Happy Spring!

How about a little bit of spring?

I made this springy background on a mixed media paper using the Darkroom Door large stencil with fun circles.

I sponged on all these beautiful distress oxide colors using a mix of spring hues.  Then I came back and added some checkerboard stamping in the same colors.

Then I brought out the butterfly stamps and made a collection of butterflies to coordinate.

To finish them off some flowers and butterfly sentiments.  I created an ATC, tag, and card.  I also have 2 more ATC backgrounds and another card base.  These colors make me happy while we patiently wait for some of our spring flowers to bloom in the  yard.

German Shepard

Hi!  I am back with a new photo stamp called German Shepard from Darkroom Door.

I loved the intelligence in the eyes of this Shepard and I decided to highlight them with a fun light blue accent.

She also got the royal treatment with a crown made of butterflies!  I tried to put one on her nose but it didn't show off her beautiful features.

I added a bit of clear embossing on the butterflies to make them shine a little bit.  The dog is stamped in brown archival ink and I cut her out and added a touch of watercolor pencils to shade her fur.

The background is a stencil with a mix of brown and blue dye inks.

Sunflowers and Sunshine

Hi!  I am looking forward to the garden and all the beautiful flowers and sunshine!  I am going to share a card using the new Darkroom Door Planted Sunflower.

I stamped the image multiple times.  I tried with a brown, gray and black.  I decided to go with the gray to allow me to add some color and make the images pop with some shading and layering.

This lovely image had me pulling out my watercolor pencils to color the images.  I used a waterbrush to soften and blend the colors.  The flower and leaves were colored twice and cut out to layer a ring of petals and leaves.

The center of the sunflower was colored with the watermark pen and then I sprinkled with the distress embossing powder.  It gave it a nice bumpy texture.

To add a few highlights and deepen the colors, I took a versamark watermark pen and highlighted the metal images.  I then sprinkled clear embossing powder over the surface and heat set it.

I hope this brings you a little sunshine to your day!

Spread your Wings

It is Butterfly time!  I am back to share a post with the new Darkroom Door Rubber Stamp Set called Spread Your Wings!  I love the butterfly stamps and was happy to play around with these!

This set has 3 of the same butterfly in varying sizes.  I love the varying sizes as I could stamp and color them all the same and create a dimensional butterfly.

I took the die cuts and sprayed them with the same inky spray I used to color the butterflies.  I layered them behind the butterfly and placed it on the chicken wire background.  The set comes with a variety of wing inspired sentiments.

I used the Warm Wishes flowers with the butterflies and the same background to create another pretty summery cards!

For the final card I used a vellum overlay to add a lovely sentiment with a sweet butterfly with a safety pin body.

Hope you enjoyed my beautiful butterflies!

Saturday Showcase - Anything Goes

Hi!  I am back with a special post for The Funkie Junkie Boutique Challenge.  The design team is sharing the Saturday Showcase post on the challenge blog.

I had fun creating a trio of ATC's with a variety of ideas and fun embellishments.

My first one used a beautiful embossed background with shimmery highlights to host the adorable dancing star.

She had to be accessorized to glam her up a bit with some tulle and stars!

My next ATC is a nod to the dairy farm.

I used a few farm inspired stamps to create the background and the main image.  The embellishments were pure fun and I was glad I was able to dig through my stash and find a few things that blended with my theme.

My final ATC was inspired by a lovely scrap of inky background.  I went with the silvery blue background and created a lovely flowery vignette.

The background was a scrap of spray inks antique pearl and blue.  I added some Faded Text stamped letters.  The flowers were die cut and sprayed with a mix of blue and brown sprays.  I love butterflies and couldn't resist stamping them and cutting them out to add to my scene.

If you enjoyed seeing my ATC's  you need to hop over to the Challenge Blog and take a look at the design team ATCS!

Anything Goes

Time for an Anything Goes challenge at The Funkie Junkie Boutique!  Here is how Jenny describes the challenge:

"We are going with an 'Anything Goes' theme for the following two weeks and are looking forward to seeing your vintage/shabby chic projects."

I am rather enamored with my new Eileen Hull Sizzix Mandala die and have been playing with the die cuts and the masked version of the die.

I started with using a cut out Mandala as a mask and sponging a soft distress oxide ink over the surface to leave a faint pattern.

I then cut the sponged background into a tag shape. I layered the tag onto a cardstock tag base and sponged around the edges with the same ink.

I die cut flowers from white cardstock.  I Stamped script on the flowers and embossed with clear embossing powder.

The background received a  splattering of shimmery spray ink all over to give it beautiful water spots.

Please play along and share your art!   The overall winner will  receive a $25 gift certificate to go on a spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. And the winner, along with our top three picks from the remaining entries will receive badges to display on their blogs in recognition of their outstanding contributions.

Thanks for stopping by!
