Winter House

Today's challenge at Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge is House Rules.  I have been hoarding an old checkerboard/backgammon board that I wanted to use for a special project.  I used the backgammon side of the board as the base of my for my birds' winter house.

This turned into a family project with help from my kids in creating the winter wonderland.

I painted the middle and ends of the board with acrylic paint. I painted three little spool with Ranger Distress Stains Metallic Gold.  I dipped my dried Statice into glue and dragged through Shaved Ice Mica.  I stamped a pathway using the domino stamp and embossed using silver embossing powder.

To create my bird house I stamped the bingo stamp 5 times using red ink on white cardstock that was glimmer misted red.

Here is a picture of my trial house. :)

I punched the top edge on two of the sides using a border punch with tabs.  I cut slits in the roof to align with the punched tabs. I taped the sides of the house together using tissue tape. The roof has a layer of Mica Shaved Ice snow.  I added a few glittery birds a piece of driftwood covered in shaved ice. I then took tinsel pipe cleaners and formed a wreath. I added a bow with bells to the top of the wreath.

My youngest helped me create a snowman from Fimo clay. We rolled the snow balls together and added gems and a tip of a orange toothpick for his nose.  We created a halo from the tinsel pipe cleaner and then added two arms from statice.
