Tinful of Tags

Hi all and welcome to another week of the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. This week the challenge is to stamp and punch!

I started with the Tim Holtz bird punch and everything worked out from there.  I create a tin to hold my tags:
And on the inside:

I used the Idea-Ology Pocket squares to cut and use on the outside and inside and edged with tissue tape.

And then created a series of tags to put in there:

A close up of the different tags:

I started with the pocket cards and cut them to size to fit the tin.  I then punched out the birds in the corner of the tags.
I pulled out a variety of stamps, rub-ons and paints to decorate the various tags.
I have to admit I have a few favorites of all the different tags I created although some I created at first grew on me over time.
The background on the coral one is actually a stamped floral background but it gave such a soft lovely effect I decided to add the Eiffel Tower.
The last one used a touch of watercolor pencils to color in the flowers and then a touch of sequins for a touch of texture.

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

Voyage

It's March 1st which means time to play along with the March tag from Tim Holtz.

As you can see I was trying out Tim's smudge technique with the fully inked and the shadow stamped version.

Here is my finished tag:
I went a different route. I loved the birds and nature theme from Tim and can't wait for my new stamps to ship so I can play with them but decided to use a Stampers Anonymous Travel Away set.  I haven't inked up this set and was glad to play with them on my tag.

I added a hint of color on my images using STAEDTLER karat Aquarell watercolor pencils.

I used Ranger Distress Inks - Fired Brick for the red images and Memento - Jet Black for the black images.  I also used the Visual Artistry The Journey and Stampers Anonymous Classics 1.

Have a lovely Saturday!

Deadwood

Welcome to the wild wild west... The challenge this week at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge is about cowboys... My  family and I took a trip out west which included visiting Deadwood which had me scrapping our trip.
I started with trying to create a poker hand reflecting Wild Bill's hand when he was assassinated which is called the Dead Man's Hand.  I did a little online searching to find out what vintage cards would look like and what the hand contained.

I started with the cards first which are always fun to create. I cut them to size and rounded the corners.  I distressed the edges with brown dye ink.  I stamped a soft damask using a gold ink.  I then added the suits in black ink in the quantity which was in his hand.  In my research on line there were varying stories on the fifth card and some showed it as not visible.  So I decided to create a fancy pattern on the backside of my card. Of course no saloon cards would be right without some glass rings and splatters.  I even added a bullet hole to one of my cards.

To create the background on my layout I took three steps:

I sprayed the background with gold mist.  I then added a layer of bronze mist.  I finished with stamping the Wild West letters in gold repeatedly.

After that was finished I added in a row of damask along the left side in black and gold.

I highlighted the center with a black gem.  I stamped the saloon and highlighted it with some shadowing in the background.

I added the cowboy and a few pistols stamped in black on a similar background.  I added the grunge letters misted to coordinate and accented with metallic brads.  I added a date underneath my kids.
