Inspired By

Welcome to a New Year!  I am sending you all blessings for a happy and blessed New Year!  The new challenge on the Frilly and Funkie Blog is "Inspired By" and hosted by the talented and creative Cec.  Here is how she describes the challenge:

"I don't have access to quality craft classes locally so I spend time online to learn new things. For this challenge I want you to create a vintage or shabby chic project inspired by or using a technique or tutorial that you have found online. You must provide a link to the site that is inspiring your creation and please do not make a direct copy of anything you found."

I like to use my magazines to look at different ideas but I also enjoy using the Splitcoaststampers forum with their awesome tutorials for new ideas.  I used the Double Diamond Fold by Joann Jamieson as my inspiration.

What I enjoyed about this fold is it stands open by itself beautifully and gives many surfaces to cover with different prints or stamped images.

After you first open it up it will look like this. I added a belt and a change so it looks a little messy but if you decorated with flowers or bits on each side it would look just as lovely just like this.

When it is fully open it give a whole other view!

This is partially open  and again has a fun view with different angles.

Closed up and ready to send off.

I hope this has you thinking about who inspires you and using their inspiration to join in on the fun before the challenge ends!

The winner will earn the chance of a Guest Designer spot here at Frilly and Funkie, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. And there are Top 3 Badges for three further outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team, because choosing just one winner is so hard!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Joann is one of my good buddies from Heartfelt Creations, and the girl knows her way around a fancy fold card! She is as sweet as she is talented. I love your version of this fold. The papers and images you combined give this a wonderful vintage World's Fair feel. I'm going to have to give this one a try! Thanks for sharing!Happy New Year, Suzz! 2. Happy New Year to you Suzz. That's such a clever folding idea and you've decorated it beautifully with the altered Worn Wallpapers and various pieces of ephemera. The chain and belt fastenings on the front are an inspired idea and make for the perfect closures xx

I am so impressed with how it all came out, and I appreciate the link to the tutorial. I love that you've used the Wallpaper on this--you've done a brilliant job of making everything cohesive. 10. So, so cool! I love the complex folded structure and all the vintage images and papers, but it's that belt fastening which takes it to the next level for me.
