Lily Pad Challenge - Ribbon

This week's  challenge at Lily Pad Cards is ribbons and our wonderful sponsor is May Arts!  

I created two cards using my May Arts ribbon.

My first card used some of this beautiful crochet lace to create a mask:

 

The lace was laid across the white cardstock and covered the entire surface and sprayed a lovely pink glimmer mist onto the white cardstock. 

The big butterfly and the vines (Hero Arts) were stamped onto the background using Ranger Archival Coffee ink. The vines were highlighted with a white gel pen. The butterfly was shaded with watercolor pencil and highlighted with white gel pen. The edges of the butterfly were cut out with the exacto knife and popped up. 

The sentiment (Hero Arts) was stamped using the same brown ink. The edges of the panel were sponged with  brown dye ink. The smaller butterflies were stamped on a remnant of the background and shaded with watercolor pencils. Fussy cut and attach to background.

The second card using the same lace and some beautiful Wrinkled  ribbon.

 

The background paper is sponged and stamped over using Old Letter Writing (Hero Arts) and Stampers Anonymous Sewing set. The dress form has a lace skirt with a knot tied from the lovely wrinkled ribbon. The stamp is from Nina B and fits the label 18 die cut.

Lily Pad Cards Challenge - Ramona at the Beach

Whoo Hoo!  The first challenge for Lily Pad Cards starts today! And it is a color challenge using bright and fun colors: LilyPad Kathy's Color Throw Down Challenge,

The colors spoke to me of sunshine and outdoors. I knew that this happy gal from  Penny Black would be perfect for the colors.  My daughter said she looks just like Ramona from Beverly Cleary's series and I think so too!

Here is the easel card closed.

Recipe:

1. Cut cardbase from white cardstock. 5 1/2" x 11". Score at 5 1/2" and 2 3/4" on the front of card.
2. Stamp Penny Black images on watercolor paper.  Color using watercolor markers (Tombo) and Water brush.
3. Using Sea Sponge dab in brown dye ink and sponge onto kraft cardstock. Cut 5 1/2" x 3". Rip edge and sponge along edge with brown dye ink.
4. Mask bottom half of  front of card with copy paper. Stamp Hero Arts Clouds using blue dye ink on top half of front of card.
5. Sponge blue dye ink on bottom half of front of card.
6. Tape down kraft cardstock to bottom of front half.
7. Repeat sponging blue dye ink on inside of card.  Create second kraft piece with sponging for inside of card.  Stamp and color row of shells and starfish and use as prop to hold open the easel card.
8. Stamp sentiment (Hero Arts) on inside using black archival ink.
