Krafty Flowers

Are you feeling krafty?  This week we are playing with Kraft paper over at the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge.  I had a piece of my brown paper bag laying on my desk leftover from my previous gift bag.  I decided to use that paper as the base for a garden.

I painted the paper bag with white acrylic paint leaving the edges smeared with paint.

I repeated the process several times to create my layers and to create a base for the butterflies and sentiments.  I stamped the flowers using black ink over the white background.  I added color with my watercolor pencils and a waterbrush.

I then layered the sheets of painted paper.   I stamped the butterflies on one of the extra pieces of paper bag.  I colored them in coordinating colors using the watercolor pencils.  I then created the sentiment by stamping it on the painted kraft paper and tearing the edges and putting them over the layers.

I attached the papers using the Mini Stapler and glue dots for the butterflies.

  1. Suzz...this is so cool! I love your idea of using torn pieces of a paper bag to create such a cool front. The white acrylic paint makes a great base to stamp on and add such gorgeous colored flowers. Love them and I also love your coordinated butterflies. So delicate and so pretty against the white and kraft background! <3 Candy

  4. how cool this one is Suzz. Funny thing today I "rescued" some kraft (brown paper) paper from the paper recycle bin at work. Thinking of making some flowers with it. Your card has given me some ideas.

  20. At first glance it looked like you had used embossing paste because of all the texture. Love how you used paint and kraft paper to achieve such a rich and wonderful effect. The blues and whites with the black ink contrast perfectly with the brown peaking out. Fabulous!
