Winter Birdhouse

I had visions of a row of birdhouses all looking different similar to the famous houses in San Fran. The painted ladies... Well only one made it onto my card. This card was created for the Caardvarks Circle of Friends challenge.

The background was sponged on the bottom and top. The bottom was sponged with a purple and blue dye ink. The top was just the blue.

Recipe:

1. Stamp Flourish on white cardstock with versamark and heat with clear embossing powder.
2. Sponge with blue and purple dye inks.
3. Cut out circle and rip across the edge.
4. Rip little piece for snow drift on the post.
5. Cut out other circle and sponge lightly with blue dye ink.
6. Stamp snowflakes randomly with versamark and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.
7. Sponge over snowflakes with same dye ink.
8. Punch snowflakes from purple dye ink background.
9. Cut 1 1/4" x 2" rectangle of white cardstock.
10. Stamp swirls on rectangle using plum dye ink.
11. Stamp definition stamp on white cardstock using blue dye ink. Cut 1/8 " strip.
12. Cut two 1/8" x 1 1/4" pieces for the roof. Glue the tips together and attach to top of the birdhouse. Trim corners of birdhouse off.
13. Punch border of blue stamped definition and trim to fit bottom of the bird house.
14. Use hole punch to create bird hole!

So easy and addictive. I still have 3 other fancy birdhouses that didn't make it onto the card. It is too much fun making creative birdhouses... (victorian, ranch, tudor...)

How Do you Do?

This little bird was colored last week and I just finished his nest this week. He had a long tail which I cut off and made into his hairdo... He reminds me of Elvis a little and prompted me to put the little pun on the front.



I also gave him short little stubby legs when he should have long legs. I felt very mean making him short as I am definitely height challenged as they say. But he sits in his little nest nicely.





I hope you enjoyed my little friend. I am going to send him off to someone special who might need some cheering up.

Weathered Wax Resist Challenge

I am preparing for my 2 classes this week over at Stamp Scrap and More. (Link on my Favorites tab). I am teaching a wax paper class on Wednesday(2 spots open) and Sunday(Class Full). As I was working on putting my kits together I decided I should use some of the supplies to do a few of the challenges going on at 2 Peas Winterfest and Hero Arts weekly blog challenge.

This was fun as it uses some of the wax paper resist technique, masking, glimmer mist...

Recipe:

1. Cut out 2 5" circle from plain white cardstock.
2. Crumple plain wax paper and spread flat.
3. Heat iron on medium setting.
4. Place wax paper between the 2 circles.
5. Iron for 1 minute flip the 2 pieces of cardstock with the wax paper in between and iron other side for 1 minute.
6. Using yellow glimmer mist spray on the wax resist white cardstock circles and dab off excess with paper towel.
7. Place mask on dry yellow cardstock. Sponge on weathered wood and broken china over entire surface.
8. Place wax resist circle after sponging between two pieces of white cardstock and iron again for 2 minutes to remove the wax.
9. Stamp flowers and sentiment using Stazon Solvent Ink.
10. Pierce holes around the edge of the card. (I used a template I just purchased)
11. Tie twine. (Didn't have any so I used needlepoint thread.)
12. Stamp butterflies on scraps on other circle and cut out. Color in using color pencils (Blue and green)
13. Attach butterflies using pop dots.

Happy Birthday!

This is for a good friend of mine, Lisa. She is the one who introduced me to stamping. She has a birthday next week. This was created as an inspiration challenge inspired by Kryssi. Her blog is here: http://sugar-buffet.blogspot.com/. Kryssi's favorite color combo is teal, red and brown. This card is inspired by her colors and my friend Lisa as we both loved the Her Arts Asian doll set.
Recipe:

1. Punch out sixteen 1 1/4" circles from white cardstock. Stamp them using the for different stamps and brown ink.
2. Cut a 4 1/2" circle out of white cardstock.
3. Stamp tree image using brown ink.
4. Stamp sentiment using red ink around the edges curving the acrylic stamp to follow the line of the circle.
5. Stamp Asian girl in red and brown ink. Cut out brown girl and red dress. Attach red dress to girl.
6. Sponge edges of the larger circle with blue dye ink.
7. Stamp lanterns using red ink and cut out.
8. Layout little circles around larger circle. Tape larger circle and lay onto the little circles. I also backed the whole flower with a larger cut out circle.
9. Attach another circle with a fold at the top to make back of the card.
10. Accent with gems!
