Silvery Snowflakes

I am not looking forward to our first snowflakes but the weather has definitely shifted this week and we are starting to see the cooler temperatures in the early morning hours.  Linda at the Funkie Junkie - Week #1  has kicked off her annual 12 tags of Christmas challenge  which is sponsored by her Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Her tags are always inspirational and this weeks tag is no exception.  The tag is full of  beautiful gold and red poinsettia splendor.  I didn't have the poinsettia stencil so I followed her design with the snowflake theme.

Linda's tag has some beautiful layering of colors in the background.  I started from another scrap with a mix of colors which I layered over the stenciled silver snowflakes.  They didn't pop enough so I applied a whitewash of paint to soften the background.  That worked to lighten the background but it also whitewashed my snowflakes.  I applied another layer of  the silver embossing paste over the first snowflakes.  I then splattered the background with different sprays and mists.

After all the background paints I too decided like Linda to just let the background shine and only added a few sequins, the sentiment and the die cut snowflakes on the top.

Products: Tim Holtz Layering Stencil - Snowflakes, Sizzix Thinlits - Holiday Greetings, Wendy Vecchi Silver Embossing Paste, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Ranger Distress Stain Spray, Heidi Swapp Color Shines, Krylon Silver Pen

  6. Welcome back, Sue! I am so delighted that you are playing along with my little challenge again this year, Sue! Your tag is lovely. I'm really drooling over the colors and textures of your background. Your stenciled silver snowflakes came out sensational. I love the way they look and I'm so glad you left them uncovered so we could all feast our eyes on them. Your sentiment looks amazing in white.

    Hugs,
    Linda

  7. Very translucent as if looking inside a snowglobe. It's got a magical winter wonderland feel to it.
