" Adding an interactive element on a card, tag, layout or canvas adds a bit of fun to any project. For this challenge, create a vintage or shabby chic project that incorporates an interactive element of one sort or another in the design. You can add a pocket and tag, a hidden tag, a hinged page, a flap, a flip, a tuck spot, a special fold or any kind of interactive element that appeals to you. Be sure to tell us in your post what makes your project interactive, as it may or may not be apparent in a photo. "
Having just received the new Stampers Anonymous Entomology stamp set it had me thinking of flying tags!
And since Kathy challenged us to be interactive. I thought it would be fun to use the bugs as the pulls on the tags. I created multiple pockets with multiple tags to pull in and out.
Each tag has it's own stamped images along with a layered bug. I stamped each bug in black on the same background paper and then added acetate wings.
After I had finished everything I matted it onto black cardstock and then flicked white acrylic paint over everything to lighten up the dark areas.
I hope this has inspired you to try out an interactive project! If you play along you will have a chance of a Guest DT spot at Frilly and Funkie, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. And there are Top 3 Badges for three further outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team.
Thanks for stopping by!

Wow this is a fun and beautiful project indeed!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so clever and fun Suzz! I adore the layered butterflies and have been thinking of making some of these after seeing the new Prima Lavender butterflies. The acetate looks amazing! This is truly right up my alley and so so inspiring. Hugs, Autumn
ReplyDeleteWOW! What an inky feast for the eyes. Love the background and your little tags with the bee pulls are so special, especially with all the wonderful sentiments.
ReplyDeleteLove this clever idea of using the flying insects to create pulls for the hidden tags Suzz! And they've all settled on the perfect inky background xx
ReplyDeleteSqueee! Flying tags tucked into hidden pockets! I love it! This is such a clever, innovative, whimsical piece, Suzz! Your lovely bugs (the acetate wings!) are irresistibly drawn to that gorgeous inky background. I love the way you got in on the action!
ReplyDeleteWell, I was pretty sure I could do without the bug stamps, but you've got me thinking I can't do WITHOUT THEM! Your tags/pockets are a genius interactive element, and using those insects to pull them with is so much fun! (Except for someone who has an intense fear of bugs, because these look so REALISTIC! Wow!) Great job on that gorgeous background, too! Sending hugs!
ReplyDeleteOrdinarily, I don't care for butterflies in art (I DO love the many that try to evade our BudderCup kitty whom we dubbed "The Serial Butterfly Killer many years ago...), but these stand out so well & I couldn't help my need to say so! They remind me of a Tag Tim did several years ago, where I went outside 'the box' finally in my 3D thinking!
ReplyDeleteDefintely inspiring!!!!
