Masculine ATCs

Happy Friday! I am back sharing my Masculine ATC's today... I used a mix of pattern papers and my Artistic Outpost stamps to mix up a series of ATCs. The theme was not only Masculine but also found objects. I pulled out all my bits and pieces to add interesting objects from my embellishments and bits and pieces.

My first ATC takes us to Paris during the Balloon Exposition:

 I love the color combination of the pops of red with black and white.

I moved onto the boy image and love how he is translucent against the blue wood panels.

This reminded me of artwork my sister created where she painted her people as translucent and blended into the background.  The work was described as us leaving imprints of ourselves in places with our memories.


The next ATC features the Englishman from the Loverly London plate from Artistic Outpost:

His image fits the sentiment from the same plate and I thought it was fun and quirky. I used an eye hook to give him a eye glass.

I love this image on my next ATC because of the joy on his face.

And the ruler broke easily enough to fit along the top and I had the perfect screw tops to attach to give it the rustic feel I wanted.

Just Be

How about a little stamping?  Simon Says Stamp and Show this week is challenging us to do a little stamping.  You can interpret it to mean using little stamps, only doing a little stamping or stamping in small spaces.   I love my stamping so for me this was a real challenge.  I used the little spaces in Journal tags to capture images hence my little stamping.

I had to create a little holder for my journal tags and I created a pocket tag with a large manila tag.

The Kudzu Kafe has "Be" sentiments and I paired them with the images on the tags. I think they are fun sentiments and perfect with the images.

I stamped the image on the Journal tag using black ink. I then added the sentiment in different areas of the tag. I colored the images and journal tags with a mix of red and blue watercolor pencils.

I created the pocket to hold the mini tags from a large manila tag.  I folded the tag up and added two strips of  which was folded up to form a pocket. To emulate the journal tags I added a strip of black ink on the top and bottom of the pocket. I stamped a row of rulers along the top.  I added a few buttons on either side.

Extra Extra Read All About It!

Welcome to the Artistic Outpost Monthly Blog Hop!  This month we are featuring Masculine projects.  My DH has a special birthday coming up and I wanted to create something special to celebrate.

I started with a leftover paperbag that I thought would be fun to use as a big pocket for a series of tags.

I asked each of my kids to write down a series of memories they shared with their dad and I filled out the remaining ones to equal 50 special moments of time.

I cut out pieces of lined paper to use on the front of the tags.  I sprayed gold glimmer mist over stencils on the white paper to give different patterns and effects.  I stapled the paper to tags which were glimmer misted to match.  I distressed all the edges with brown dye ink.  I stamped the Paperboy in the bottom corner and colored with the image with watercolor pencils and waterbrush. I added a few stamped Extras randomly.

Each tag has stamped images mixed in with the journalling. 

The bag uses a combination of Glue Paste and gold Glimmer mist.  I stamped the boy from the PaperBoy onto the envelope.  I added a mix of the Newspaper words from the Paper plate and the ledger plate from Ephemera Backgrounds. I added the clocks from Auld Lang Syne along the top right of the pocket.

Full of Blessings

Happy Friday!  We are having a family party this weekend for the kids birthday. Lots of cleaning today to get prepared.  I took a little creative time and created this:

 

I received this lovely pack of 12 x 12 Pink Paislee Hope Chest papers form Simon Says Stamp.  I love the neutrals and patterns on these papers.  I took a corner piece of the paper and cut it to fit my card and then layered in the girls from the Artistic Outpost Paperboy plate.  I stamped them on ivory cardstock using Ranger Archival Ink - Coffee and colored them with a hint of STAEDTLER watercolor pencils.  I then stamped the birds on a wire along the edge of the text.  I added a row of trees along the back.  To finish it off I took my pink watercolor pencils and added a hint of pink along the tree line.

Artistic Outpost - Feb 2013 Release

I am excited to share the new release from Artistic Outpost!  Paperboy is the newest plate from Artistic Outpost.  The plate has the sweetest images of "newsies", the paper boys selling papers on the corners of the city streets. Also included are a newsprint collage, a megaphone for announcing the latest and greatest, and sentiments professing that "you are the hero in your own story".

I created a series of wall hangings using a series of chipboard coasters:

I started with stamping the paper boy image onto newspaper and coloring him with watercolor pencils and a waterbrush. I tore the edges and added distress ink around the edges.

The background was painted white and stamped over with the background stamp using a blue ink. I added a few banners from the Country Life plate.  The muslin was stamped with the script from Secretary Pool

The second project uses the girls from the PaperBoy plate:

I kept singing the songs from Annie as these girls reminded me of the girls in the orphanage with Annie.  I placed them in front of the cityscape and added the sentiment from Kudzu Kafe.

The last image made me think of some of the big news days from different eras:

I used the images from the Hero plate for the backdrop behind the newspaper boy.  I added the rustic stars an the word Hero.
