)  I was rummaging through all my odds and ends and bits and pieces looking for anything musical related.

Well after all that searching I compiled this tag.

 The bits and pieces I found music related:

Tag Tuesday Challenge #53 - By your own hand

Louise's tag challenge this week is to doodle or write something on your tag.  I had grand visions of doodling, swirling, hand drawing....

Well... it amounted to me using some stickles to create some trails from my butterflies. :) So much for my delusions of grandeur... :)

The tag slides into the pocket. The paper is part of the fantastic Webster's Pages 6 x 6 pack. Loving every sheet of this pack.

The Tag is stamped on Making Memories Paper. The image is from B Line stamped using a brown pigment ink and colored with watercolor pencils.  It is a quote from the Secret Garden and the flowers are part of the stamp.

I stamped it twice and colored the flowers on the second image to cut out and pop dot. I used the remainder of the second stamped image and die cut the butterflies. The edges of the butterflies are sponged with a little orange die ink.

As I said before my doodling is the stickles trail of sparkles on the butterfly.  The dill on the extra piece on the bottom is a new Memory Box stamp.

Here is a nest update. My hubby told me this morning that the eggs had hatched. So we snuck out to take a picture while momma was out gathering some worms.

They look a little hungry but so sweet. Have a beautiful day!

Tag Tuesday challenge #51 - Inspiration from Home

Louise's tag challenge this week is to create a tag inspired from something in your home.   I had to think about this for a little bit and I decided to use a few items from our dining room as an inspiration.

I paired them up for the photo. :) The flowers and wrought iron basket usually sit in the center of the dining room table.  The angel is usually on the side buffet.

The background and my tag shape was stamped and cut out  for another challenge but never used. It was the closest stamp I had to the wrought iron on the basket.

The hydrangea is from Hero Arts and I stamped it multiple times with a mask to create the draping effect. I wanted to capture my angel on the tag somehow but forgot I even had an angel stamp until I was digging around in my misc stamp drawer and found this tiny angel.  She is sweet and I don't think I have ever used her before.

I am really excited because next week I am going to take a class with the fabulous Michelle Zindorf.  Love her work and I am hoping to pick up a few techniques.  In addition my good stamping buddy Lisa is going too so quality stamping time with a friend!

Tag Tuesday Challenge # 49 Glitter

The tag challenge from Louise this week is to use glitter on our tags. I had this wonderful piece of cardstock full of glimmer mist left over from a project that I can't share yet...

I had used the glimmer mist shield before spraying the mists onto the tag. I stamped a faint imprint of a vine along the right side of the tag.  The rose is from Prima and I added a lovely layer of glitter to the rose. The bees are from Impression obsession and they also received a glitter treatment on their wings.

The ribbon and mat are a dark chocolate brown they always photograph black.

Tuesday Tag Challenge #48 - Re-cycle, re-purpose, Re-Use

Louise's challenge this week is to re-cycle, re-use or re-purpose something.  Well... I didn't pull anything out of my cardboard that I have saved. Instead I took some bits and pieces from finished cards and pulled them together for my tag.

The tag shape was created by tracing the outline from a scrap of cardstock left over from die cutting the new Tim Holtz dies.  I used a background that I had stamped for another project to trace the birdcage on.   I then took the bird remnant from that same cardstock and cut around it to create the bird outline I used on my tag.  The bird outline was sprayed with glimmer mist and sponged with brown ink.  The sentiment was a leftover from some projects this week too. (Cleaning up my desk)

The stamps are all Hero Arts. Some of them are from the latest release and I have had so much fun playing with them. The inks are Versafine Crimson Red and Smokey Gray.

So my re-use/re-cycling is from the die cuts leftovers and background scraps. (Hope that counts)

Tag Tuesday Challenge #47 - Inspire Me

Louise's tag challenge this week is to use a quote or word that inspires you.
I thought this was a lovely verse as I am constantly inspired in my art from nature. The verse is from Stampscapes Scenic Sentiments Sheet #5.

This tag started from a scrap piece of kraft with the dogwood stamp already stamped using a brown pigment ink. I laid down a store bought tag and traced it over the stamped image and cut the tag from the kraft cardstock.

The background was stamped using the light pink dye ink and I forgot that it stamps a lovely color until it dries and then it disappears. :) I traced back over the faint background using my watercolor pencils to bring back the image.

Love coloring in the images on kraft. I think it produces such a softness to the color.

Tag Tuesday Challenge - Sketch Challenge

So happy to play along with the Tag Tuesday Challenge at Louise's. I haven't been able to play for a few weeks.

This week's challenge is to use a sketch that Louise provided. Here is the sketch and her lovely tag.

I have had this Graphic 45 paper that I purchased for another project which never got used and decided to use that as my circle. The rest are bits and pieces that I have lying around. Very little stamping. (Always scares me when I get to the end of the project and don't have a lot of stamping on it.) :)

Tag Tuesday Challenge # 44- Black & White

Louise's Tag challenge this week is to create a tag using only black and white...



I was looking forward to trying this out... I had visions of using the diamond pattern or a split image. Instead.....

I ended up using a mask and sponging on black dye ink. I liked the effect. The mask was one I have had for a long time and never used so I was happy to try it out.

I had a hard time finding a white Prima flower in my bin. I found four that were too large for my tag so I had to fold them over and create my flowers using that method.

The butterfly was embossed using the Zing black glitter embossing powder. I didn't think it had enough zing so I applied glitter with a glue pen around the edges.

The shape of my tag is very much inspired by Jacqueline's gorgeous tags that you can admire here. (The best part is she sent me some of them and they are hanging up in my craft room and they are beautiful!!!)

I took one set of pictures with no background paper and you couldn't see the white frame, so I re-took the pictures with my favorite Memory Box pattern paper (Happenstance).

Spring Maybe? and a few challenges

We just had such a beautiful week of warm spring weather. Then this morning we wake up with about an inch of snow on the ground and a light swirling snow and grey skies. That is our spring. :)

Louise's Tuesday Tag Challenge # 43 is to create a spring tag. The Moxie Fab World challenge is about Doily and Lace. So I put the two together following up on my card from yesterday and came up with this:

Can you tell I was experimenting with stamping the doily in different colors? I loved how the new Ranger Distress Ink Bundled Sage looked on the scrap cardstock that I turned it into my tag for the spring challenge. For me the indicator that spring started was the sighting of a Robin our backyard. So my tag is based on the birds and the nests.

Then I liked the effect of the sage lace so much I decided to create a card using the same concept.

The card uses a little bit of real lace for the nest with a little twine tied in a bow intertwined with the lace. There are a few pearls mixed in my doily. Our birds here are very creative as the last nest that fell had quite a few bits and pieces of thread and other items from the family. I am thinking they were pulling from the dryer trap outside.

Butterfly Tag #2 and Tag #3

Here are the other butterflies... inspired by Louise's challenge this week to create a tag with brown and one other color.

I tend to create multiple versions of any project I do. So the butterfly I created before came from this butterfly. I wasn't sure I liked the mix of stamps I used on the butterfly. After I finished the first one I came back to this butterfly.
I put it on the tag after the butterfly was completed. The second butterfly was inspired by the idea of using the medallion flower stamp on a glimmer mist background. I really love the effect of the petals as butterfly wings but got stuck on the body of the butterfly because of it's size. Sometimes when I take pictures of something it loses something in the translation. This is one of those. Other times the card looks better in the photo. But definitely the softness of this didn't translate into the picture.

The stamp used on the bigger butterfly is the Hero Arts Medallion and the background is glimmer mist taffy.

The smaller butterfly used a variety of stamps from Stampabilities, Penny Black, and Hero Arts.

The inks were Memento Rose Bud, StaZon Fuschia, Memento Rich Cocoa, and Versafine Vintage Sepia.

The tag shape was traced from a Hero Arts Clear tag.

Tag Tuesday Challenge #42

Louise's challenge this week is to create a tag with brown and another color. What a great choice pairing brown with another color...


I actually created 3 butterfly tags for this challenge and I am sure the other two will show up in the near future... I decided to use brown and pink together as they are such a beautiful color combination.

The template is from Fiskars. I hand cut the shape.

The music background is a stamp from Stampabilities which I stamped in the center of the butterfly using brown pigment ink. The flowers are are Penny Black stamp and I stamped it twice with a lighter pink and a darker pink.

The edges are distressed using Memento Rich Cocoa. The flower is a flower from Prima Marketing Camelot Roses. I punched the leaves using an EK success punch. The antenna were a pearl accent found in the wedding section of the craft store.

Tag Tuesday Challenge #40

Tag Tuesday challenge this week is Shamrocks! I have 2 shamrock stamps and thought I would use my Memory Box stamp. It has a large shamrock and a small shamrock on the same stamp.

I also used my new Crushed Olive Distress ink. This is one of my favorites from the new colors.
The background is from a bingo card which I photo copied using the black setting on my copier. (Guess my ink is gone again). The gray worked well as a background color, so a happy error.

The orange ink is Versafine Habenero and the lace trim is a Stampers Anonymous stamp and it is embossed using Zing embossing powder.

I am working on a fun project for the Outside the Box blog. It involves a grapevine wreath basket stamp.

Well... I have work that is not as fun to do... So off I go...

Tag Tuesday Challenge # 39

This weeks challenge from Louise is to create a cutsie tag!

Now this is a perfect challenge for me because I have some cute pattern paper burning a hole in my pocket.

I purchased a few sheets of this adorable October Afternoon Splish Splash - Ducks in a Row paper after seeing these chicks on a few of your blogs!

This is going to become a bookmark for my youngest DD. She kept asking me if it was done yet this morning.

You have to see the expression on the last chicks face. He looks like he is sad so I made his umbrella dragging because that is what would happen with my chick when they were not happy.

Don't their umbrellas look like have of an egg shell? I thought that was fun too!

This was much easier for me than the last couple of tag challenges.

Tag Tuesday # 37 - Touch of Red

Louise's challenge this week is a tag with a touch of red. I am feeling a little lacking in creativity. I created two tags and felt like they were something I had done before. So I apologize if they look familiar.

Here is the first tag. I loved the touches of the white gel pen on this.

The fringe is some really fun crepe paper ribbon that Louise sent me as a RAK. Thanks Louise!

The second one shows how bad my sewing skills really are as that is faux sewing and it reflects how my real sewing looks, when I do sew! :)

Tag Tuesday Challenge # 36

Tag Tuesday Challenge # 36 theme is time. Much easier than last weeks challenge. :)

This was so fun and easy to create. I have one Time set of stamps from Cornish Heritage Farms. (LL-6005FUM Time to Stamp) which makes the starting point for the tag really easy.

I also pulled some of my new Hero Arts Stamps to stamp up the background. The butterflies were left over from my last project and I decided to add them as accents.
