Feathered Finery

The current Moxie Fab World Challenge is The appearance of Cameos.... The description and definition of cameos provided by Cath inspired me to think outside the box for my cameo.  My card also uses the Card Patterns Sketch #100.  Here is my feathered finery:

I have this lovely Layers of Colors Bella Brocade stencil and a very cute and fun clear stamp set called Rise and Shine. I decided to pair them up with the Basic Gray Curio paper to create my hen cameo.

The hen was stamped on white cardstock and colored using watercolor pencils and water brush. Cut out the hen and mount onto pattern paper. Trace pendant (Ranger) around section for the cameo and cut out. Apply super thin layer of glossy accents to back of pendant and attach image.  I love the effect of pendant as it clarifies and magnifies the image and background.

The card base background was created using the stencil and Rusty Hinge dye ink sponged over the stencil.

The rest of the card was just layering the beautiful pattern papers and adding a tiny bit of distressing with a sponge and brown dye ink.

Here is the sketch from Card Patterns.

We are expecting another 2 - 8 inches of snow over the next couple of days.  Can't believe it. :) The kids are excited as they are hoping for a snow day.

Have a lovely day!

CR84FN13

The  CR84FN13 challenge this week is some very fun bright colors:  Red, Turquoise and Brown.

I decided to pull out the cute robots from Hero Arts and make a Valentine's card for my youngest daughter. I have to be super secretive as she is always wondering in and commenting on what I am working on..

The Hero Arts Challenge includes insides and out of cards. I created this little card with the heart window to have the robot peeking out to showcase the inside of the valentine.

The red is embossed using an embossing folder and sponged with Adirondack white acrylic paint.

The robot is stamped on watercolor paper and colored with watercolor markers and a water brush. The sentiment is computer generated. I had to sneak into my hubby's workroom and steal a few nuts.

Speaking of my hubby's workroom scroll down to see the pictures of my new work desk! .

Here is the graphic for the CR84FN13:

Onto sharing my wonderful new craft desk that my DH made for me.

This is the base:

Disclaimer: This was after I spent a day unloading my craft room and another day reloading my craft room with everything.
Here is a picture showing the desk on an angle:

Here is the finished desk and some of the room.  What you don't see is my shelves off to the right jam packed full with my other goodies. :)  I was able to get my DH to put another shelf up and hang my ink holder that he created for me.

My favorite part of this is that desktop is large enough to have someone sitting across form me so we can stamp at the same time! :) Including if my DD's want to join me with a project they can.

Well... I had fun inking up on my new desk tonight. Love all the extra desktop! (I actually loaded up the side by the wall with my must have's when stamping. :)
Have a blessed Sunday!

Moxie Fab World - Color Inspiration Challenge Neutrals

Cath at the Moxie Fab World put forth a set of color inspirations challenges. The neutrals color challenge spoke to me with the soft soothing smoky blue gray, the twig and off white combination of hues.

I decided to pull out my Artistic Outpost sets Steampunk, Think and Wonder and Ephemera Backgrounds to create a card for an explorer.

I stamped the train twice and popped it up to give it the feel of flowing off the card. As a child I used to dream about travelling the world and I think this card captures that. :)

On another note... I am very excited as my hubby has been working on special set of drawers for me to create a new desk and they were finished last night. Now he has to cut the top. I have pulled everything out of my craft room to accommodate the new desk and am looking forward to putting it all back together over the weekend. I will try to share pictures after I re-assemble my room. (Yeah!)

Artistic Outpost January Release

Artistic Outpost has three new collections  Ephemeral Backgrounds, Think & Wonder, and Songbirds. I had a lot of fun playing with the new releases and wanted to share three of the projects created with the new plates.
The Songbirds plate has beautiful birds and music elements along with a gorgeous frame. This was the very first card I created using the new plate. Love the frame!

This card used the SongBirds plate as well as the music background from the Ephemeral Backgrounds. They were stamped in Vintage Sepia and the frame was embossed in gold embossing powder.

The next card showcases the Ephemeral backgrounds plate with the ledger background and the postcard stamp.  The birds are from the SongBirds plate and the tree is from the Outpost. They are colored using watercolor pencils.
The last card uses the beautiful girl from the Think and Wonder plate

The image is stamped using Versafine Vintage Sepia and colored using watercolor pencils on the pattern paper. The butterflies are from the cut from the pattern paper and popped up.

To celebrate these releases, Artistic Outpost is offering 15% off your entire purchase. Now through February 14th, use coupon code January2011 at checkout, and you will receive 15% off all items.

Be sure to check out the galleries featuring the beautiful cards, tags, and mixed media projects using the new releases.

The design team is also sharing their lovely projects on their blogs.

Pretty in Pink and Gold

I had fun this morning playing with some Tattered Angels Chalkboard Paint. The colors were inspired by the Moxie Fab World - Color Inspiration - Metallic.  The other challenges include: Wee Memories Challenge #40 Anything Goes, Simon Says Stamp - Bingo (Glimmer, Ribbon, Gems), Tuesday Throwdown - Distressing, Card Patterns - Sketch #99

I am a big fan of the Pure Innocence images and this one is so sweet with her little fairy wings and magic wand. This card will be for one of my daughters although they both are not interested in pink anymore. I still love the pink though! :)

Products: Impression Obsession Coverall, Pure Innocence, Hero Arts - Valentines Sayings, Crepe Paper, Tattered Angels - Chalkboard Strawberry Shortcake

The second card was created for the Moxie Fab challenge as well using The Paper Companies papers. After I finished it I realized it looked so much like other cards I have been making that I decided to do something completely different.

Papers: The Paper Company, Verses Rubber Stamps - MA0322-F, Sizzix Die Cut, Spellbinders Butterfly

Hope your day is wonderful!

CR84FN12 - Butterflies

Time for another set of beautiful spring colors for the CR84FN.

I used the fun sketch from Mojo Monday 174 and stamps from the new Memory Box release as my inspiration:

Here is the lovely photo for CR84FN12.

Love the bit of poetry from Emerson.  I always look forward to the quote that Scott picks to go with the colors each week.

Got Directions?

The challenge at  Wee Memories challenge this week is Anything Goes. The sponsor is iCopic which means the prize is fabulous! (Ciaos)

This is my card for the challenge:
I saw this sweet paper from October Afternoon called Campsite and then found the coordinating stamps. I usually don't do the cute animal images but I thought the bear and fox were so sweet in this set.

My favorite part of this card is the piece of map I cut up and folded in his hands to make it look realistic. My daughter said "but it is upside down!" Perfect touch as he looks so lost and you know he is not going to ask for directions. HA!

All the paper is October Afternoon. The bear and sign post are stamped using Ranger Archival ink, Versafine Vintage Sepia  and colored with water and watercolor markers. The directions on the signpost are empty and you can write anything you want which I did trying to emulated the etched effect in the wood.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts but I think works perfectly with us getting lost sometimes in life. :)

Hope your Saturday is going well... I have some fun news that I wanted to share.. I am very happy to say that I am joining the Design Team for Chapel Road Stamps at Class Act. I am looking forward to creating with their beautiful stamps.

Cutie Pie Valentine

I wanted to share a valentine that I created for my last class. I used the Cutie Pie Plate from Artistic Outpost.
The plate has the cutest vintage valentine images. I picked the little baton girl as she reminded me of my MIL pictures of when she was a baton twirler.  I will have to save this Valentine's card for her. :)

She was stamped using Ranger black Archival ink on watercolor paper and colored using a water brush and watercolor markers. The little puppy was cut to lead the parade.

The paper is from Basic Grey Nook and Pantry.

Simple card and very fun to create!

Hope your weekend is fun!

What's in the Box 2011 - Memory Box

I love the new Memory Box Orchid Branch Print stamp and wanted to showcase the flowers using a blue and brown color combination. I was inspired by some beautiful china that Kathy shared on her blog here.  Love the touch of color in the china and the soft sheen. I decided to try to emulate that with the Orchid Print. I did a version with cracked finish but it didn't turn out the way I wanted. So I might try that again later. :)

Here is what I created using the orchids.

For the next two weeks on Outside the Box you get to see the new What's in The Box Release 2011.  There are also prizes and great inspiration to be found.

The products used on this card are Brioche, French Toast, C1714 Cocoa Bean Butterfly, G1718 Orchid Branch Print, So Sweet, G1732 Hope Collage.

Hope you are having a wonderful week.

Moxie Fab World - Gray is the New Black Challenge

Cath's latest Moxie Fab challenge is Gray is the New Black. The softness of the gray and using it as a neutral in place of black always changes the look of the card.  This Moxie Fab challenge inspired this card and me to create this:

I couldn't resist using the pink with the gray as I love those colors together.

This card features all new Memory Box stamps from the What's In the Box 2011 release. For the next two weeks the Memory Box Design team is going to share projects using the new What's in the Box release  with a blog blitz over at the Outside the Box Blog. I used on my card a beautiful new stamp called Orchid Branch Print G1718 and Cocoa Bean Butterfly C1714. The sentiment  is Memory Box B1359 Very Best.

Everything is stamped using Versafine Smokey Gray and the edges were sponged with Memento London Fog. The coloring  is done with my watercolor pencils and waterbrush. Everything was accented with the white gel pen.

I am off  to cut some card kits for my class today.  I hope you have a lovely day!

CR84FN11 - Poppy Punctation

I loved the color combination Mona selected for CR84FN11.  The red, kraft and brown are a beautiful color combination.

I dug through my stash of ephemera and found a great background piece which worked perfectly for the challenge.  I decided to add some Hero Arts Poppies and a sentiment and here is the end result:

I was so thrilled with my new Hero Arts stamps I had a hard time deciding which card I should share as part of the blog hop. I finally decided on this card because I loved the flowers on the Large Flower Pattern!

The Large Flower Pattern (S5471) background is so beautiful it reminded me of waterlilies floating in the water.

        Recipe:
        1. Stamp Large Flower Pattern using Versafine Smokey Grey on white cardstock.
        2. Stamp Thinking of You (All Occasion Messages CL272) using grey pigment ink on white cardstock.
        3. Sponge sentiment using grey dye ink and pink dye ink.
        4. Color flowers using black and red watercolor pencils.
        5. Color stems and leaves using light green and black watercolor pencils.
        6. Soften watercolors using water brush to blend colors.
        7. Accent flowers and stems using white gel pen.
        8. Stamp dragonflies from Antique Engravings - CL383 using gray pigment ink.
        9. Color dragonflies using light green watercolor pencil. Highlight with glue pen and clear fine glitter.
        10. Accent dragonfly bodies with white pearls.
My second project is a sweet pendant that could be used for an accent on a package, a necklace or even a pin to hang on your lapel.  The stamps used are from the  With Sympathy CL476 set and   Delicate Leaf Clusters CL477. Both of these sets were on my list as soon as I saw them.

        1. Stamp the background   Thank You Definition - CG268  using Versafine Vintage Sepia.
        2. Paint the flowers using chalks and a water brush and stamp on background.
        3. Stamp sentiment using Versafine Majestic Blue.
        4. Paint dragonflies using chalks and a water brush and stamp over background.
        5. Fill frame with Glossy Accents.

        CR84FN10 - Dreams

Look at the beautiful soft pastels for  the CR84FN10...

I started with the beautiful Hydrangea from Hero Arts and colored them in the soft lavender using water color pencils and a water brush.  The inside of the card is stamped using the beautiful quote from Flavia using the  Verses Rubber Stamps  Wings of the Dreams - QQ0841-E. The background is stamped using Tattered Angels Chalkboard Mists and spritzed with water on the Hero Arts cling fabric background. The bees are from Impression Obsession.  The crocheted flower was made and sent to me by Alice. (Thanks Alice!).  The doily center was cut out along with the front of the card to showcase the inside with the sentiment.

Here is the gorgeous inspiration photo for CR84FN10 from Mona:

        Winter White

Quick post today... My inspiration was from Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger and City Crafter's Challenge Winter White.  Love monochromatic cards using only white with a hint of color and the gorgeous cake in Cath's post is fabulous and would love to be able to re-create some of that in my card. :)

Here is my take on both challenges:

I clear embossed the Hero Arts stamp in the background and stamped the Verses Rubber Stamp Grow Old with Me over the same embossed background.

Here is the gorgeous cake from Martha Stewart Living posted on the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger.

        You Rock!

When I was selecting my new stamps from Hero Arts at my LSS my youngest was with me and she had her eye on this little girl stamp with an music player.  This card is inspired by my youngest using the fun stamp she wanted.  The Hero Arts Challenge this month is Inspired by the 2011 catalog and Inside of cards. I think this qualifies for both.

I was inspired to create a simulated iPod with the little girl peeking out.  The most fun was the birthday sentiments collection from Hero Arts actually had snippets from a few songs about birthdays which was perfect as a display on my faux screen.

The inside is set up to hold an iTunes gift card.  Tanya has already said she wants this card. :)  She gave me input the whole time I was making it!

The cardstock is Memory Box Soiree and is perfect as the shell of the iPod, as it is a shimmery pink like the coating on the pink iPod. :)

Hope you enjoyed my fake iPod. Tanya will be getting this on her birthday (Not  until July, but now that she claimed the card I will have to put it away for her until then. :)

        Have a wonderful day!

        Poppies

This was created for a few challenges: Simons Says Show your New Stamp, Flourishes FTTC99 which is to use flowers, and for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge 172.

        Here is the sketch:

My new stamp is actually a retired Hero Arts Stamp and I was so happy to win it recently from Hero Arts. The hare image is Hero Arts - H1835 Mountain Hare.  The flowers on the bunny reminded me of the Poppy Patch set  from Flourishes and I think  they look lovely together. The background is Hero Arts K5191 Kanji Poem.

        Some Happy News!

My happy news is that I was asked by the very talented Mona Pendleton to be part of the design team for the CR84FN color challenge. I love my color challenges and was very excited to be participating in a weekly color challenge again.

Here is my card for CR84FN9:

The peach is always such a difficult color to find in my collection of inks and supplies. I think I was able to add a little in my roses. :)

        Mini recipe:
Background:  Stamp  lightly  Hero Arts - Old Letter Writing S4878  using Memento Rich Cocoa. Sponge edges using Ranger Distress Inks Antique Linen and Victorian Velvet.

Sponge doily edges with the same dye inks.  Fold the doily and tie with ribbon accent with stick pin and charm.

The roses (Hero Arts - Rose Background CG179) took a little time.   Stamp the rose background  stamp using Versafine black pigment ink multiple times. Color using three different watercolor pencils (pink, peach, yellow) and a water brush. Color leaves using light tan watercolor pencil.  Cut out the roses and leaves. Sponge around the edges with vintage photo dye ink. Accent with glitter. Arrange your bouquet of roses. :)

Stamp the lovely Verses Oh the Dances - RR0408 - C using Versafine Vintage Sepia and emboss using Zing Chestnut embossing powder.

The other stamps are Hero Arts - Rose Background CG179, Hero Arts - .

Here is the beautiful inspiration photos... Now you can see why I picked the roses to play with in my card.

The fabulous CR84FN design team includes:

        Happy New Year!

I was SO done making Christmas cards and projects. I was happy to put away my holiday sentiments... and then... Louise at Tag Tuesday Challenge this week is to use Christmas leftovers. That had me thinking about what I had saved from my Christmas leftovers and I thought of the candy bars in my kids stockings.  I loved this nutcracker on the chocolate bar that my children had stuffed in their stockings. He was the inspiration for my tag.  Of course encouraging one of my kids to eat their chocolate bar was not a problem. LOL!

I cut out the nutcracker, a piece of the silver inside, and the Hershey's name. The silver was embossed and distressed with a little black paint. The Nutcracker received a little stamping to his hat and shirt.  His hat received a little bling and red feathers.

This was a fun tag to piece together. I only had to pull out a few Christmas stamps to finish off my tag.

Now I am off to clean up my work room and do a little organization.  My DH is working on some new drawers for my desk top and a I received a few new cabinets. So I will be pulling everything out and cleaning it up and putting it back in place.

Wishing you all a wonderful new year to you!
