Over the Limit

My project today is for the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge  Paint it Up. My project started from a piece of muslin with white acrylic paint smeared over the surface.  I grabbed a piece of muslin in the midst of project to whitewash a cupboard door.  I was excited to see what I could do with my leftover muslin scrap. 

The theme for my project was inspired by stamping the number 65 in the corner using black ink. My middle daughter has just gotten her permit to drive and has been begging to drive everywhere and I think that had me thinking speed limits, guardian angels and cars.

After the number was stamped I traced circles around the numbers using a black marker and punched two holes to allow me to string the twine onto the faux tag.

I stamped the harlequin pattern in the background using black ink. I stamped the time piece with wings two times to create a frame for the sweet girl image.  I stamped the card on white cardstock.

I framed out the girls face using a time piece stamped frame.

 The girl is stamped on white cardstock and colored with color pencil.  The wings are misted in coordinating colors.

I stamped a row of numbers along the left side.  I used a strip of filmstrip stickers in the background behind the car. The car is stamped on white cardstock using black ink and colored with the blues and greens and touches of white. 

I finished the piece by layering the muslin with images onto a piece of corrugated cardboard.

The background is torn and painted with white acrylic paint.  I added a piece of twine to create a hanging.

I added a few charms to the piece for texture.  The sentiment is stamped on a piece of tissue paper spritzed with glimmer mist. The edges are distressed with a touch of brown dye ink and white paint.

CR84FN49 - Part II - Heres Looking at You Kid

Week Two of the lovely  CR84FN49 colors:

I created two cards to share this week:

First:

 I used the beautiful Our Daily Bread Designs stamps: Grunge Butterfly Background, Two Step Butterfly, Grunge Butterfly, and Flourished Verses.

Second a celebration card:

I created this funky card using the new Artistic Outpost Release including the Diesel Punk and Industrial Backgrounds.  I created the background with the diagram stamped in gray and distressed the paper with distress inks and wrinkles.  The diesel punk kid is colored with watercolor pencils.I found the zipper in my stash to add a touch of metal to the card.

Artistic Outpost - Feb 2012 Release

I am so excited to share the February release of Artistic Outpost Stamps! 

The release includes: Diesel Punk, Charles & Amelia, Industrial Chic, and London Elements.

Diesel Punk includes images of good looking guys, a beautiful dame, a kid ready to be a rocketeer, and fast machines to tempt their fates. It reminded me of the old Hollywood movies! 

Charles & Amelia includes  images featuring the king and queen of the skies when flying was more than transportation – it was an adventure.

Industrial Chic includes backgrounds for any of your projects – steam, diesel, or any other kind of punk.

London Elements includes more iconic images of London that are wonderful by themselves, and work beautifully with the London Underground or Loverly London plates. 

My first card comes from the Diesel Punk plate:

These two gentlemen in their leather gear reminded me of  the open road and the old movies.  I stamped the background using the images from the Diesel Punk plate and added a touch of color using watercolor pencils and waterbrush. 

The background layer of maps is from the Route 66 plate. I stamped the image repeatedly and added a touch of  color.  The sentiment is from the Charles & Amelia plate.  I stamped the first portion of the sentiment onto a piece of cardstock and created a banner with a few brass brads.

The next card is a gate fold card created using the new Charles & Amelia plate: 

I combined the images from the fun & funky Industrial Chic mixed with the Charles &Amelia plates to create fun backgrounds on the inside and outside of the card.  The main image is stamped in black archival ink and color with watercolor pencils and waterbrush. The Ephemera Backgrounds Ledger provides a wonderful backdrop to Charles and the front of the band on the card. 

My last project is from the London Elements plate:

The last card uses a die cut for the birdcage and the lovely teacup and Afternoon Tea sentiment in a fun and frilly card.  I accented the tea cup with a flower from the  Bloom & Grow plate. The birdcage is stamped with the ledger from Ephemera Backgrounds.
