Faith has Wings

Hi!  I am sharing a tag today inspired by Tim Holtz's January tag.  Tim is featuring a remix of two previous tags using the foil and chalk technique.  I started with the foil and then used a stamped image in place of the chalk technique.

The foil embossing is the Sizzix Layered Butterfly.  I embossed on a piece of foil and then tore it in half to apply to either end of my tag.  I then had this stamped image on my desk that I had been playing with and thought it would look lovely with the wings.  I redid it a few times to get it the way I wanted it with the clouds in the background.

Tim's Tags Day Twelve - Peace

I have to say that my favorite tag from Tim is today's final tag.   I love the white and blue colors and the softness of the background.  That is what I tried to bring into my tag today.  I love the 12 days as he is always showcasing different techniques which inspire me to play with my inks, tools and just try something new.

I have been wanting to use this Stampington angel on one of my twelve tags.  I used the sweet angel image  to replace the doll fragment Tim used.

Quick run-down on what I did:
  1. Stamp on background of the tag Hero Arts Design Block - Damask using black ink.
  2. Stamp Cornish Heritage Farms Scrapblock - Music sheet onto tissue paper about 4 times.
  3. Run tape over the surface of the tag. Layer on stamped tissue paper.  Repeat multiple times tearing excess and re-applying. Cut off excess tissue paper around the edges.
  4. Coat with Distress Crackle Paint.  This caused the tag to bend and warp. So when it dried I attached it to a piece of re-cycled cardboard.
  5. Stamp angel onto white cardstock. Highlight with watercolor pencils. Versamark entire surface and heat emboss using Kaleidoscope embossing powder.
  6. Stamp tissue paper with music background. Cut in long strip. Fold every 1/4" back and forth (fan). Tie in center. Trim edges and fluff to flower. Spritz with glimmer mist. Apply glue along edges and glitter.
  7. Attach frill and tinsel along bottom.
  8. Cut house shape from thin chipboard. Emboss with embossing folder. Paint with white and blue paints. Apply blue dye ink over embossed areas.
  9. Stamp O Holy Night and cut. Sponge edges with blue dye ink. Attach to house.
  10. Pop Dot angel and apply to house.
  11. Apply dye ink, silver paint to sticker letters.  Apply glue pen and glitter.
I forgot one little detail. I made a wire halo for my angel.  It is hard to see but so cute IRL!

**** Edited to add *****

I just realized I forgot to pick the winner of my blog candy....  Drumroll please...

Vintage Santa

I love my non-traditional colors for holiday cards.  This card was no exception:

I was very excited to learn that it was selected to be in the December Crafts N Things!  Yeah!

The details on how to create it and the supplies listed are actually part of the cards featured over on the Crafts N Things on-line bonus features here.  There are so many beautiful projects in Holiday issue and I love to look through it for inspiration.

Hope you are having a wonderful Monday!

Play Date Cafe Challenge #49

Sarah selected  the colors for the Play Date Cafe challenge this week.

Another fun mix of colors to play with this week. The design team also had a second challenge this week to use a technique called Clipped Corners provided by our sponsor this week Technique Junkies.

I started with this card and had about 4 different backgrounds before I decided on this background. The flowers felt like they went with my temples and Buddha.

After I finished my first card I realized that the technique called for only one corner to be clipped. So I created another card with this beautiful angel from Stampington.

I am not going to include all the stamp credits and paper credits, but if you have questions about any of them, drop me a line and I will look them up for you. :)

Onto our wonderful sponsor this week:  Technique Junkies. I am always seeing the techniques from TJ on blogs and love the different techniques that are used.

Technique Junkies is offering a wonderful  prize for the winner of the challenge. A three-year online-only subscription. The winner will have access to the online 2009, 2010, and 2011 issues. (Valued at 29.95)

Pat Huntoon is the owner of Technique Junkies and our guest designer this week, go see what she created using the technique and colors. Her blog is Pat Stamps.

Orange, Browns and Yellows again...

I started with two challenges and only ended up with finishing one. But one of the challenges was a color challenge which I didn't finish. So that is why I have my yellows, oranges and browns again.

Today has been a bit challenging for me.. Do you ever have those days where you get up and something goes wrong and then everything you touch after that you break or it doesn't work. Well that has been me today. This card was about the only thing I finished without breaking. :)

The HA blog challenge is to go green. I re-cycled a piece of cardboard from packaging from Making Memories. They have the cutest background in their little accessories. This was a light blue grid paper. Unfortunately, I stamped so many colors you can't see it.

Thanks for stopping by...

I am not even going to attempt putting down the products today. I bet I would get them wrong.
