Raspberry Suite Challenge #7

How can you go wrong with green and pink and she said you could add white if needed.

The die cuts are from quick kutz and the only die I own from them but I like that it cuts the shape and also provides a very thin frame as well.

The raspberry paper is the Coredinations White Wash.

Stamping on Fabric

Jennifer McGuire is hosting Stamp Camp Week # 4 at two peas: http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/mb.asp?cmd=display&forum_id=52&thread_id=2797276 her class is how to stamp on fabric. I decided to play along and created this:

I started with a sheer curtain panel of curtains I am not using anymore. :) I had visions of Carol Burnett playing Scarlett OHara on her show wearing that curtain rod dress.

I stamped the damask background using my StazOn ink and heat dried it right away. The curtain is made from a nylon so I was very careful to keep my heat gun farther away to prevent melting. I did have some melting when I embossed. I stamped the entire piece with versamark and heat embossed using some iridescent clear embossing powder to give it the glimmer.

The butterfly was created usign the same material only I embossed the outline with a pearlescent blue embossing powder. Then I sprayed purple and blue glimmer mist over the image and let it dry. I than covered the entire image with versamark and embossed using clear iridescent embossing powder.

I used the leftovers from my border punch to accent the corners of my damask background.

A busy weekend...

We have had a really busy weekend... Track meet, soccer game, baseball practice, SRE and birthday parties. (One of which was hosted at our house for family for our 2 oldest) You name it we have done it... I only had time to work on one card which was supposed to be for Kwerner's color challenge, but I think the colors might be a little off so I might play with the colors again. The colors for the challenge were red, brown, yellow, turquoise, and white.

This stamp is from Rubber Stampede. I forgot I even had it and was digging out a stamp to send off and found it and thought "Oh I have to play with this again".

The shapes are from the nestabilities and I actually stamped the image twice to be able to get 3 shapes cut out.

Who doesn't love getting mail?

I love getting mail, especially if it is not bills! I recieved this in my mailbox yesterday...

with a very nice thank you written in it from Jacqueline! Love her cards and was so lucky to recieve one in the mail! Thank you Jacqueline!

I also had a chance to keep playing with using bleach to stamp on a glimmer mist background. Here is the results:

I wish I could take a better picture but alas... All rain yesterday and today... I have created a light box based on something shared on the Hero Arts Flickr Group but need the light source to finish it. I will get there... :)

Stone Soup...

The stone soup story tells how you start with a stone in a bucket of water and keep adding things until you get soup. Well this card started like that. :)



This started from an inked background which I honestly don't remember if I used my glimmer mists or ranger dye re-inkers on acetate to make.

1. Apply bleach on acetate and ink(bleach?) a flourish stamp and stamped randomly over the background.
2. Ink flower stamp and dragonfly with StazOn and stamp over the background.
3. Sponge green dye ink randomly.
4. Versamark the entire surface and emboss using incadescent embossing powder.
5. Repeat the process for the sentiment background.
6. Stamp sentiment on vellum.

Art Creations Friday Challenge # 7

There is a range of beautiful colors in this background. I decided to use the corner which contained the beautiful rust colors.
The background was so lovely I only stamped the branches with orange and brown and the butterfly, sentiments with black and embossed the flourish using the Ranger Vintage photo embossing powder which not only gives it color it also has texture.

A side note...

I started with a 6 3/4" x 4 3/4" piece and had a vintage photo to the right.

I didn't like how the image looked after I finished everything else so it was chopped off. That left a little of the sentiment still stamped on the image I had left.

So what you see with the sentiment now is a cover up of the remnant of the sentiment from my original design.

I am really pleased with what I ended up with but wanted to share because I find myself designing to fix my mistakes in some cases.

Kissing Stamps

Over at 2 Peas they are having weekly stamp camps... This week Kristina Werner shared the kissing technique. Here is the link: http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/mb.asp?cmd=display&thread_id=2697145

I have always done the kissing of stamps by applying the ink to the stamp and using another stamp to remove the ink. She showed how to use acrylic stamps and applying the ink and stamping it on the paper and then applying ink to another stamp and laying the original stamp on top of the inked stamp and than stamping that over the original image. This is something I had never tried before. I have very few solid images so it was a challenge to find stamps that I could use to play with this.

I ended up making 2 cards for the challenge/class. The first card is not my typical genre of cardmaking and I am not sure if I did the birds justice. I used this bueatiful lace flower stamp from Hero Arts as my kissing stamp. The birds are an clear stamp and I used the technique described by Kristina to create the birds. The red ink is Versafine Crimson Red. The birds definitely look more pink than red. The ink used for the lace is Versafine Vintage Sepia. I wanted to use the pigment ink to get the crispest image possible. The color scheme I think was a challenge on SCS not too long ago and I also recieved an ad for a bedding set which was really pretty using red and grey with brown furniture.

The second card was made by applying the ink to a rubber stamp and using the lace stamp to remove the ink. The picture doesn't do it justice. The lace actually was very pretty on the flower. The flower was stamped using Versacolor Pink Opera.

The background was stamped with the Versafine Vintage Sepia. The button actually has a dandelion stamped on it using StazOn Timber Brown. I have this new vine ribbon which I am very enamored of and I used that for the stem on the flower.

My Son's Confirmation...

My son is having his confirmation on Saturday. We are very excited for him.

I knew I was in trouble from a card making perspective...

A boy, tween, and religious card... All 3 are challenging for me... I don't have any stamps for a confirmation.

To top it all off he said to me... No big deal you just put a cross on there. Well... That is exactly what I did... I tried to give it texture and color to give it more interest.

Recipe:

1. I decided what measurement I wanted my cross to be. It measures 4"w x 6"h and 1" in the width of the cross. I cut the rectangle from glossy cardstock first and then worked my way in. :) I then cut 2 more crosses increasing the width of the cross it self by 1/4" each time but keeping the height and width at 4" x 6".
2. I used stonewashed and lettuce for my alcohol inks on the cross. I start by putting 3 drops of lettuce on the felt on the applicator and add 3 drops of blending solution. I than smear that across the entire glossy cardstock. I then put new felt on and did three drops of stonewashed and 3 drops of the blending solution. I dabbed this on in various spots on the glossy cardstock cross. I then came back with dripping blending solution, lettuce and stonewashed on the cross directly. I then put a fresh piece of felt on my applicator and applied 3 drops of blending solution on the felt. I then dabbed that in spots where the drips I had applied didnt' blend. This will mute the edges between the drippings directly on the cardstock.
3. I let the cross dry and then I embossed it using the Cuttlebug Embossing Folder.
4. I mounted the glossy cardstock cross on the two other colored crosses.
5. The background was created by cutting a piece of white cardstock 4 1/2" x 6 1/2".
6. I used a sponge dauber by Tsukineko and dabbed it into the Adirondack Bright Citrus and used this to smear in circles off the edge of the background onto the card. I continued this until the entire background was vary shades of green. I then used another sponge dauber to apply a light blue in the same fashion. I also did this on the sentiment I had printed on the computer.
7. I cut an olive green and light blue rectangles to mount the sentiment on and mounted them.
8. I then cut out the corners of the background papers using my smallest circle punch.
9. Attach all parts of the card to a light blue card base.

Congratulations...

My DD teacher from last year is pregnant. My littlest one wanted to make her a card. She knows she is having a girl. This card is for her...

Unfortunately... I have very few baby stamps.. I haven't needed them... So this is more of a congratulations card...

Recipe:

1. Cut card from white cardstock 5 x 7. Stamp Butterflies in light pink around the edges.
2. CB Emboss using the frame around the edges. To make it all the way around I had to cut my folder in half and use tape to hold it along the sides to put along the bottom and top of the card.
3. I then use lime green chalk ink to highlight the embossing and the edges.
4. Cut a 4" x 6" piece of white cardstock and stamped the floral border in light pink across. I then embossed using the textured textile Cuttlebug Folder. I used the lime green chalk ink to highlight the dry embossing.
5. Cut a 3" x 5" piece of white cardstock. Stamp the butterfly border using the light pink ink. Emboss the edges using the just my type emborder on the top and bottom. Ink the dry embossing using the lime green chalk ink.
6. Stamp the sentiment in the center with the dark pink pigment ink.
7. Cut dark pink cardstock to mount the sentiment and the middle piece of cardstock.
8. Mount all pieces and pop dot the sentiment.
9. Tie ribbon around front of the card under the sentiment.

Happy Anniversary Dave & Janet

My Brother-in-Law & wife's anniversary is coming up and I wanted to create something using my new Inkadinkado Wedding clear stamp set.

I apologize up front... I find I tend to go in cycles with colors, techniques, etc... So this is going to look similar to some of the other cards I have been making. I purposely pulled the light blue to stay away from a green with my brown and ivory... Although I am sure you will recognize some of the other pieces I have been playing with lately. :)

I wanted to a brown and cream instead of black and white. There isn't anything too special in the recipe... But I will share the products lists because I know how it is when you see something and you would like to know who it is from...
