I am using the lovely sketch from the Christmas Challenges blog to showcase a few shimmery flowers.
The flowers are from the Chapel Road ArtStamps - Poinsettia Plate. I stamped them on a page from a book using black archival ink. I colored them with watercolor pencils. The entire surface was covered in Kaleidoscope embossing powder from Stampendous.
The rest was a layering of the beautiful Bo Bunny papers.
There was a bad storm that swept through here yesterday morning...
We lost our power yesterday for 12 hours. Nothing major and nothing life threatening. But I got a little taste of what it feels like to be without power and all the other conveniences. I did a lot of driving around yesterday as my two daughters were in two different places in the morning and I saw first hand the damage wreaked by a storm that lasted 45 minutes...
Our neighbors on the other side of the street from us still didn't have power last night. We got home from my MIL around 8:00 and our power had just came on and I was so relieved...
I had a few pictures to share of the damage just on our street. Our neighbor next to us has three old trees and all three were cut in half in the storm. It really changes our skyline as he will have to take them all down.
Doesn't this look like a big pile of ice? Well... It is our second patio table we have lost to storms. They pitch up over the side of the deck and fly off and crash... Now to have to pick up all the glass from the grass. We will be keeping the kids and dogs out of here for awhile..
We were very luck and only had lots of branches and cleanup to do. I am so thankful that it was only an inconvenience and that we all were safe.

I love this card! That shimmering is just so awesome! While looking at a small picture I thought that it's nothing, when I enlarged it it looked stunning!
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you didn't have any major damage, and that all are okay! Mother Nature can be very scary!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this beautiful card - it has all my favorite things - text and flowers!
Stunning card Sue! Love all the layers, coloring and stamping on the book page! Glad your power finally came on, and you have no major damage!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, love the layout of it and the colors. Sorry about your patio furniture, how scary and I know I'm not good without the power either. Glad that you all are ok.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very beautiful card, Suzanne. Thank you for joining CCWS. Love, Wilma
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shimmery card - it looks exquisite when I double click to make it bigger (must be really "wow" IRL!). That was a crazy storm you had - thank goodness no one was hurt.
ReplyDeleteYour card is lovely! Love the shimmery poinsettias! Glad you made it through the storm ok and didn't have major damage.
ReplyDeleteOh wow Suzanne! Those flowers are just gorgeous and I actually have some of that embossing powder. Need to dig through my stamps now. :-)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about the damage to your neighbors trees and your table. I think sometimes we take our pretty views for granted. We lost almost seventy trees during Katrina and the change in the landscape was so drastic.
Be safe and glad you have your power back.
Hugs!
Olá que bom que não aconteceu nada mais grave,eu adoro seu blog e estou sempre por aqui espero que não se incomode.
ReplyDeleteSuch a stunning card, Sue! Love the text on the poinsettias. Sorry to hear about the damage and loss of power. Glad you were safe, too!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card. So glad you escaped too much damage in the storm, it is sad to be big trees down isn't it? Hope all your neighbours recover soon too. Elaine
ReplyDeleteTotally gorgeous card Suzz... and what a mess the storm made.... I think you need to get a wooden table for your patio now! Glad to hear you are all safe

Isn't the weather funny at the moment? We have one day cold, one day hot and sweltering! Glad the storm was minor but still, looks like you will need a table from stone for your patio!
