April Showers

Happy Wednesday!  I am the host of the current challenge at Frilly and Funkie!  My challenge is April Showers  because of the rainy weather we see here during April.

For this challenge create a shabby chic or vintage project inspired by the word showers. Think rain, storms, umbrellas, baby showers, wedding showers whatever comes to mind and start creating.

I was inspired by baby showers and created a beautiful cover page for a scrapbook to honor the new arrival:

I started with a variety of inky backgrounds created in a play session with the new Distress Oxide Inks and used them to layer up a background.
I then die cut a few butterflies who also received an inky bath and then I embossed the top layer with a metallic mix of embossing powders.

I added a few new embellishments including the sentiment and the image.
I had some old buttons, doily and rose trim leftover that I pulled out a add to the background.
An the final product which was just a lovely shabby mix of bits and pieces my favorite kind of project.  All ready to be attached to the cover of a scrapbook.

Now please get inky and join us in the challenge!  The team will choose their top four picks with the winner being invited to join us in a Guest DT spot here at Frilly and Funkie and the next three will receive badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and follows the rules will be entered into the draw to have the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. What a fantastic cover for a new baby album! I love the whole vintage feel and those gorgeous layers of inky magic. And of course your fairy baby in the centre tops it all off perfectly xx

  3. This is so delightfully shabby and vintage and altogether wonderful, Suzz! I love the texture you added with the doily, too. The sweet baby in the center is absolutely precious. I also love the "Stay Curious" title...so perfect for a baby book.
