CR84FN45 - Never Stop Going

 Happy New Year!  We are welcoming in the new year at CR84FN with some bright and bold colors!  I used the Card Patterns Sketch #146 for my layout.

I was lucky enough to get to play with the new Our Daily Bread Designs -  January Release.  There is this fantastic grunge Butterfly image with coordinating die and background stamp. 

I started with an ink based background using Rusty Hinge re-inker and Tattered Angels Glimmer mist.  I spritzed the glimmer mist onto the craft mat and dripped in the re-inker.  I then used my plastic ruler to smear the two together on the craft mat. I then pulled out white cardstock and dragged it across the inky mat to pick up the colors. 

At the end of the smears there are always drips and drops of colors and I pick those up with a new piece of cardstock.

The main image was stamped over one of the pieces I created in my inky process.

The butterfly image is stamped on the inked background using StazOn Azure.  I then re-stamped the butterfly only in Rusty Hinge.  I stamped the overlay details of the wings of the butterfly on acetate using the StaZon Azure ink. The die cut will cut the shape of the butterfly so I was able to die cut all my butterfly pieces.

The backgrounds were created by stamping the small butterflies using Azure and smearing over it with white acrylic paint. The second background piece is from the ink smearing.  The lovely sentiment comes in another new set being released this week at ODBD.

Veterans Day

I combined a few challenges together to honor our Veterans.  I am a little late for our Veteran's day.  The City Crafter Challenge is Thanksgiving, Card Patterns Sketch # 141 and Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Women. 

In honor our Vets who serve for our country this is a thank you.  My brother who is serving overseas right now and for all our soldiers.

The stamps are from Artistic Outpost She-Roes plate. The background is from the AO Ephemeral Backgrounds.  The inks are Ranger Archival Coffee, Crimson Red, Ranger Distress Inks Vintage Photo and Versafine Blue. The cardstock base is actually blue.  (Photographs black)

Spooktacular Sketch and Color Combo

Sorry about my second post of the day. :)  I wanted to share a card created for the ColourQ color challenge #106 and the Card Patterns Sketch #137.

Sparkle Rubber Creations is hosting the Card Patterns challenge this week so I thought I would pull out Mummy Oliver to play along.  The sentiment and image is from Sparkle Creations. The background bats are from Artistic Outpost.

I colored Oliver and then added some sparkle to his wraps. :)

Card Patterns Sketch #136

I am guest designing this week at Card Patterns!  The sketch is a fun one to play with and inspired me to pull out my pattern papers to create a patchwork background. 

The background papers are from My Minds Eye - Lost and Found II.  I sponged the edges of the ivory card base and the papers with Ranger Distress ink - Vintage Photo.  The main image was stamped two times using brown ink on pattern paper.  The flowers and leaves were colored with watercolor pencils and highlighted with white gel pen.  I hand cut the flowers from the second image and pop dotted them to create layers. The sentiment is from Verses Rubbers Stamps -  Let us Be Grateful - QQ0852-F.

Music & Years

 

This card was designed with the Card Patterns Sketch # 133, the Color Throwdown #160 colors and the music is for the City Crafter Challenge of Music. 

The main circle was glimmer misted with pink chalkboard mist over a music mask.  I cut a circle from the background and mounted it on a brown circle. Sponged the edges with a hint of brown dye ink. 

The flowers, ribbon and sheet of music also received a coat of the same chalkboard mist. 

The bird is from Artistic Outpost - Birds of a Feather plate and the sentiment is from Verses Rubber Stamps - Music & Years - BB0412-F

I am playing in two challenges: Paper Craft Color Inspiration #5 and Card Patterns Sketch #116.

The butterfly is much more glossy and delicate. Hard to get a good picture. The background is created from a really cool circle stamp from Stampers Anonymous. I used the watercolor markers to color the alternate circles with orange and pink. I spritzed it with some water and stamped in a diagonal to create a fun background. The Merci stamp is from the Hero Arts Thanks Clear Stamps Set. The butterfly pin is from Claires. I have taken to stalking the clearance center there with my DD when she wants to browse the jewelry.  They have so many fun pieces of jewelry which make great accessories on the cards. :)

I love the pink and orange color combination and thought this was a very fun pattern.  I worked from a loose interpretation of the sketch and used the tulle to give the effect of the sketch. :)

We had some big thunderstorms last night but no damage and no tornadoes which I am very thankful for. Today looks like some beautiful weather.  Hope your day is filled with sunshine!

cr84fn23 - Pretty Petals

The  CR84FN23 challenge this week is some of my favorite colors: pink, black and cream! Combine that with a lovely sketch from Card Patterns #110 and you get my card. :)

I had just purchased the Hero Arts Garden Star F5429 flower and I was inspired to create some pink vellum flowers.

The flowers are created by:

1. Spray thin sheet of vellum with glimmer mist. (Viva Pink) Let dry. 
2. Stamp flowers using Versamark on glimmer mist background. 
3. Heat emboss with cream embossing powder. 
4. Cut out. Curl up sides of petals using fingers. Glue dot together. 
5. Accent centers with black gems. 

I had some help with the inspiration on the vellum flowers: Heather's gorgeous vellum flowers, Sue's Vellum with Alcohol Ink Flowers, Janet's lovely card to me for CCC.

Journey

The Moxie Fab World Challenge is In My Beautiful Balloon and it intrigued me to see if I could create a hot air balloon. I decided to pair it up with the Hero Arts Monthly challenge which includes creating a masculine card.The design is based on the Card Patterns sketch #109. 

This was a challenge for me in more than one way as I tried to limit my ribbons, lace, flowers or fancy embellishments and create a hot air balloon. :)

The balloon is a circle with the bottom cut off and a rectangle with rounded corners. Stamp balloon using Hero Arts Antique Map and Old French Writing in a brown pigment ink. Sponge balloon using gold, light orange and brown dye inks.  The basket is a rectangle with rounded corners. Stamp basket using Hero Arts Envelope Pattern and Old French Writing in a brown pigment ink.

Distressed Images

I was getting my car oil changed yesterday and went browsing with my youngest DD. We were looking through the paintings in a home decorating section.  There were so many different beautiful pictures. I should have taken some shots with my camera.  One jumped out at me. It was painted to look like a blue stained wood background with beautiful white flowers draped overlapping across the wood panels. The texture on the wood and flowers looked like a chalky streaky texture. I loved the whole painting and tried to capture that on my cards for today.

I used the color palette from the JUGS challenge #76 - Color Challenge this week, Hero Arts challenge this month includes celebrating birthdays and the Card Patterns Sketch #107 to give me the colors and design and images to create my cards.

I ended up with two versions of the card.  I was pleased with the distressed streaky appearance of each of the cards.

The first card:

 

The background  was created by: Sponging cool blue adirondack acrylic paint in streaks across white cardstock. Sponging snow cap (white) acrylic paint across the blue paint. Taking a medium blue watercolor pencil and drawing lines in various areas. Apply water to smear into the background. Stamp wood grain background using Versamark Watermark ink and clear embossing. Sponge Weathered wood over to add a layer of shading in the grain. 

The second variation of the first  card: 

 

The first set of flowers: On the first card the stamp was covered in blue acryclic paint using a sponge to apply. I then stamped the woodgrain onto the rubber stamp to add texture.  I stamped it onto white cardstock and clear embossed. Because the paint had dried it took very little of the wood grain and the embossing.  Outline the flowers with medium blue watercolor pencil. Apply pink water color pencil to flowers and use the water brush to soften. Accent center of flowers with yellow watercolor pencil. 

The second flower didn't get the wood grain treatment but I applied the paint with a much streakier approach to give it more of the distressed wood paint effect. I also applied less watercolor to the flowers to soften it even more.

Pretty in Pink and Gold

I had fun this morning playing with some Tattered Angels Chalkboard Paint. The colors were inspired by the Moxie Fab World - Color Inspiration - Metallic.  The other challenges include: Wee Memories Challenge #40 Anything Goes, Simon Says Stamp - Bingo (Glimmer, Ribbon, Gems), Tuesday Throwdown - Distressing, Card Patterns - Sketch #99

I am a big fan of the Pure Innocence images and this one is so sweet with her little fairy wings and magic wand. This card will be for one of my daughters although they both are not interested in pink anymore. I still love the pink though! :)

Spring Flowers

 

Wishful thinking about spring flowers. :)  I stamped the lovely Flourishes Sweet Violet set and colored the flowers and leaves using the watercolor markers. The sentiment is from Verses - QQ0830-D - Spring.

A few challenges and Tag #5

Here is my Day #5 tag and the inspiration:  Tim's tag #5. I created two tags along the way and wasn't happy with either result. :(  I am only sharing one of them here.

I also created a card using Mona's color challenge CR84fn6 and the CardPatterns Sketch #93.

 

The sentiment is from Verses called Mother Teresa Quote and the paper is part of the Memory Box Garden Journal Collection.  The background paper is Memory Box Gossamer. The butterfly is from Hero Arts Antique Engravings Clear set.

Card Patterns Sketch #92 - Let Heaven and Nature Sing

I had some really fun tissue tape from Making Memories  and was lucky enough to find the matching paper Mistletoe. I love the fun combination of patterns in Christmas colors. After I saw the sketch from Card Patterns I knew it was a perfect fit.

My card:

The holly is a new stamp from Memory Box called Holly Sprig B1416. The sentiment is also Memory Box called Heaven Sings B1385. I have to say that this sentiment for the holidays is one of my favorites this year as I love using my nature stamps. The birds are from Inkadinkado.

Beyond the Sea

Happy Saturday!

Here is a little card, (for me) that I created this morning. I created it based on the CardPatterns Sketch 91 using a circle which also works for Marks Finest Papers Challenge #30 and for the Simon Says Stamp and Show whatever makes you Happy!

 

The Artistic Outpost lighthouse is stamped using Versafine Black Onyx on October Afternoon SeaSide. 

The background is colored using watercolor pencils and white highlighter. After I finished I clear embossed the entire image. 

The background paper is from the same collection. I embossed the brown cardstock using the Cuttlebug embossing folder. 

I have to confess that after I started playing with the Oz collage plate last time I had to run out and pick up a piece of burlap.  I wanted to have some on hand for the scarecrow.  It has been sitting on my shelf and today after I pulled out my Beyond the Sea lighthouse image I knew I wanted to incorporate the burlap. It works as great texture and you can unravel the edges to create a fringe.  

The stars are from the Christmas trim section at Hobby Lobby and actually are a garland for a tree. I keep pulling them off the wire to use as accents.

Card Patterns Sketch #86

I had on my desk my sweet new stamps and papers from Memory Box.  I was inspired by the adorable deer paper from the Tinsel collection. I followed the wonderful sketch #86  from Card Patterns this week.

Card Patterns Sketch #80

Here's my second post of the day... Didn't want to miss out on the Card Patterns challenge. I used the Sketch #80 as the design for my card.

The stamps are all from the Paris Exposition set from Artistic Outpost. I was really excited about using the vintage hot air balloons and the set is all about the Paris Exposition and has beautiful script and images.

The paper is from Memory Box in the Christmas Release and it is called Holly Jolly. It is the perfect background for the beautiful balloons.  The Plum Paper is from Webster's Pages. The fun trim is really a deep plum but photographed black and it is from Making Memories as part of their Halloween trims.  The border punch is EK Success. I used Memento Plum and Versafine Vintage Sepia along with Ranger's Queen's Gold Embossing Powder.

Card Patterns Sketch #79

My anniversary with my DH is on Tuesday. We will be married 19 years this year.  I had this idea to do a card for our anniversary based on a school theme. I thought it would be fun to create it like it was the front of a book cover or paper from school where you doodled about the guy you were crushing on.

When we started dating I decided to finish off collage and go out and get a job with a big company. My boyfriend/future hubby was part of the reason why I pushed myself to do that and he helped fund a little of that education. :)

So this card is for my DH.  I used the sketch from the Card Patterns Challenge #79.

The silver is all from gum wrappers. Too funny right?  I wanted to doodle more on the card like you would on your book covers and I tried to write our initials on the main heart. Decided against it after a few failed attempts. But I think it is still a fun card and he will enjoy it.

Card Patterns Sketch #78

I am a guest designer today over at Card Patterns. My card was selected as the winner of Sketch #76. (Yeah!) Here is the fabulous Sketch #78 which we had to work with for this week's challenge.

and here is my take on the sketch:

I had all the plans of using a beautiful chipboard piece, lace, etc... But my card decided to take its own path....

I really love this stamp from Stampendous  Ranunculas Field. Earlier this week I found my twinkling H2O's which were buried.  I pulled them out to color this image because I know knew where they were. :)

The background stamps are all Hero Arts and the sentiment is from Penny Black.

Inks that were used in the stamping include: Versafine Black Onyx, Versafine Vintage Sepia, Ranger Distress Ink Crushed Olive, Antique Linen.
