Gnarled and Twisted

Good Morning!  I am happy to say I am Guest Designing today at Frilly and Funkie Challenge Blog
in their Autumn Splendor challenge.   Simply create a vintage or shabby chic project using the rich colors of autumn, and remember to include an autumn leaf somewhere in your project.  The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I was inspired to create Halloween Decor to set out in my craft room.
I love fall leaves and knew I wanted to cut some from papers and this idea of creating a tree with an old branch popped into my head.

I started with an old wooden spool for my base.
I stuck the branch into the spool.  I had to use a glue gun which I rarely do because I wanted to make sure it would hold and dry quickly.

I then created the leaves using the Tim Holtz Halloween papers and focused on cutting out the faces in the leaves.

I decorated the spool with papers and stickers.  I added a little moss and a sign on the top.

For all the details of the challenge hop over to the Frilly and Funkie Challenge blog and play along!

ICAD - Route 66

I had a few more ICAD (Index Card Art) that I was playing with the prompts were Route 66 and Tree House.

My first one is from map remnants and I mixed in some stenciling and stamped images.
The tree house prompt started with me using leftover index cards stamped with wood grain.
I had stamped these backgrounds previously and ended up splattering them with some blue spray.  I thought it would be fun to add the trees over the wood grain.
After I did that I played with adding a clock for a sun and some sentiments to the background. To meet the prompt I decided to cut the second card into a shape of a house. :)

Products: Darkroom Door - Trees, Darkroom Door - Wood grain, Darkroom Door - Sentiments, Stampers Anonymous, Tim Holtz - Layering Stencil, Wendy Vecchi - Black embossing paste

Have a great middle of the week!

Up-Cycled Christmas Tree

I had to say I was inspired by a few pieces of scrap found in a new scrapbook.   I decided to play along with the Mixed Media Place Creative Gym Exercise #2  which was to use dimension.

I was going to make two of them and actually started to but the second one didn't turn out as nice as the first.   This was the insert holding the shape of the album.

I coated the surface with white gesso.  After it dried I added a layer of Wendy Vecchi Crackle Embossing Paste over the holly stencil.

After the paste dried I came back over with a mix of Ranger Distress Sprays (Pink, Orange, White) and mixed them together.   I added a few rub-ons, sequins and of course a star to the top.

I thought about this for awhile trying to decided did I want to add more and decided I loved the effect.  I have a tag that I am working on that is coordinating and can't wait to finish it out!

Thanks for stopping by..
